ChrisK2793 got a reaction from Funeegal in Can't find answer - Positive COVID test for one but not the other
    1) John Doe can’t sail single without paying for 2 people no matter what.  If Jane Doe tests positive and John Doe still wants to go ……. Jane Doe would get her port charges and taxes refunded as a “no show” …….then the right thing to do would be for John Doe to reimburse Jane Doe for the rest of her cruise fare, because at that point as a single, John Doe would have to pay even more for a single cruise fare at 200% of the current cruise fare if she cancelled instead of no showed.  John Doe will get the double C&A points as a single.
    2) If John Doe calls and tells them Jane Doe is in another state and tested positive, they MIGHT say neither Jane nor John can go on the cruise.  You’ll also have to provide proof of the positive test for you both to get refunded if they do say neither of you can go.
Either way, if one of you sails and not the other, they won’t refund anything that was paid other than the port charges and taxes for the one who doesn’t sail. ….. the one sailing still has to pay the full cruise fare and gets the double C&A points. You’d BOTH have to cancel because of her positive Covid test for them to do a refund of cruise fare.

Chris you're right about the tax my fault. Package Price 372,-- minus 50,-- Plus Tax 66,96 = 388,96 Total. But the actual Bill is 438,96. So there's still the difference of 50,--. Will call RC but i hate it if they make mistakes in their calculation. Teddy I didn't change my cabin category.

So far on the cancelled cruises, Royal has said they’re giving BOTH a 100% Refund AND a 100% FCC …… It almost makes me hope my 2/12 Symphony cruise gets cancelled ……. I wouldn’t mind getting 8k cash back to my credit card plus 8k in FCC for another cruise LOL

Just have the person not coming be a “No Show” ….. that way the person going doesn’t have to pay more  than their current total rate for the room AND all the port charges/taxes for the person who “no shows” will be refunded.
No matter what, 1 person in the room will have to pay the cost of 2 people being in the room, but the room could cost more if you cancel one of them now.

ChrisK2793 reacted to VACruiser in I think a lot of people are overlooking ...
It's not the virus itself that has a hold on the psyche of the population because we have lived with disease and viruses our whole lives. It's the over reaction of those in charge of us that has us scared and talking nothing but Covid19 as if it has the death rate of Ebola - it doesn't even come close.
As this is a cruise site, and I'm sure this thread will get locked soon enough, I'll keep the rest of my opinions on those in charge of the Covid response to myself.

Book the Walgreens ID NOW tests in case CVS cancels just to be safe! But the CVS antigen tests are accepted by Royal, to answer your original question.

Thank you for the response, I will keep that in mind as an option too.  My children are under 12 but fully vaccinated. Based on what I've read on the website and a call with customer service to confirm they can follow the vaccinated guest policy.

I did price it out last night.  You're right.  It's about the same price as a Jr. Suite. This may be an option for us.   Thanks.

ChrisK2793 reacted to WAAAYTOOO in Grand Suite question
    Hi !!
This is really JUST a personal opinion and many may disagree with it.  If it were me, I would not pay a dime more for a GS on Anthem UNLESS you are really into the suite perks.  The GS itself, IMO, has LESS usable living space than does a JS.  This is b/c there is a wall that partially separates the bed area and the living area which completely cuts the room up into 2 small spaces rather than 1 large space.  The bathroom is a mess, IMO.  They have disconnected, bizarrely arranged sinks and 2 exit doors (one to the bedroom and one to the entrance hallway).
If the suite perks are important to you (ability to eat all meals in the Coastal Kitchen, complimentary Voom, Suite Lounge/Concierge access, etc.) then you will not get those in a JS (except possibly dinner in the CK) and you should consider the GS.  If you're only looking for a bit more cabin space, I would say definitely go for the JS and leave the GS alone.
I would consider ANY other full suite over the GS....but the chances of RU to any of the higher end suites is probably pretty remote.  There are more GS than there are any of those other suites.
Would I turn down a GS if it were offered to me at no charge ?  Nope...but I will never book another Q class GS intentionally if I am paying !

Agreed Brian, it’s fools gold at this point to aim for a zero Covid policy like China and Hong Kong are attempting without draconian measures (which aren’t working). What the cruise industry has done with Mandating vaccines, pre cruise testing and strategic masking is all anyone can reasonably do. And yet cases are still occurring, though I suspect most are asymptomatic especially amongst the crew. We will get through this wave and hopefully enough population immunity will have been achieved that we will have a solid backstop against future variants, which will occur, and be endlessly mentioned by the media. As has been mentioned ad nauseam by now , you are more likely to pick up Covid on land than a ship.

Well here’s some good news! A parent posted yesterday that her daughter is on her way to France to join the ship. Wonder will sail to a few ports to pick up crew then take a 14 day TA to satisfy quarantine requirements.

Sounds like she will be on time for March 4! (I booked the 3rd cruise to be safe after the Odyssey situation 😁)

Just got off Adv of the Seas NYE cruise.  Was very frustrated with their new rules for Adv Ocean.  Kids of all ages are grouped together to try to play social distance games.  Spots on the floor they must stand on.  Give me a break!  We were allowed 2 night sessions and 1 day or morning session.  Also annoyed me.  Even if some of the night sessions weren’t full they wouldn’t allow us to add our kids to it.
Our next cruise isn’t booked until October and I can assure you we won’t be on it unless this all goes away.
We love family time during the day and then date night time at night.  It just wasn’t the same.  My kids who usually LOVE Adv Ocean also needed to be bribed to go there.  They were miserable.

Funny thing, 25 of them lined up on the kids slide at the pool with no masks on isn’t an issue at all though… Just doesn’t make any sense to me.

When we went on Mariner last month, our boarding time was 1230, since we had a suite we could board an hour earlier than our scheduled time.  We got to the port at 1030, expecting to have to wait until 1130 to board the hour early, but they rushed us right thru when they saw us and we were on the ship by 1045.  Other people who weren’t in suites in our party, had the same experience, arrived at 1030, expected to just hang out until their 1230 time, but were also sent right thru to board.
