This happened to me.  I was fortunate to have an excellent travel agent, who took care of everything for me.
    Sorry this happened to you.

I am glad to see that San Juan is going forward with their plan, it has been overdue and a long time coming.

On the other hand, modifications to the ports in San Juan bring nothing but bad memories on how ugly and intimidating the top management of Royal Caribbean can be.

The more successful San Juan's port modifications become, the bigger the middle finger in the face of the  bullies of Royal Caribbean. Good for you San Juan! keep up the good work!

I think it also depends on the cruise director.
Prior to covid Royal had excellent cruise directors who really love the job.  Post covid there have been cruises where I've had to ask myself how did this person become the cruise director they are horrible at this job.  Cruise director in my opinion is one of the most important jobs on the ship and I get the job can become monotonous week in and week out but excellent cruise directors first and foremost really love their job and know how to keep it fresh every cruise.  While cruise directors who are just biding time waiting for the next opportunity to move up the corporate ladder can at time allow things to run stale and it comes across in activities, their morning show even just seeing the cruise director around the ship you can tell the ones who absolutely love their job vs the ones who are just there waiting for their next opportunity.
In my opinion its not just the love and marriage game show its also shows like The Quest which is now the Crazy Quest.  I know early on in the cruise whether or not I'm going to The Quest and it all depends on the vibe I get from the cruise director on day 1, day 2 of the cruise.

I didn't expect our certs to show up until this afternoon (according to the release schedule) but they both showed up early this morning.
I spent ALL morning on the phone (we are in Falmouth and I used the ship's phone to call) BUT we ended up with some great results.  I was able to book both Dan's and my Prime comp cruises for B2B SY sailings (Miami) and we were able to get XB (ocean view balcony guarantee) for -0- upgrade as the XB category for our cruises was lower than the 4V interior room on both of our cruises !!!  We are on 3-9-25 and 3-16-25.
I am not a huge fan of ANY kind of GTY but in this case, it will be worth it, no matter where our OV balcony is. Yes, we will have to change rooms but we saved probably $1000 by opting for the XB over a chance to choose our cabin.  ANY balcony will beat ANY interior !
So be sure to check and see if the cost of an upgraded category is actually less than the interior fare, which is most likely what your offer is based on, if you are Prime.

We did not have any additional fees when we were diverted to Falmouth. We also got our Labadee excursions refunded to credit card very quickly, even though they made the decision to cancel the day after our planners closed (this was for a late March cruise). I really thought it would be OBC because it was two days before the sailing, but it was a direct refund.

    Dear Someone_else,
Well, welcome to these boards and discussions about RC.  There are dozens of cruise forums, and more than a dozen cruise lines, and there are always complaints, questions, reviews, and discussions.  Some people post the same question on different sites and responses will vary. Often folks disagree, and everyone's experiences are individual and unique. Remember, all these forums are used by fellow cruisers, who are busy with their own lives, but do enjoy sharing their cruise experiences.
You were seeking feedback with an issue, and you received a lot, so you can either use some of the advice for your situation, or just realize your concerns will never be resolved.  Then the choice is cancel the cruise and choose another ship, or another cruise line, or do some other kind of vacation that suits your family better. Unfortunately, in no way, shape or form is this a "government" issue (I know, I worked in government at one point in my life). You are simply a dissatisfied consumer.
Remember that cruises today are mass market experiences, and the cruise line has no responsibility to meet every person's needs or wishes, nor do they try.  Sometimes negative publicity pushes an event toward a more positive outcome, but also having worked in the travel industry at a very early point in my life, kindness and friendly relationships are a better choice in the long run. The bottom line is no one is making you spend money on a RC cruise, so if you are not happy, spend it elsewhere.  Please continue to participate in forums and share your cruise experiences, because that educates others, and hopefully, will create future improvements. Best wishes.

To can hardly wait….Please keep your attitude to yourself. They came here for help and you are not showing the respect and help this board gives. Telling someone to “I strongly suggest you move on to other cruise lines or suck it up” has no place here.

