I'm trying to decide between a balcony cabin on Deck 7 or 8.  Is one deck better than the other? Also the cabin on Deck 7 is closer to the stairs. Would that be a problem or be more convient? Thanks

I have never heard "stair noise" on a ship, and the only elevator noise I recall has been in traditional hotels.  I try to think about the places I normally go when I choose among rooms -- I hate walking long hallways, since I do that enough when I get lost!

Same here. I used to avoid rooms near an elevator on a cruise out of fear of noise. Now, I seek them out because being closer to the elevators is an advantage.

Thanks Matt! Are there any advantages or disadvantages for Deck 7 vs Deck 8?

We have stayed on both decks and to be honest we can’t remember any difference or preference.  As other have said we prefer a room close to the elevators now...Psycho’s knees don’t handle stairs well anymore.

Be aware on Oasis class the deck 7 aft elevator lobby is split and separated by the entrance to the boardwalk.  If your cabin is starboard and you take the port side elevator or stairs you can't walk to the starboard side and vice versa.

This means you have to pay attention and always use the elevator side that matches your cabin, port or starboard.

It only takes a few times picking the wrong side before this will point will be driven home.  Having said that I love deck 7 for easy access to the promenade, boardwalk and central park by stairs.

If not in a suite, we like deck 6 for these reasons:

- same deck as Boardwalk / AquaTheater aft and Spa forward.

- walk down one deck to the Promenade.

- walk down one deck to walking / jogging track.

- walk down two decks to Casino and Amber theater.

- walk up 2 decks to Central Park.

- walk down 1 or 2 decks to Main Dining Room.

So most of the time we do not need to bother with elevators and just take the stairs up down 1 or 2 decks for the majority of our activities. The exception is going to/from the pool deck 15.
