This. Consider a VPN. Doubt hackers are taking a cruise just to hack ... But, safe than sorry.

If her cruise was for May 2022 then it's not covered under CWC. So this is correct.

I think at this point, if it was me, I would keep fighting with Royal, find that FCC and book the cruise at the higher price (with a travel agent).
    Here's why -
I don't disagree this person needs to finally have someone stand up to them, but I see this as a tough case to win (disclaimer not a lawyer or even close just my gut). Even if they do convict your friend of fraud will the judge award you something you really didn't lose (besides the deposit, which there may be a FCC coming)? Also, if no FCC you can just file a complaint with your credit card. Is there a tangible value in this situation? You lost a price lock but not the actual money. You mentioned lawyer. Do you have one? What do they say about possible outcomes? Would lawyer fees be covered in a perfect win situation? Does this person have the means to actually pay the restitution? What about your mental health (IE: Stress) during the case?
For me, it might just end up being another life lesson added to my spreadsheet.
A side note. If this person is willing to mess with your vacation they are willing to do more. If you don't already, get some identity protection and maybe a password manager (and make each password strong and unique for everything, including this site). I don't have or use the product but hear great things about Norton 360 + LifeLock, it's a nice all in one package.
Good luck, I am sorry your "friend" is a shitty person.
Little life lesson from "A Bronx Tale" that may apply here.

From the perspective of me being a fellow RC Blog "friend", if it were me, I'd take the FCC and move on.
Wasting time, emotional energy and $$$ on something like this is a fools errand...all you've experienced is a bit of inconvenience...nobody died or suffered permanent injury.
All this will do is keep you in a state of perpetual anger and prevent you from enjoying your life while the legal process grinds away for a year or two...just ain't worth it in my humble opinion.
Good luck and Godspeed to you, Rita. 🙂

Identity fraud is a serious issue. I have dealt with it myself.
I think an important lesson to learn here is to know who you're dealing with and staying on top of things. I'm surprised an email communication of the cruise cancellation was not sent to you immediately after cancellation, so you could have handled it then and there, and not weeks later. Always check your reservation because even without someone cancelling your reservation, some other weird IT issues could have happened. I look at my RC account every day practically to check it and the cruise planner.
Not only contacting the police to report the fraud, but other consumer agencies and the FTC, so you have documentation.  I would have fought a little harder too with RC if this happened to me, either rebooking or getting my deposit back. I don't think legally RC can give you those voice recordings unless it is court ordered, but if you know and have other proof of who did this to you, I'd file a small claims suit against them to get your money back.
Agreeing with the others, cruise with confidence policy should help you get your money back.

Yes! I really enjoyed the innovation and changes in both Oasis & Quantum class ships but still keeping the feel of a Royal Caribbean signature ship. I have faith Icon will not disappoint continuing that trend. I've already warned the wife, I need a new ship (& class) smell, so Q3/Q4 2023 we are cruising LOL.

Results get posted in the Navica app, which you can email or print. Or you can show Royal Caribbean the results in the app.

And I and my customer's opinion is different.  That's why I don't think we can assume anything about what the crew would want.  I don't know that they would be honest if asked.  I'm just a little embarrassed that I had never thought about it until this thread.

I was on the second to last Adventure sailing where masks were mandated again. Honestly I was upset at first, one of the reasons for picking it was no masks. It wasn't that bad. A lot of venues were no masks required. Basically had to wear it from place to place (hallways, elevators, etc) didn't ruin the cruise for me.
I lost my mask on the pool deck and I made a dash to room for another. I missed that suggestion on the survey but a box of masks from outside area to inside for those "lost on pool deck" masks would have been nice.
Heck, even around the ship too, those disposable masks always have straps breaking.

Last few cruises I've seen people disembark via ambulance. If I recall you were on Adventure with me back in September ... I believe the port was Cozumel, but the ship across the way had an ambulance pulled up along side. I saw it from the pool deck.
Edit: add picture, it was Cozumel.

Just read this in a Facebook group. Something different to help them out. Not sure how much of this applies to Royal:
    From another cruise page:
    Spread the word!!!
We are on the MG now. If you are getting on a ship in the next couple of weeks here is a suggestion. The crew can’t get off. If you get your room Stewart and waiters something. Get them toiletries. Toothpaste, deodorant and such. They apparently have them on ship for crew but they are expensive. If possible pass onto your cruise Facebook pages.

Walgreens at midnight seemed to open up the next booking window.
At midnight tonight (technically tomorrow) Thursday slots should open for you.
What I did last night at 11:30 PM was go through all the steps and got to the appointment pick part. Nothing for Wednesday, yet. I continued watching TV and shortly after midnight hit refresh and BAM Wednesday slots opened at a Walgreens offering rapid 20 minutes away... I had lots of choices with times too.

    I'm on the Westside.
I got an appointment at a CVS for Friday (2 days before sailing).  I'm also going to the Lane Wiley Senior Center a few blocks from me this Thursday (3 days before sailing)
I just called Royal and they told me testing is 3 days before sailing for vaccinated guests.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll have the results on or before the day of sailing.

Looks like we'll be the guinea pigs. Just did a PCR test at CVS today but we are also doing the Binax test proctor administered. We board Friday I'll show the Binax first and see what happens. If it's rejected we should have our PCR as back up. I'll post here our experience.
