For those who love Grandeur!

Recommended Posts

Got the email from Concierge this morning!  @WAAAYTOOO, interesting, new Concierge, Carlington Barry? Is anyone familiar with him?  He just implemented Suite guest get lunch in Main Dining room on Embarkation day which is great, we always booked Chops and had to pay for it. So far, Everything I've requested he's already returned my emails and confirmed bookings.  We are so excited to be on this trip, hoping for no new huge issues with hubby! Our 25th Anniversary sailing into Boston Harbor where we got married!!

Carlington and Frances have been running the Diamond and Concierge lounges for a LONG time.  They just switch back and forth.  They are both excellent but I think Frances is just a notch better.  Nothing wrong with Carlington though !

Interesting that they are doing lunch in the MDR for suites.  Do they have a special menu or is it just an exclusive kind of thing ?  I guess it beats the WJ !!

We will be on Grandeur in October (12).  I just booked it a week or so ago.  We had some casino certs that we needed to use.  I can't believe that we actually eeked another trip out this year.  We are squeezing our vacation days so tight that they are screeching !

I thought I saw another user report a suite lunch on day one on another ship.

Perhaps a new sweet benny.

Yes, I thought I read that one of the ships was offering Chops on embarkation for Suites which I find a little difficult to believe since that venue is almost exclusively used for the Key on embarkation days, these days.  The MDR would make more sense.

Didn't they just have to move The Key lunch to MDR on one of the ships because of the numbers of guests with the key?

Perhaps.  It makes sense that they would since they have apparently abandoned the concept of limiting the number that they sell for each cruise.

Oh mannnn @WAAAYTOOO I'll just miss you on Grandeur, I'm on the Oct 26th sailing.  But it is nice to hear about the MDR on Embarkation though, because I was kind of dreading doing the WJ on embarkation and didnt want to see if maybe the UDP was going to work or not for Chops, so now there's a nice option to take a load off and really get to starting the cruise.

The unlimited "Key" sales kind of baffles me though.  Because if its for everyone, then what does it really include?  Just priority embarkation and Voom?  Kind of loses its value without Chops on the smaller ships since you can almost always get a good seat at shows without the Key.

I think this is great but again I really wish they would publish and standardize all perks across the fleet.  Otherwise guests end up with incorrect expectations when booking ship to ship.

Carlington said he just implemented it on Grandeur so who knows.  It makes sense I guess.  Celebrity, if you're a Suite guest you can have lunch in Lumanae.  We shall see! February, there was no option on Grandeur so booked Chops for lunch and paid for it but that was before they were offering the Key on Grandeur.

Interesting, I asked for several items and he got back to me right away, made reference that it was our 25th anniversary etc.  Francis never did that and didn't get back to me till days later. We shall see! LOL

I thought I had read there was an option to eat in the MDR for anyone that day who didn't want to go to the Windjammer?

Another option is Park Cafe in the Solarium?

Curious as I don't thrive in large crowds and was hoping to partake of lunch on embarkation day in a more sedate set of surroundings....

I was on Grandeur in April - my cruise compasses are posted in that section here.  You can take a look at what was open when.

Thank you! I definitely mis-remembered or it changed from when I read it somewhere last. Looks like Chops and the WJ are the only places open for lunch on embarkation as of the June sailing however the Park Cafe and Latitudes are open for "snacks" during "lunch time" so I will probably slip off to the Park Cafe (that is in the adult only Solarium, correct?) for lunch.

The Cafe Latitudes opens at the same time as WJ and Park opens about an hour after. That will work since I usually intermittent fast and don't typically eat until 1400 or later!
