GrnMtnMan
Does RCCL ever provide a courtesy fare adjustment in emergencies? My family was due to board the Wonder of the Seas next Sunday, June 11. But my wife has had a medical emergency, and we won’t be able to travel for a few weeks. She went the to the ER last night and she’ll be hospitalized for a bit of this week. We’d like to simply shift our cruise by a few weeks, but the fares for those sailings are now $5,000-$10,000 more expensive than our current one, which we booked Fall 2022.We have travel insurance, but even though it covers 100% of qualified cancellations, that’s not enough to get us on a sailing a month later.Any chance that RCCL will extend us a courtesy and allow us to just shift the already paid-in-full-fare that was-the-most-expensive-sailing-at-the-time-we-booked-it to another sailing. And or trip is being handled by a travel agent, so I’m hoping she might be able to work some out too. Thanks! WAAAYTOOO
Very sorry to hear that your wife is in the hospital. I sure hope she is fully recovered very soon and that you get to cruise.
Ryan79
Only one way to find out….ask!
smokeybandit
You might find an agent who would waive the change fee, but unfortunately you're not going to get to rebook a new cruise at the price your current cruise is booked at. Pattycruise
Thankfully you have travel insurance! this is a fan page, not an official RC page. Personally I doubt they will do a switch, but you won’t know until you ask. Maybe email the CEO? Mbayley@rccl.com and plead your case. Include reservation #, ship and sail date as well as desired replacement, it can’t hurt.

GrnMtnMan
Well, travel agent said she asked, but nothing was offered. So we had to cancel, and will attempt to get funds back from insurance. The rates for the Wonder of the Seas for the dates we could go are 60% higher (so +$6,000 for same itinerary), with inferior room locations compared to our booking (which we made in September 2022). So we're gonna try for next summer. Thanks for the tips! fireclan, WAAAYTOOO and Neesa

twangster
The problem is that if Royal offered a courtesy fare adjustment it would quickly spread on social media all you have to do is tell Royal you broke a leg and you could change ship and sail date. Thousands would suddenly have broken legs at the last minute. Social media is the downfall of society. Ampurp85
@twangster You hit the nail on the head. Currently social media has everyone convinced that service sucks, the MDR sucks, and whatever rumor is facts. mscinmia, tjcruisers, twangster and 4 others
