Mike.s got a reaction from asquared17 in Celebrity XCEL Fall 2025
Apparently they're reducing the number of infinate verandas and having more traditional veranda cabins, seem to remember the new CEO of Celebrity mentioned this in one of her webcasts.

Mike.s got a reaction from Jill in 2025-2026 Deployment schedule
The European sailings for Europe are available, have to say the itineries from Southampton are way more interesting than the Royal ones. Tempted by the October transatlantic on Apex from Southampton.

Very disappointed in the lack of a British Isles cruise in 2025, we were planning on booking that when it became available, I guess it's now waiting to see what other lines have.

Mike.s got a reaction from ScottishRobbie in Australia/NZ Cruising News
Seems Royal is only intertested in putting more and more ships on short breaks in the Caribbean, those of us in other regions get what's left over.

Assuming @SergJ has booked in a country that allows repricing, many don't sadly.

It's the same, book you're boarding time 45 days in advance, complete your details on line, wellness check before boarding and you're good to go.

Gratuities should be part of the base fare, leaving guests to tip in cash for truly good service

Mike.s reacted to bretts173 in Latest App update
You still can, it just is different and took me a while to find.
From the main page go to the bottom and click on where it says don't see your cruise let's add it know.
Or when in any cruise click on the calendar in the middle top to bring up the itinerary and selecting a different ship/date should be at the bottom.

Now I see what you mean. Yeah, like @bretts173 said, the easiest way is to open the calendar on top...then the option is right there on the bottom.

The other day in the Aquatheatre, two ladies kept chattering during HIRO. The finally shut up when the performers got them soaking wet 🤣

Mike.s got a reaction from Xaa in Changes to Celebrity MDR
Sounds like Celebrity have listened to feedback on the recent changes to the MDR menu and are rolling some of them back.
Perhaps Royal might listen to feedback and do the same??

Mike.s reacted to AndyPandy in Opening Schedule for 2025 - 2026 Deployment
I agree it’s own perception, but, I have sailed both.
AOTS has an inside pool and solarium, we sailed to Norway this year the weather was fantastic, but, I would say 95% of people on the top decks were in the inside pool area or solarium. Only outside tubs in use. IOTS we sailed Southampton to the Mediterranean and back, the first two and last days were bad over the Bay of Biscay and we arrived late in Gibraltar by hours. It was cold on deck those days. So sailing from Southampton is a lottery until you go further south.
AOTS had We will rock you as entertainment, but the shows imho was poor on IOTS with a poor cruise director.
The speciality restaurants were far better on AOTS.
Our ship was nearly all British and full to 4K plus passengers, sailing Norway, so I do think getting a 15yo ship instead of say 6yo ship is a massive downgrade and clearly shows RCCL do not value the U.K. market? My views, from sailing both.
Plus I think just one 12 night itinerary and most 7-9 which again is a reduction on choice in 2023/2024. When RCCL have new ships to hand, yes the newest will always sail in US as it’s most. Competitive there, but do not downgrade the U.K. market when they can give something equal or better.
Orher lines, say Disney, upgraded European sailings with a bigger and newer ship from this year, with rumours of another swap in 2025.

Mike.s reacted to bobroo in New Orleans
The Hilton News Orleans Riverside is connected the Riverwalk Shopping Mall which is connected to the Julia Street Cruise Terminal. Embarking on your cruise will mean you don't even really go outside. If you are scratching your head, 'A shopping mall connected to a cruise terminal???' Yes! It makes perfect sense and all cruise terminals would be better places if they had the same.
The short answer is a car in NOLA is 1000% unnecessary; you'll find the places you'll want to go are all perfectly walkable and any hotel in the Quarter will have it's advantages. Don't be shy about booking a hotel that is not connected to some large chain, as a matter of fact, a wonderful part of New Orleans is that they have kept out large commercial interests out of the beloved Quarter and you will not see Subways, and McDonalds, and Marriots, nor any other company that advertises during the Super Bowl.
New Orleans is such a great port it is the only port to receive a double gold star rating on my private rating system. It truly is the best cruise port to sail from, It has everything.
