I love Paradise Beach and do recommend it.
It's a great choice because you pay for what you order, which is great for people that will not drink a lot and/or have kids with them.
Since you pay as you go, if you'd rather go elsewhere or do something else, you don't feel like you're invested in spending the entire day.
As far as I know, it is not.

Matt (I think) has said, it's better to pay attention to the dollar amount than the certain percentages.

What’s the big deal. There is a helipad on board Harmony if they needed to land. Just saying. 🚀

People really sneak into the Diamond Lounge?!!!  Is that a thing?
We are so grateful to be cruising again never really thought about mentioning the chair hogs, alcohol bootleggers, and snooty suite people....but they are still there!
Overhead on our last cruise..."I'm Diamond Plus, I shouldn't have to wait in this line." or "This Elevator is for Suite Guests only."

    Lol
We heard this on Freedom back in November while waiting in the line to get our covid test for the back to back cruise.
I laughed and asked them why they thought they were better than the rest of us who were waiting our turn. They didn’t answer.

Then we ended up sitting near them in the lounge for the b2b meeting.  They didn’t reply this time either when I said “hello again”. 🤷‍♂️

Make sure to take daily/evening advantage of the Concierge Lounge. And don’t forget to give the Concierge a nice tip on the last night. They work wonders for suite guests.

On the Odyssey, Chops closed for lunch on the embarkation day. We went to Giovannis for lunch.

SimGuy reacted to WAAAYTOOO in Chops lunch on Embarkation Day
If you have the UDP you will be eligible to have lunch in whichever specialty dining venue is open on embarkation day.  Sometimes that is Chops, sometimes that is Giovannis.  Those who have the Key are served in the MDR so you will not have to compete with them for seating.

speed of service, attention to detail, attention to drink refills, showing genuine concern for the food quality and promptly correcting any deficiency, response to special requests, e.g. ice cream or key lime pie for breakfast (yes I did!)

    Guys, just want your opinion.
If I've paid already 18% gratuity during purchase of package.

Do you give more tips at the specialty restaurant?

I always do but I'm also always using the UDP or in Star Class which makes it more difficult to actually put a dollar figure on each meal as the price I paid for the package is the same, thus the gratuity is the same, no matter how many times I end up using the package during my cruise.

In theory they charge you $10 or similar if you order multiple entrees, however, reports vary widely if that is enforced.  Other possible extras are ordering "premium" options (lobster and a few others in Chops for example) or going over your allowance per visit in venues like Playmakers/Portside BBQ ($20 per visit, per person) and Izumi Sushi ($35 per visit).
We have had UDP multiple times and always ended up with a $0 receipt at the end.
  20. Thanks
SimGuy reacted to AshleyDillo in Specialty Restaurant Surcharges
Gratuity was already paid for when you purchased the package. At most specialty restaurants you should end up with a $0 bill.
Izumi hibachi does charge a $10 surcharge if you choose to dine there ($15 if you choose a 2 meat combo).
If the specialty restaurant menu has no prices on it other than a few items, those specific items will cost extra even with the UDP.
If the entire menu has prices, then it's considered an ala carte venue and there is a $ limit per person per visit which depends on which restaurant it is ($20 at Playmakers and Portside BBQ, $35 at Izumi sushi).
Remember, UDP can also be used at Johnny Rockets. Milkshakes are not included with the dining package, though, so that would be a surcharge EXCEPT if you have the Refreshment or Deluxe beverage package. Then milkshakes are included.

SimGuy reacted to BrianB in Day before health questionnaire
I think the health questionnaire and the vaccination card uploading on the app are still works in progress. Sometimes I can access the health questionnaire and submit it without a problem…but most times, either I can’t access it or it won’t let me submit it. I usually end up answering the questions at the port. No problem, takes less than a minute. Also, some check-ins ask for a photo of the card…some don’t.
Remember…….even if you successfully upload a photo of the vaccination card, you must still present the physical card at the port!…where they take a photo of it.🤔

SimGuy reacted to twangster in Day before health questionnaire
The vax card upload remains a work in progress.  I've seen it disappear then reappear in the app.  I've only used my phone to upload vax card pics so I can't address your scenario but I wouldn't worry too much about it, it takes 30 seconds for them to do it in the terminal.

We received emails and notifications on our phones when the questionnaire was available.   We received them 24 hours prior to boarding.

I checked the app 26 hours prior and it told me to wait and I would be notified when it was time (I’m paraphrasing…I don’t remember the exact wording).

SimGuy reacted to Brando95 in Galveston Check-in
Just be mindful that they really are sticking to their check in time you're given during the online check-in. They may run ahead of time and you may get lucky by getting there a little early but if they're on time then you won't get in any earlier than your appointed time. Mine is 12:30 so I'll probably shoot to arrive at noon and hope to get lucky but expecting 12:30.
