Latest Chefs Table menu

Royal doesn’t switch up their menus all that often unless if they are doing a complete redesign (like with MDR) or are taking away options and/or reducing quality (like Jamie’s). I cannot think of the last time they changed a menu simply to refresh the options.

I have the first course change , because I'm allergic to scallops. I was at one Chef's table that one of the guest really challenged the chef - Vegetarian and no alcohol. Talk about paying a lot for nothing. (though she might have gotten a break because of not having the wine.)

That's why I thought they may have changed it up.  That and bc with Icon and supper club, Royal may have said its time.  I love the menu, but its now going to be 5 yrs since I have had that exact menu everytime.

That's not the first time I have heard about this.

I even read a post on another forum they were angry bc she was vegetarian and would not eat the filet course, wanted a 2nd fish course, not branzino. On top of that she wanted a wine to be paired.   They told her No!

Her defense was this is the Chefs table, the Chef make what I want.  The replies flamed her alive.  Most were the same....you are not on a yacht and they are not your personal chef.

I think it kind of defeats the whole purpose of having a Chef's Table when the menu is the same across the entire fleet and irrespective of the time of year or location where the ship is sailing.

It's just my opinion but I really think each individual chef should be able to give free rein to their creativity using seasonal local produce.

Keeping the exact same menu going for years is just plain daft (again just my opinion).

and, unfortunately, it is fish heavy, which is alright with me, but DH would not care for it at all. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what substitutions they will make?

Because I can't have the scallops; I got a version of Seared Beef Carpaccio

Has anyone done chefs table without alcohol? I can’t drink for medical reasons and was never keen to do it because it felt like a lot of the charge was for alcohol. Anyone have experience if you can leave out the wine and whether they adjust the cost based on this?

They didn’t for me. They just switched wine for mocktails instead. I believe it is possible to get a reduced price but you have to book onboard rather than through the cruise planner though It might be possible to change it prior to cruising by contacting Royal directly or through a travel agent.

On another occasion when we sailed Star Class Chefs Table was included (with an up-charge for Alcohol) but because I don’t drink they did not up-charge me so there was nothing additional to pay.

We usually do Chefs Table every cruise - if nothing else just for the value. But understandably, we have kind of grown tired of the menu so I decided to mix it up a bit and advised the staff that I was unable to eat shellfish and tree nuts (none of which is true). So the selection was beef carpaccio instead of the scallops, a pork belly dish instead of the lobster salad (100 times better than the lobster salad), and the dessert was simply offered without the peanut butter ice cream. All in all, I enjoyed the meal better, and will try to determine what I’m allergic to next time to mix it up further.

It just dropped on my app.  It is the same as everyone stated. The problem for me is I have to be cognizant of the menu during the cruise because many of the dishes are served in the CK too. As much as I like the scallop carpaccio or the soup I don't want to have it twice within the week.  Entrees won't be an issue bc I will just order veal, lamb or duck in the CK.

I noticed too that its basically all white wine.  No problem... I don't drink reds.  Hubby will be disappointed.  However, the salted caramel martini will ease his pain!
