Kirsten reacted to mamie in Smoking on Cruise Ships
Unpopluar opinion... I have found that wearing a mask in the casino helps with the smell and allergies. I wish it they would go non smoking permanently.

Kirsten reacted to Matt in Ukraine - Russian situation
Royal Caribbean has a history of avoiding stops in places with geopolitical problems, including Egypt, Israel, Turkey, and Dubai.
Safety of crew, ships and passengers is paramount.

Kirsten reacted to smokeybandit in Ukraine - Russian situation
Safety and liability is why they canceled St Pete, not due to any political statements.

If unvaccinated wore the bracelets then they could just cut them off and then they would be considered vaccinated.

Kirsten reacted to Marc in Drink package pricing
That's exactly the range I used for targeting my drink package pricing, too. The sweet (most frequent) spot was right around $45, IIRC.
Sigh... I never got to use my $18 drink packages. 😢

Kirsten reacted to Psycho and Barb in Drink package pricing
The key is to...Check your Cruise Planner...Check your Cruise Planner...Check your Cruise Planner. We don't understand why or how, but every once in a while we find a cheaper price. No sales or buy one and get 50% off...It just appears...Maybe its a glitch but we check our Cruise Planners a few times every week. By continually checking our planner, we learn what our base price is for that cruise. If we see it cheaper we cancel and rebuy it.

Kirsten reacted to CruisingNewb in Can I book a cruise with a medical exemption letter and move it if they will not allow me to cruise (with the 95% vaccination status requirement)?
You have to do what you think is best for you. I am a vaxxer. I do not judge others unless and until they make things personal. Having said that, RCCL is not "punishing" you. RCCL is doing what's best for them. So my thoughts are to do away with the notion that a business entity is punishing you for doing what is best for them.

Curious why you’d think kids are less likely to go on excursions? I don’t think it’s that common that parents leave the kids on board & go ashore without them. If we’re on a family vacation, we go places as a family.

Kirsten reacted to EmersonNZ in Beginning Feb 15 no more masks in Vax venues and smoking permitted in the Casino
It is interesting seeing how many comment they would prefer the casinos to remain smoke free (Add me to that list). I don't go into the casino becuase of smoking.
I am sure RCL has done the math on revenue if they were to ban smoking though I wonder if they might find that afer an inital dip they would see an increae as they attract new players who don't go now and those that do still come anyway after a short period of adjsting. They did a study in NZ after smoking was banned in bars, casinos etc and after a 3 month did casio patrionage and spending actually increased (Simular for bars, restuarnts etc..

Kirsten reacted to AdvanceTripper in SeaPass and Naming Question
Hi all - I'm sure this has been answered somewhere, but I cannot find the thread and I'm a noob...so please have patience.
I have a 16 year old transgender (M/F) traveling with us on Allure in July. She is very sensitive about her new name and not using the dead one. While the reservation is booked in her dead name, can we have the SeaPass name changed?
For context, her driver's license will have the dead name, but list gender as F. So does the passport. (that's a name change-in-process government waiting period). Plus, she presents as female.

Kirsten reacted to Pattycruise in SeaPass and Naming Question
If it helps any -f you have dining in the Main dining room the waitstaff tends to ask what you prefer to be called.
ALSO, perhaps put a label on the card-with the preferred name. Obviously when it is scanned it will populate with the given name, but those who see the label will likely use the preferred name, I would hope. Maybe label both sides.

Kirsten reacted to SemperMom in SeaPass and Naming Question
Let me know what you find out. I'm seriously considering just changing my kids name officially. Not only are they T/G, they HATE the name we gave them. Thankfully their chosen name is great and as non-binary as they are AND there was no special reason for the original name we gave them so I am not offended at all to change it forever. lol

Kirsten reacted to The Fox in Time to dump Cats?
That's a tough question. It depends on who your intended audience is. Yes, you could go with "cartoony" musicals, but I doubt parents would really want that. Then you have the problem with royalties. The newer the musical, the more the royalties. Here are some that come to mind, not my recomendations necessarily.
The Lion King, Cinderella Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, Singin' in the Rain, West Side Story, A Star is Born, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma, Fiddler on the Roof, Phantom of the Opera.

Kirsten reacted to SPS in Old drinks menu
It took a little searching, but I do believe I found it.
It was in a post back in early 2018, but the PDF link doesn't work anymore.
I happened to have had a copy of it in my sent email folder. I also copied all of this into a easier to read word doc so my wife could highlight what she wanted to try.

Kirsten reacted to PG Cruiser in Time to dump Cats?
The way I describe Cats in simple terms is that it is like a reality show - American Idol, AGT, Weakest Link, etc - where each cat explains in song why they should win. The winner goes to the Heavyside Layer to claim another one of their nine lives. It's almost like a revue-type show which makes it seem disjointed. Of course, as in most reality shows, the contestant with the best sob story wins ... and the award goes to... Lady G!

Kirsten, download the music and let the kids listen before you go see it. Also, it helps if you read through a summary of what the show is about. It's difficult to follow the "plot" unless you actually understand what's going on.

Kirsten reacted to jeffmw in Time to dump Cats?
I agree wholeheartedly.
Cats is a weird show to begin with. It was enormously successful in the 80s when it first came out, but it was very much a product of 80s fashion and culture, and while some fads and styles come back, the look and feel of Cats is something that was very much left behind in the early 90s. This is one of the reasons why the movie was so so badly received a couple years back. It just looks weird. Anthropomorphic cats are weird by even the most sympathetic cat person's standards.
I'm sure expense has a lot to do with it. And I'm sure the cost for the rights to Cats pales in comparison to something more modern that Royal might want to produce like Wicked or something. Yet somehow Royal has found a way to afford Mamma Mia, which is still a top Broadway show. There are so many other old standbys to choose from that are attractive to a general audience. Why Cats?

Aren't these delivered by the stateroom attendant on Day 1? That's what I seem to remember.

Kirsten reacted to BrianB in Vax Wrist bands
Still don’t understand the need for wrists bands for everyone. Every adult is vaccinated. Why not require wristbands for ages 16 and under…or 18 and under…to show they’re vaccinated. I mean, I understand there are times where an age cutoff could be hard to determine just by how someone looks, but let’s be reasonable. If someone mistakes me for a 12 year old, well, then they shouldn’t be allowed to operate a lawn mower. How about a wrist band for the unvaccinated child instead…just my opinion.

Kirsten reacted to recogneyes in Beginning Feb 15 no more masks in Vax venues and smoking permitted in the Casino
Would never just use the casino to cross through. We so enjoyed being able to sit at a table game or play slots for extended periods of time without being in a haze. On our last cruise we spoke to lots of young people who are perhaps the future of the cruise lines who indicated they only played because there was no smoke. Also, in thinking about the casino crew, it would be a much healthier environment for them to be in.

Kirsten reacted to LovetoCruise87 in Beginning Feb 15 no more masks in Vax venues and smoking permitted in the Casino
I loved going to the casino when there was no smoking. I love playing the slots, but not with that smoke and smell. No offense to any smokers that are on here.
