happy cruisers 2
With fall nearly here now, and the incidence of viruses increasing, I'm wondering if anyone can speak to the current situation on cruise ships. Specifically, do you know if any passengers who may come down with COVID or RSV or something else are required to stay in their cabin (or be relocated to a different area on the ship)? Or is that now a thing of the past? I accept that I may catch something while on a cruise (and would certainly go out of my way to protect others) but fear having to be isolated in my cabin or another place onboard for the duration of the cruise. smokeybandit
No one is being put in isolation unless you're really sick and you likely wouldn't want to leave your room anyway. Same way it was before covid. CruiseGus
Carlos A.
You're not required but you SHOULD isolate yourself in those cases and Norovirus too. Vancity Cruiser
fireclan
Years ago when cruising, it was not unusual to walk down cabin hallways and see red quarantine signs on cabin doors. One winter cruise it was particularly noticeable. Always some virus or another floating around.
ChessE4
We masked when we got sick on last day. So pack masks for your cruise, just in case and for elevators. DDaley and Vancity Cruiser
Paid4c4
Last week we were on the Grandeur when one of our travel mates tested positive for covid. He was advised to stay in his cabin and that food would be brought to him. There was no enforcement of quarantine only advised to stay in cabin. The FB page for our cruise has indicated that a number of passengers on our cruise either had covid on the cruise or tested positive when they got home. happy cruisers 2
I'm relieved to know that you're not locked in a special cabin elsewhere on the ship. Totally agree that you should stay in your cabin and have food delivered. Masking is no problem for us. We worked in medical field and wore one every day of our careers. Thanks for the replies. Lovetocruise2002
I am on Liberty right now and someone just posted in our roll call group this morning that several of their family members had symptoms of Norovirus and they were isolated for a day or two. rjweber3, WAAAYTOOO, Neesa and 1 other 2

Is that self-imposed isolation or did a medical person on the ship mandate it?
smokeybandit
If you have full on noro you're not going to want to leave your cabin anyway. mscinmia, WAAAYTOOO, USCG Teacher and 3 others 4 1

happy cruisers 2
Oh, now I understand. I guess it's good I've not experienced that one. Hope to keep it that way too. USCG Teacher

Mturk
We just got back from Odyssey on Monday and my youngest had a bout with gastro on that sailing. My wife went with him to the infirmary, he was given a shot and told to stay in his cabin until he had no more symptoms and handed some Imodium and then sent to his cabin. When asked what his brothers should do since they were in one cabin together, she was told to just have them wash their hands frequently and properly. Shockingly, he was the only one to have gastro and it lasted a little more than 24 hours. Unfortunately for him, he missed the excursion to the ruins of Ephesus and beach day in Mykonos the next day! If anyone at my work (supermarket) gets one of the "Big Six" foodborne illnesses, they are out of work until cleared by a doctor.