If all you wanted was contact information, you should have just repeatedly asked for it. Instead you have argued with everyone.
What fascinates me is people like you who don't create an account on a site like this and research there vacations in advance. But instead wait till they have had problems and come to complain about it.
You could have done a search and found old post about complaints where peoples replies included corporate emails etc. instead you came to complain. Not everything on any website is 100% black and white. Had you bothered to join this site before your trip, you might have gotten information and knew better what you were getting yourself into. People come here and ask endless questions about the cabin configuration, beds, location of beds, size, etc. All before a cruise. Not after. We live in a world where customer service people are often in another part of the world, and therefore are not 100% reliable. We come here to give each other first hand realtime answers and advice.
The bottom line is this is how it works. I strongly suggest you move on to other cruise lines or suck it up and pay for a cabin that meets your very specific needs in the future. (Like other people do)

I know in the times before COVID seems like 30 years ago but in about December/January-ish of 2019 Puerto Rico wanted to remodel their cruise ports. Royal Caribbean was excluded from the conversation and this really got their underwear in a bunch. There is (or perhaps was) a Royal business unit that is a port and pier general contractor/designer/consultant/architect. And not that they don't know the business or do a good job; but it does bring in "their guys". I think it was the "their guys" that Puerto Rico found objectionable and therefore said 'No, we are doing the job ourselves'.
Well, Royal got really upset they were not the architect/general contractor. They stomped their feet and threw their weight around.  There were a bunch of threatening letters to top politicians and I believe some top brass from Royal had meetings with these politicians to change their minds(?) stating that Royal had had a close relationship with PR for 40 years and the good things they do but real heavy on the PR owed Royal the job of port improvements.
PR said, we are doing the job without you. And about that 2019 December/January-ish timeframe Royal Caribbean cancelled any future ports of call to San Juan that they had not already had under contract with their port authority. There were some source documents posted on the Blog at the time (letters penned by Royal). And there was a press release stating the future cessation of sailing to San Juan which was really brash and totally uncharacteristic of Royal. You could tell they were steaming.
It all was just 3 years ago.

Post COVID we have sailings to San Juan way into the future. I wonder if the revenue from the just-about-a-guarantee of selling a few hundred cabins to the quinceanera girls on any sailing out of San Juan changed their mind?

I have a Celebrity booking on deck, but I am thinking of changing it. I figure if I can push it to 2026, maybe the program will have merged. At the current price I can get 4 sailings from Royal (thanks to loyalty and casino status) and that's not including what I will have to pay for drinks and internet. I want to sail Icon for the shows and food (also the different class), but unless Star gets the Rocky Horror picture show.......I have no interest in sailing it.

At CK, as well at any specialty restaurant, I tip $10 at dinner and $5 for breakfast and lunch.
A waiter once asked if wouldn’t mind leaving additional gratuity on the bill instead of cash.   Said cash goes into his pocket, a tip on the bill goes to his family via his paycheck.  Since, I politely ask.
I give a Sky Class suite attendant $50 on day 1 and another $50 on the last evening.

Frankly, the whole tipping system is nuts.  Moreover, it is really the cruise companies' fault.  They want to collect gratuities as part of your cruise fare but then provide no information regarding how that money is allocated so the passengers have no idea who is getting what and we feel guilty if we don't give more.  Frankly, I think that is the plan so that the companies can pay their employees less out of the fares that they charge yet the employees still make a living wage out of the extra tips they receive.  It is a system that begs for clarification.

Just this morning I booked the Hilton New Orleans Riverside for my upcoming January stint on Brilliance. I admit I am paying a premium for this stay so that I do not walk outside on embarkation day and it is essentially kitty corner from Harrahs. I'm over spending by $50 for the night probably because of the free hour of indoor tennis I will never use. If I were you I would look up The Riverwalk on Google Maps and ANY hotel within a couple blocks will make for the easiest embarkation day you've ever had.

Many people talk about the crime but my experience with New Orleans is this. The French Quarter is nothing but fellow tourists looking to eat and party. And the Quarter offers me everything I want in an embarkation port--and it is all walkable. Two days pre-cruise is a correct answer and you'll need more if you want to see it all.

New Orleans is the absolute best embarkation port in North America if you fly-in.
