We didn't like the fact that the MDR is actually 4 smaller dining rooms, kind of spoiled the experience for us, other than that Anthem was fab, loved 270, really unique.

Sunrise was at 6am, it's nearly 7am there now.  I think her fate is clear.

 She may go to anchor as the yard prepares for her but I suspect she won't have a company Captain at her helm for much longer.

You are correct with what you say, the article does state that a cruise may in fact be safer than going on a vacation to a city such as London....HOWEVER it says in a Covid environment at no point does it mention crime rate. 
My question would be have you ever been to London or are you just going by reports in newspapers. 
London is no different to any other major city in the world! It has its good and bad areas, good and bad citizens, US cities will have far worse crime rates, shootings, killings and thats just the police!

Totally agree, too many people in the UK seem to ignore social distancing on land, I would worry that some would also on a ship, it's hard enough to get them to sanitise their hands before entering the buffet!!

Have just had some good news...
We are booked to travel with another family on a 12 night Southern Caribbean sailing on Anthem in December 2021. For a long time the family in question were (just like me when I didn't know better - shame on me! ?) refusing to consider a cruise, saying it's just not for them.
Anyway, fast forward to just before the COVID-19 bomb dropped and they finally relented and agreed to join us. Not only are they now excited about going on their very first cruise despite all that is currently going on but, with the help of Michelle at MEI, they have just bagged a $1,400 reduction on their fare by re-pricing in this weekend's sale. ?
I am taking it as a good omen! ?

@Jill OMG wouldn't it be nice. Just nice, kind, rule following people who understand that everyone should enjoy things, not just them.

I would think those older ships would never be able to comply with the environmental requirements of sailing out of CA, which is primarily the reason RCCL isn't sailing out of CA now !  Charleston or Jacksonville or Norfolk all sound like great ideas to me....but I doubt Royal is looking to expand their coverage at this point.  I really just do not see a use for those ships again.  IMO, they are going to be getting rid of even MORE of the small ships.

Or perhaps they might pass them on to another joint venture, TUI cruises. TUI/Marella already use some of the older RC ships, would be nice to see them over here in Europe.

So many for sale posts recently! as its been mentioned every ship in theory is up for sale for the right price.

Yes, you lose any UK protections like ABTA/ATOL when booking through a US or out of country agent. I personally have done it in the past, but with the way things are going this year, I'm glad I am protected.

I just called CDC 1-800-232-4636, they have NO idea what is going on. 1st went medical line, they have nothing to do with policy only health care answers. Nothing re: cruise lines,They sent me to the media line, all that did was tell me what I already know. July 24. They were not any help at all, would not transfer me to another supervisor, ẅe are very busy, click! Getting my wife and daughters and friends to call and just ask if they have any more answers.

Yes I’ve booked 4 cruise now from the Australian site no problems ? only downside is you have to phone Australia for any questions or issues but my mobile phone only costs 3p a minute and they answer so fast ?

Jason, does the Australian website allow us Brits to book directly via it, I like you I suspect are frustrated by the inflated prices RC charges us here in the UK.

Sorry to hear of your experience with RC, I'd like to think they're not our to scam us and the FCC detail is probably part of the T&C that we all agree to without ever reading.
My own recent experience with their contact centre was surprising good, I called them mid morn from the UK, got through to a representative in under 5 minute who was able to answer my question. Now I like many are waiting for refunds etc. and will probably be pulling my hair out at the end of the month screaming where's my money, but based on my last call I was pleasantly surprised.
