    Hi Everyone,

Maybe its just me but does anyone else feel the CDC has singled out the cruise industry? Its been over 4 months and the CDC has yet to say or give any guidelines or protocols for the cruise industry to start sailing again. Now I understand we have a huge issue with cases right now in the U.S. But If you can pack 300 people on an airplane with no social distancing for hours at a time or open up amusement parks and hotels and restaurants you would figure with proper protocols in place we would be able to sail at reduce capacity. I'm just gonna say it but this virus is not going away. The European union and the Asian markets have worked closely with the cruise lines so they can began sailing. Of course the case count is much lower in Europe and Asia but the virus is still there and its not going away. Also why is the CDC asking the general public questions on how to best keep people safe on a cruise ship? isn't that the CDC's job? Why is the CDC asking for a public consultation on how to keep people safe on cruise ships but they wont do it for schools, or airplanes, or amusement parks or hotels? It seems pretty bias to me.

This is just how I see it of course I know some people have different opinions and I welcome that. But at this rate we wont get back to cursing anytime soon. Also a point I like to make is that the virus didn't get here from a cruise ship. It got here from an airplane. But airplanes haven't stopped flying. I have cruised and traveled all my life and I can tell you that cruise ships are the cleanest way to travel. I sure all you would agree but I would like to here what others think. I don't see cursing resuming at least until after the 1st of the year. It just seems like the CDC is dragging its feet and no matter what the cruise lines do the CDC simply doesn't care right now and is in no rush to deal with any of the cruise lines. I hope I'm wrong. Thanks for reading my rant. I hope everyone is staying safe!

Ok, I miss cruises so much and it just hit me this morning how much, so I did a virtual drive from my house to Cape Liberty which is where we sail from. Went through every step on Google maps from house to Cape Liberty and then did a little Google maps look around the whole port.
Even I did not realize just how much I was missing it. I mean it really hit me and got depressed especially seeing the port. Anybody else get depressed at no cruises that you did a virtual drive to the port?

If Florida would have followed New York's example, they would not be in the predicament they are in now. New York was the highest and now is the lowest state in numbers as WE New Yorker's listened and were directed by a great Governor who got us through the rough time. The Governor in New York wants the ports open again but that is not his call.

@Mrs. Thomas There is no way the US will have zero cases by the end of the year. Right now numbers are dipping but will surge again as more things open up. I read an article on HuffPo that stated over half of America feel like COVID is done, they wished it away or the numbers were lies. All these careless people are going to increase the numbers, look at Vegas; the workers are protecting themselves but people are like "meh its vacation/leisure." People want to get back to normal asap, all it take is one person to mess up on a cruise line. A hundred(s) sailing went on during the same time as the Princess ships, yet they focus on the 2 or 3 with COVID cases.....never mind the fact that millions of people caught COVID without even being near a cruise ship.

Wow a $550 annual fee would almost pay for a 3-day cruise in full. Why have a card that charges so much of a fee?

I canceled our Beach Club beach cabana and just bought the BC passes. We will be there end of Dec 2021 and if it's too cold to enjoy the cabana (@$1,399), I'll still be happy to go to the BC, eat some lunch, dip my toes in the ocean and head back to ship. If it is warm enough, given social distancing and capped numbers already in place, I'm betting we will be able to find three lounge chairs. ? We love beach cabanas, have reserved them twice at Disney's Castaway Cay, so I'm kinda sad over this, but I think it will be the best move for a Bahamian winter visit.

For a regular cabana that price is a pretty steep. I paid only like 100 more than that and was in the overwater cabana.  That said, i really liked the beach club area and the food was great.

God willing I'll be back there in September. I will not be doing beach club this time.  I just didnt get to see a lot of the other areas as there was no real reason to leave my cabana.

Real men do not wear masks, it is a sign of weakness. Some wear masks in public just for show(or if they know the camera is on them) but they do not wear them at home in their basement with their wives. I find that odd, very odd.

Real men do wear masks, it is NOT a sign of weakness. I spent 15 yrs in the Navy, 2 tours in Viet Nam, I wear a mask! I don´t think anyone who knows me thinks I am weak, because I wear a mask. We know 6 people who have perished from this. W wear it not for me, but to protect others.

Since testing is not widely available the death toll is the most viable measure of how the virus is progressing.  It's not a contest to determine a Guiness record of lives lost or a means to trivialize it compared to cancer, car crashes or suicide.
It's pointless to compare death counts to other causes.  The flu kills 40k per year, COVID-19 did that in a month and only slowed because of actions taken.  Lives lost in WWII make everything seem inconsequential and that was a man made event.  Deaths from car crashes, or gunshots or being impaled by a pitch fork while sitting backwards on a tractor on a Tuesday are all irrelevant as a point of comparison.  Every life lost has the potential for us to learn something even if we choose to prioritize the economy.  This won't be the last pandemic the world faces, at least next time we will better understand and have better modeling to guide future decisions.
Stay at home and close restaurants, 4 in 1,000 die.  Do nothing and let the virus go, X in 1,000 die - we'll have a better idea in a couple months time what X equals.  By this time next year we'll have the clarity of hindsight which is always 20-20.
