I am prepared to cancel or kick the can down the road if masks are going to be required on my next sailing. I have two medical issues that make it difficult to function with one on, so I just isolate myself like anyone who has been deemed persona non grata.

I admit to really disliking masks as it is and actually feel that they are of negligible benefit at best in day to day life, especially if people are rummaging through their pockets to get one for going into a shop or onto a train etc.
I am fortunate not to live in a country where it is required to wear face coverings outside. I could understand wearing one indoors such as at the buffet or in the promenade but all outdoor areas is taking the michael in my opinion especially if physical distancing is involved. I don't understand why and it would be a detriment to my cruise enjoyment if I'm being honest. We've had a lot of outdoor gatherings in the UK such as protests and gatherings on beaches and they've made basically no difference to case numbers so it just seems dictatorial to make people wear them outside.

I will treat cruises the same as other places or businesses that require masks: I will avoid them until this passes.

Good luck to all my fellow crew members who are currently on Quantum Of The Seas.

Lets prove to the world that cruising can be done in a healthy and safe way!

Hopefully it won't be too much longer before I get asked to rejoin a cruise ship, and head back to work. I'm amazed at how much love for the cruising there still is, and it's people like you that will keep this industry alive!

I was logged into my account looking for cruise planner deals.  I'm still able to shop cruise planner prices on different cruises but if I try to browse new cruises to book I see the same error.
However that's limited to Chrome.  If I launch Safari I can browse new cruises.

All of this emphasizes that the cruising public will run into a cluster in the opening months. I don't care about my own exposure to a disease with a flat death rate, but all of this complexity and friction isn't worth it until the perception of overkill kicks in. Cruising will suck for a long while.

What the vaccine will hopefully do is eliminate the public health emergency which will hopefully remove restrictions that have been put in place.

A test cruise sounds about as appealing to me as a root canal.

To me, it's good news as long as those who prefer not to take a vaccine can assume the risk in not doing so when booking.

I am in complete agreement. I go down the rabbit holes of the CDC, WHO, NEJM and NIH and scientific opposition to what politicians, media and others promote every day. If you go into the bowels of those sites, you realize media and government marketing programs aren't being truthful, I have a growing library of links and pics built since the stat below came out in August. This hasn't changed. I am only posting this because the shaming of those who question this needs to end. If anyone feels better wearing a mask, please do so. We aren't staying home for you any more than we expect someone else to stay home for us.
At the same time, I will stay off ships until masks are made optional. A vacation should not be oppressive.

(I know the argument about asymptomatic transmission. I will refrain from spamming this thread with the information that counters that idea -- everyone will get this virus one day anyway)

Per CDC most people that have contracted the virus have been wearing masks. Europe is under a second wave as well and have been under a very restrictive mask mandate. The push should be for the vaccine, hopefully available by end of this year.

I saw some pics of the welcoming of Apex to this hemisphere, but didn't see this YouTube video from Captain Kate on this thread, so I am posting it here. It makes the Cunard meetup in the River Merzy a few years ago look like amateur hour...impressive as it was.

I bought The Key once and I think it is worth it if you are getting VOOM, and if you don't want to rush getting to a show. We boarded late, so we couldn't do the Chops lunch or utilize the carry on storage, which I think is minor. I think anything more than $24.99, it loses value.

we were on the Jewel 2 cabins up from the aft cabins across the back.  There was a noticeable vibration when we came in to port and the ship was lining up with the pier.  Other than that, we did not notice any unusual vibrations.  We love the aft cabins and always try to book rooms toward the back, or the cabins on the very back.
