I have put a bid in for an upgrade on an upcoming cruise this March. My bid wasn't accepted immediately nor over the past couple of days. They're probably laughing their asses off at my bid. Anyway, if I get outbid do I get notified by email? Thanks! 😎

You'll get notified that you didn't win, but you may already be on board when that email comes through.

You won’t get notified if you are outing and most likely won’t find out if you won or not until closer to the cruise. That said I was notified of my win about 1 month before the cruise. Also I bid barely over the minimum and thought no way I would get it but did. Not sure it’s solely based on the highest bid

Thanks for your post. How does one know what the minimum is?😎

when you attempt a royal up, it shows range when you click on it (can't describe it properly, maybe someone can screen shot it )

It's the lowest amount the slider on the bid page will let you go on each category.

For instance in the screenshot I've added, the minimum bid I could do for an OV Balcony is $115. Keep in mind that bid really comes out to $230 since it's charged "per guest" up to 2 guests regardless of the amount of people in the room.

Hope this helps!

Just 2 months ago in December I did Royal Up for the first time and won.  On Explorer, we went from the Interior Royal Promenade view room OV balcony for just slightly over the minimum bid.  My friends did the exact same bid that I did, on the same day, and did NOT win.  They didn't even get notified of not winning.

I was thinking it had something also to do with what type of room your bidding to.  I will continue to bid the minimum bid for the future (without any expectation of winning).

Also, as @Matt always mentions, when you win the Royal Up, you have no control of where that room is!  Personally, I'm just happy to be on the ship!

We've won 3 out of 4 Royal Ups with like $10 over the minimum bids. I've got another one going now for an April sailing. Will we get it? Don't know but I try. It's for my free (minus fees) interior room (Casino Royale points) and I bid $100 or so for a balcony. We shall see.
