The CDC’s own guidance is that vaccinated people are allowed to gather indoors with no masks and no social distancing (or has that changed?). Common sense would then dictate that a fully vaccinated cruise should be acceptable.
Right?...so what is the issue.....makes ZERO sense

Perhaps they think vaccines don't work as well as we all hope. It's the only plausible explanation.
hmm..no...really?!
Here in Canada I think we know that..there has been no relaxation or rule changes for vaccinated people at all.(One vaccine I wont name isn't acceptable for Nurses here in Canada, hmm)
Still wear a mask, social distance..and you can still get it and give it even when vaccinatted....so why would cruises or anything start based on that.
Case #'s going up and down is a natural progression or a virus..happened last summer with NO vaccines so.....
I feel its a long wait yet for cruising.....date wise...? Well it depends, are we talking back to normal cruising or full fleet or relaxed protocols when cruising again or?
-
This why I am not even considering doing a cruise at this point...the amount of rules and regulations....not to mention so much can change in a day never mind a couple of months. WAY too much risk and stress to try and plan it all out.
Oh..and the $1500 inside cabin rate kinda hurts too......
Its all a big no-no for me....

Wow....that's insane....I mean, I may have pretty much thought and said it...but I was even holding out hope I was wrong.....
My streak seems to be intact.......:(
Makes me a little worried for our Nov cruise...its alot of planning and $ to tie up in hopes that 7 days after the CDC lifts we are good to go.....

Sounds about right. I haven't heard much about the test cruises etc but initially it was going to be 30-60 days I think after the CDC allowed cruising to start to do the test cruises. So even if that happens in the next few weeks, it would be highly unlikely cruises in June would take place.
I think by July or shortly thereafter we will see some movement, at least for US citizens as vaccinations will be all done for a cpl mths at that point.
-
I am not surprised at all. We are sooo slow that its going to be Sept before I get a vaccine here in Canada. So while Americans may be all done and partying by July 4th(or already in Florida) it aint happening like that here.
We are "HOPING" by summer we can travel to our neighboring province to visit family without have to quarantine for a month(2weeks there and 2 weeks back). it's insane, but its the law here in Canada or at least for provinces on this side of the country.
I am hoping my cruise in Nov will be ago...and I would be probably even willing to quarantine to make it happen when I get back. But I cant see why by end of Sept we wouldn't be able to travel back and forth assuming we are vaccinated!
That being said, I am not looking at any other cruises till 2022 at this point.
-
Guess I was getting excited for nothing...if those are the "new normal" cruise prices, I wont ever be able to cruise again. it wont be Covid-19 that will stop me from cruising, it will be the $$$.
Those are insane prices!

I am looking at a cruise on Jewel of the Seas for April 2022...but it lists stops in key West AND Cayman Islands...both of which are iffy at this point. Surprised Royal would still be offering these knowing its highly unlikely they could port at either??!
Am I missing something or has something changed recently? Its a great deal and a ship i have never been on with a couple great stops..not sure if its worth the risk to book..I certainly wouldn't do that or pay that if it turns into 2 seas days instead??!

Its at like 94% now....those stats are like a month old
Meanwhile...Canada went from 2.69 to 3.8%....its painful
-
There will not be any cruises in May with Royal so it doesn't matter either way really.
-
-
The government will never allow that...even though no tourists would come ashore..ppl here would be in an outrage at the thoughts of that...
Ppl here are so brainwashed about Covid, that the vandalize cars of fellow Canadians if the license plate is from not around here......that should tell you all you need to know.
Why doesn't the US change their own stupid law and solve the problem...like really?......

I have a hard time thinking any cruise line is going to have its full fleet operational in 9 mths.....its going to be 2-3 mths after the CDC gives the go ahead for test cruises right?....so right now that would be June to start....add in the logistics of all crew being vaccinated(if they are from Canada they wouldn't be till the fall) plus with all the travel restrictions still out there...not happening!
I am cautiously optimistic that shorter cruises out of Florida will be ago by the fall(maybe cause I have one booked..lol)....but if cases of Covid were to start to pop up on any cruise line, I have no doubts the CDC would shut it all down again very quickly.

Could be something to do with the CDC expected to come out with something soon(any day now) according to Richard Fain......and it sounds like it may ne an actual step by step or concrete plan towards opening up cruising.
I would also think that the success of the vaccine roll-out in the US is making things look much much better towards things starting to open up for travel related isues.
Shares of Royal are up over 25% in the past week or so as well.
All positive things for sure.

Ours were just written in.
Nightmare waiting to happen.....
How would you ever prove that? Good luck if any official from the airport to the port to the cruise company to any of the destinations you want to travel with have any concerns about hand written vaccination record!
-
So then to bring it back to the topic of this post.......who cares if the crew is vaccinated??!...they can still get Covid, the can still give Covid, spread Covid, get sick from Covid,...and we will still need to wear masks, quarantine and social distance.
Boy, makes a great case for this vaccine.......and doesn't give me much hope for anything opening or returning to normal anytime soon...I may have to rethink my predictions now to 2023 based on all these facts i have been presented here..lol

Yes, you can still get it. But, even in Canada, the vaccine prevents severe disease. If it eliminates severe disease then it's a positive thing. Even in Canada.
You state..."yes, you can still get it"........well hello....if you can still get it after being vaccinated, that's the whole problem...no??!...what the hell am I missing ppl.
I am not a doctor..but the top doctor in Canada who controls us tells this....(your equivalent of Dr. Facui)
I am quoting her word for word,,,,,,I can post links here if noone believes me.....I don't get it....
masks, social distancing and you can still give it and get it after being vaccinated...all facts according to Canada.....
So I base all my comments and thoughts around Covid and the impact based on what the top Doctor in Canada tells us everyday on the news.....we are not going to be able to travel or leave the country without quarantining even once vaccinated we have been told....at least for the near future.
Why do you think Canada is blocking cruise ships till at least Feb 2022...everyone in Canada is supposed to be vaccinated by Sept of 2021??...hmmmm
Everything I have posted above is FACT......anyone can PM me for direct links and quotes but please don't accuse me of not knowing what I am talking about or I am wrong....

Also: CDC: Vaccinated people won’t need to quarantine if exposed to COVID-19 virus
Only if you have been vaccinated in the past 3 months.....so there's that about it......

The point is that it prevents severe disease, hospitalization, intubation, and death.
That's reason enough for me.
It doesn't in Canada....you can still get it and give it even when vacinnated......

Thats INSANE..I have never heard that in over 2 decades of flying..cant imagine that's the norm..or perhaps it was a strange season......although out of Toronto flights are much cheaper than here on the east coast..it costs more for me just to fly to toronto than the whole cost of most of my cruises...and I can't cruise form Toronto so....
The US dollar also being worth 30-40% more helps as well for you guys....
