I agree it’s a pain but I took our own car seat when we went on a cruise last week and gate checked the car seat before I got on the plane, at least you know you are using a clean, safe and non-expired car seat !

I actually prefer the location north of the airport. And there are a bunch of other hotels in the area as well - Matt I think you've reviewed at least 1 or 2 of them?
I really like the fact that the rooms are BIG. Even if you're only there for a night, it's nice for four people to be able to spread out and not feel like you're walking over each other - plenty of time for that when you're onboard and in the staterooms!
Plus the area has a lot of food and amenities in case you've forgotten anything, or need to buy wine.

Just stayed at the Hyatt House Fort Lauderdale Cruise Port (90 Southwest 18th Avenue, Dania Beach, FL 33004, USA) for the second time in less than six months.
Great location (~10 minute drive at the most to the terminal or airport).
They provide a free shuttle to/from FLL airport.
Rooms are clean, has kitchens, and the suite set up (dining room table and chairs + living room) are a great value.

Shoppers Drug Mart ($40), Rexall ($30), Walmart ($20) and Costco ($16) all work for pre cruise testing so there's no shortage of options

Oddly enough, this was also the nickname for the late night bus in Toronto that people took after the subway closed for the night.
For a budget option, there are bars with beaches in Costa Maya.

I have a 15 year old and he has definitely enjoyed the inflatables.
I would also consider Paradise Beach in Cozumel. It has a pay as you go option vs Mr Sancho's which is all inclusive.

    Currently on Allure.
Masking everywhere and at all time indoors.  Not awful, yes that KN95 does get warm and a little uncomfortable during shows, but it is tolerable.  Notice a lot even masking while walking through Central Park, on pool deck and solarium until they get into a seat.  Yes few blatantly tried g to get around policy, just not many.
No they are not asking to to mask up between sips or bites, generally when seated with drink or food mask off.
Surprised by the number of vaccinated children 5-11 years old.  Really surprised.
    Passenger counts.  3250 total. 2000+crew.  147 D+ 19 Pins.
Original passenger count was supposed to be 4500 almost 1000 cancellations last minute, info from Loyalty Ambassador but I could also have numbers off by a little but generally what I thought it should be.  Except I'm surprised at the high number of cancellations.
Yes hot tubs not in Solarium are all kids, but that was my expectation.
Windjammer open for dinner, during busy breakfast lunch some lines,b ut it looks like they move quickly.
Can't speak to MDR as not eating there
So far still glad we decided to stay on this cruise
    Btw. MERRY CHRISTMAS

Very true. The ventilation on the newer ships do an admirable job of trying to contain the smoke smell, but it doesn't eliminate it - you'll still smell of smoke if you're in there for a while.
The thing about this smoking ban is that we've seen this play out before in restaurants, on planes and even in casinos (in Ontario at least). There will be noise about it for a month or two, and once people get used to the new normal, it dies down. Smokers complain, but they are, by and large, an adaptable bunch, and they'll adjust accordingly.

Many areas around the world have banned smoking in bars and restaurants.  When they did the smokers rattled their sabres and forecasted all of these establishments going out of business overnight.  That didn't happen.  Non-smokers rejoiced, smokers adapted.  The same will occur in ship smoking lounges that also have some gambling in them from time to time on ships.
Before this policy change the casinos were beginning to advertise smoking while playing only, like that would be enforced.
It will be interesting to see if this temporary policy becomes permanent.
It was going to happen at some point in time.  Perhaps the time is now.

I think the best way to describe the comedy show is this:
Watch a clip of Jimmy Carr. If that offends you, don't go to the adult show.

Is it bad that one of my first takeaways was that I got annoyed that the author typed "my mom and me"?
With that said, I felt the article was fair. Maybe a bit biased towards the cruising side, but we got what was probably as neutral a first-hand account as one is going to get. It's probably not going to change how people feel about cruising, but it's also nice to see a story that isn't completely doom and gloom.
