USCG Teacher reacted to smokeybandit in Royal Up - First time cruisers
A cruise in November is still quite far out for them to start the Royal Up process.

If you're afraid that you missed the email, you can always check manually if you're eligible yet at:
https://www.royalcaribbean.com/booked/cruise-room-upgrade
It should also be appearing on your main page of your Cruise Planner online if you are, but I know some people like to check all the angles!

USCG Teacher reacted to CruiseMsclDad in Suite Guarantee Question
That sounds right I was looking at the deck plans and I see nothing obstructing, but I love aft cabins so that would be fine, just happy to have gotten a GTY so close to sailing.

And an Aft JS on Mariner would be a score, as the balconies are huge. They normally sell out fairly quick

USCG Teacher reacted to Xaa in Beverage Package question
Understand @Jkf1897, what you need to do is modify the reservations that allow you to book the DBP. Then board, then do the switch.
You might save money just paying a la carte for your drinks anyway, but only you know that.

USCG Teacher reacted to JimnKathy in LGBT Cruisers
We're all here to talk cruising on RCL...we haven't a care in the world other than helping one another get the most out of their sailing vacations!
Happy Sailing! 🙂

USCG Teacher reacted to Atlantix2000 in Haiti Travel Advisory
There have been ongoing travel warnings to Haiti for years. This question keeps getting asked every few months. The answer is still no.

USCG Teacher reacted to teddy in Solarium access . . . For kids!!!???
This has happened to my wife and I a few times over the years in various places. It caught me off guard the first time, but my wife knew immediately what was going on.
Part of me is bummed that we are at the age where look more like parents to the younger people than peers. 😁

I remember sailing Voyager in May 2000 when she was the biggest cruise ship in the world. 😂

Yep, first cruise ever for me, honeymoon in June 2002 on Voyager. "Holy crap, there's an ice rink!"

USCG Teacher reacted to Beci in MEI travel agents?
Hi @USCG Teacher
The fastest way to get a quote is to -- go to royalcaribbeanblog.com - and fill out the form on the right side. this goes directly to us and we will assign an advisor.
If you have any trouble with the form, just email me directly and I will get you to a vacation advisor.
Have a great day!

USCG Teacher reacted to WesKinetic in Milkshakes
Sorry, I wasn't clear--it's not a Johnny Rockets specific package. If you buy the Deluxe Beverage Package (aka the open bar package) or Refreshment Package (basically everything except alcohol), those can be used for shakes at Johnny Rockets. But those aren't cheap and, based on how you describe your drinking habits above, I think both of those would still be overkill for what you really need. If you go on a ship with a Johnny Rockets (Ovation of the Seas does not have one, so this wouldn't be an option there), you can always go there and just buy a shake (I want to say it's about $6, but it's been a while since I've been in one on board, so hopefully someone can chime in with more recent pricing.) Buying them a la carte like that would probably be the most cost-effective way for your party.

USCG Teacher reacted to AshleyDillo in Reservation questions
Izumi hibachi has a fixed number of seats at each dining time, so that one should always be booked in advance. The other restaurants can be more flexible.

USCG Teacher reacted to ChessE4 in Average Tipping
Forget average since sample is biased. Do what you want. Anything extra is appreciated. Cruisers come from many cultures and lifestyles.

USCG Teacher reacted to Montemy2419 in Transatlantic
We are taking a Transatlantic for the first time next April. We are sailing to Southampton, spending about 5 days in London then sailing back on Queen Mary 2 to New York. We priced out air flights from London and surrounding cities and found that it was almost half price for us to cruise for a week back. We have an inside room on QE2 but that's better than 15 hours of flying on two different planes.
