But....they didn't. They do not have access to the card on file, as mentioned above it is an outside company and they would not have access to the credit card on file. 

The benefit to Royal Caribbean is RC didn't have to code up the site and logic to make RU work. Means they were able to offer it faster to customers with less up-front investment.

Don't forget the free bag of laundry on 5+ day cruises !  That's a huge benefit at D+

Yep. We were very happy and content to reach Diamond but are now looking forward to the extra drinks, the BOGO meals, and extra internet days at D+ after our next cruise.

As stated above, there are a few nice perks for being Gold but you are correct in that the real perks come at Diamond.  The free drinks and use of the Diamond Lounge are the perks I value the most.  I also don't think there is enough of a difference in perks as you progress to Platinum, Emerald, etc on the way to Diamond.
Keep cruising and you will find yourself at Diamond before you know it.
 

We got the use of robes when we got to Platinum. Granted they were a wee bit tatty and quite gigantic (my 10 year old looked hilarious in hers) but.....robes, man. Robes.

I don't know if all of you know this, but they charge a full cancellation fee regardless of booking with Next Cruise. So that means if you book with a reduced deposit, to change it is the loss of the $100 plus you need to pay the $250pp for the new booking. If you outright cancel, you pay $250 and will owe them the $150. 

Used to love this service, glad to see it coming back.  Hopefully to more airports. 

I still say that knowing the day of the week is meaningless for passengers. What we need to know is what day of the cruise we're on.
I don't care if it's Tuesday or Wednesday. I DO care if it's Day 3 or Day 4.

On Wonder last week, your photos showed up in a folder on the App within 45 minutes to an hour of being taken, that was a first for us.

One North American 110v style outlet on each side of the bed, three North American 110V outlets and two Euro power port 220v at the desk plus two USB charging ports at the desk.

It is not uncommon, however, for people to put tags on their carry-ons, just in case they accidentally leave them sitting somewhere and they walk away.

Btw @twangster has at some point outlined 2nd day stratagy where you go without on boarding day, use spouses 2 free days, the use your 2 days as the discount for remaining day purchase.  I actual made a spread sheet that calculated the doing this vrs pre purchase.
With 3 D+ on board and sharing internet access on an 8 day cruise its practical free

Using my advanced mathematical prowess (tongue firmly in cheek), I have determined that for 7+ nights it works out slightly less to purchase the package than it does to use the "free" days + pay full price for the remaining days.  Now, to further challenge my already limited math skills, we are also able to use a 30% off Prime (casino) discount for whatever days remain after we use our freebies....so that definitely helps.  Anyway...for any 7+ day cruises that I have booked, I have purchased individual internet plans for myself and Dan (recognizing the ongoing feud regarding individual packages vs multi-device, single person packages).  For all of our cruises less than 7 nights, we are using the freebie + 30% off [casino discount] strategy.  Honestly, I have kinda quit worrying about the cost.  Out of convenience I use the aforementioned strategies and after our 13 October Mariner sailing, I can quit worrying about it !!  Hallelujah !
