Heart disease is the result of personal choices made consistently by an individual over several decades.
Covid-19 is highly contagious and will take you out within a month, through no fault of your own.

But even with these controls in place we are seeing days of over 3000 deaths from covid. Those numbers make it the number 1 killer in the USA.  Not only this heart disease is a build up of many years of things and doesnt kill you in a week.

Actually, no.   If nothing else, my hospital's cases of flu admissions are WAAAAY down -- I don't recall a single pediatric admission this season yet, and that is extremely unusual for this time of year.  And that, I directly attribute to masking, social distancing, and remote schooling.

Being able to catch / infect other people with a disease within a month of being vaccinated IS NOT NEW.  It takes a while for your body to build up antibodies to a new disease, and why babies / children need booster shots of a lot of them. For babies, it's partly because their immune systems are immature, and therefore can't respond with as robust a response to a vaccine.  The same happens with the elderly, or any immunocompromised patient. My older DD takes a medication for one of her conditions that has, as a side effect, immune lowering effects.  She's one reason I was vaccinated as soon as I could be -- to protect her and the rest of my family -- and she will be getting vaccinated as soon as I can arrange it -- partial immunity is better than nothing.  And, as another commenter mentioned, the more people vaccinated, the better - -it protects those people who can't get the vaccine, since spread is limited.
Anti-vaxxers are one reason we've had measles outbreaks in the recent past.
Not trying to tell anyone what to do, but did want to drop my opinion and some info into this discussion.

Never has heart disease, aspirin overdose, falling down stairs, etc, put the kind of pressure on hospitals where patients had to be put into hospital gift stores due to lack of actual hospital rooms in which to put patients.  You cannot compare an infectious disease to other most other medical problems.  In all of my years doing 911 I don't remember ever running out of ambulances so often or having so many hospitals tell them to divert because they were full, and they can't find anywhere to divert to.  That's the core of the problem.

I'm eligible (hospital worker, > 55) as high priority in my workplace, so could get mine as early as next week, and should get the first injection within 3 weeks, with the 2nd coming 3 weeks after that.  However, the rest of my family are not nearly as high up the list, but since I spend the most time out of the house, in an area where I'm more likely to be exposed, I figure my getting the vaccine increases my family's safety exponentially, so there is that.  Don't think we'll be sailing in March though...?

I would rather wear a mask and get to go on vacation than stay at home!  If wearing a mask helps keep others safe, then it's a small price to pay - and it won't change the view of the sunset at sea!

Our favorite thing was that they assigned us the same waiter, no matter which table we sat at-- so he knew our preferences, and also went above and beyond for our disabled DD.  She always got shrimp cocktail, and after seeing that we had to take it out of the tall glass, and remove the tails for her, he made arrangements to bring it out on a flat plate, tail off.
Also, after watching us cut up her food for her each time, he took to doing that for her as well, so that our dinners didn't get cold, and we didn't have to shuffle plates around.  He was well tipped on our last night.
We went 7 times on our 12 night cruise (MDR 1st night @ MTD, which was a disaster)specialty dining for 3, and 1 night we couldn't get a reservation). Next time we are on Anthem, we are definitely reserving as early as possible.

Our Jan 2022 Anthem cruise shows DBP @ $43/day, & Refreshment @ $18/day -- so we're grabbing those (DBP X 3, plus other for DD who can't have alcohol, which means having to call Royal, but oh, well)

I work for a hospital in NJ, and time off/travel policies have been changing frequently since March.  Was able to take my 2 weeks in late July/early August that was supposed to be mainly used for my 10 day Adventure cruise, but obviously that didn't happen.  Instead, since the Northeast was at a Covid lull at that point, we traveled a couple of hours north to Connecticut, stayed at a suite hotel with a pool, and either ordered takeout for dinner, or actually ventured out to dine (they had started limited outdoor dining) for a few dinners and one breakfast.
Not sure what the policy will be come March, when we are scheduled for a cruise on Grandeur.
They did send out a survey to employees last week, asking about your willingness to have be vaccinated when available, so I'm hopeful that when one becomes SAFELY available, I will be able to be vaccinated. DH & DD's actually fall into higher risk categories (DH-on meds for BP, etc, DD's both have autoimmune disorders) so they might be eligible earlier than most.  Assuming, of course, I am convinced of the vaccine's safety profile.

Ok, if our March Grandeur cruise goes, and we are able to sail it, that means our Jr Suite will net us 32 points (4 x 8 nights), which will put us at **79** points, just 1 point shy of Diamond!

Several years ago, we were on Explorer (a family cruise -- celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, teens getting close to graduating HS), and Mom allowed DH & I to have dinner without the group one night (she paid, dinner was a command performance!) since one of the celebrations was our 25th anniversary. While in Portofino's, there was a table of 15-20 people that was  a wedding reception -- B,G, attendants & parents -- wedding in Puerto Rico that day, & dinner in the specialty restaurant -- but no dancing or anything, just a big table, presumably dinner & drinks paid for by the B&G or parents.
