I hope things are back to normal by November 1st. Any chance of the CSO being extended past Nov 1st? Or is that just crazy talk? We are talking about the CDC here...

If I ran a cruise line I would direct all effort to become certified under the CSO to cease immediately pending a revision that is workable.  If a revised CSO was published it could be reviewed upon release to determine how viable it would be to seek certification.
The more likely path to a restart is something occuring that takes the CSO out of the equation.    Until that happens spending another dime playing along with the CDC is insanity.  Much better to hope for something that eradicates the CSO.  Basically we need a CSO vaccine.
To that end I'd direct all efforts at having 100% of US operational capacity available to sail on Nov. 1 with no protocols in place, if I were king for a day.
Nov. 1 = business as usual.  Anything prior is only going to happen if the CSO happens to be wiped out.

I bought our drink package for our November cruise simply because, aside from the $18 intern special, it was the best price I have seen in a loooonnnngggg time and I didn't want to miss out on that price. I haven't seen it go that low since, so I think it was the right call. I haven't purchased our excursions yet, but if they are the right price, I will book them.

Line cutters...in the WJ, at a bar, waiting for doors to open at a show, at the ice cream machine, getting on /off the elevators. I know it's not RC specific, but it seems quite a few people lose their manners on vacation.

    Okay number 2.
Having to re-enter my details over and over again when searching for a cruise.  CAS #, age, state of residence, etc.
I should be able to enter that once per session or login and it already knows my state, my age, my CAS#, etc.

Momof4crazytocruise reacted to twangster in Those who have rebooked often: refundable vs non-refundable rates
Keep in mind that the type of deposit is only relevant prior to making final payment.  Once you reach final payment due date and you pay for the cruise in full, at that point standard cancellation terms apply regardless if you had a refundable or non-refundable deposit.
You can convert a refundable rate to non-refundable rate but not the other way around.  Often though cruise prices increase over time and when you convert it's done at prevailing rates on that day, not what the rates were when you originally booked.  For this reason it often doesn't make sense to convert from refundable to non-refundable.

Yes! I also believe a certain segment of our population is approaching going off the deep end. A fully vaccinated acquaintance recently posted that she and her husband finally ate at a restaurant “don’t worry! We ate outside!”

These are the same people that have now been conditioned to avoid Level 4 countries and if you do visit a restaurant and eat inside or travel to a Level 4 country you’re labeled reckless and putting others in danger. It’s past ridiculous in my opinion. Life is full of choices but I fear our freedom of choice is being smothered to put it mildly.

I believe Jill to be right. They are having a tantrum they can't control the whole world. Today the Congress added a bill to the Senate one trying to bring this to an end. It doesn't bod well to have multiple states suing then bills from both house and senate looking to clip their wings.  Bahama numbers very low. Their peak came in October with five times as many active cases as they have now (2500 vs 450). Most days have no deaths. About 40 new cases a day nation wide...  CDC are behaving like spoiled children who's toys are being taken away...

You are exactly correct. Representatives from the Battleship Foundation said they got about 40,000 visitors a year (before they closed down for Covid).  They expect 250,000 visitors a year if located in Galveston.  The increased ticket and souvenir revenue would fund the development of the facilities in Galveston and would also help pay off the loan necessary for the refurbishment.
...and I totally agree with your recommendation for Katie's Seafood.  The food is great and they will have a great view of the battleship!

I called RC to ask about the 2 weeks not yet showing for Allure.  Revenue is still working on them, and they should be up and bookable by week's end.
But I have more exciting news!  I asked about the Grandeur to Galveston voyage.
He was able to book it for me.  10 days, April 24-May 4, 2022.
Great Itinerary, just 3 sea days - (sorry about the spacing below) BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS
    ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA KRALENDIJK,
    BONAIRE WILLEMSTAD,
    CURACAO CRUISING
    COLON, PANAMA
    PUERTO LIMON, COSTA RICA CRUISING
    COZUMEL, MEXICO CRUISING
    GALVESTON, TEXAS

(I had to cancel the May 1, 2022  Liberty sailing that I found at such a great price, but much prefer the Grandeur repositioning itinerary above.)

So my son just turned 18 and asked if he could get vaccinated, jumped online and in about 5 minutes found over 200 appointments within 15 minutes of our home all within the next few days.
At this point anyone in Florida that wants to be vaccinated can be (Maybe other areas of the state aren't quite as strong so lets give it a couple of weeks extra to be safe). Add a couple more weeks for second shots and a couple more weeks for the "ripening period" post shots to full strength on the vaccination effect.
So amending my statement, by the end of May every resident of Florida that wants to be vaccinated can be vaccinated and the vaccine fully in effect.
At that point asking people to wear masks, socially distance, shut their businesses and their lives down is no longer about me keeping "you" safe because their is no other way to counter the virus, its about me affecting my life to keep "you" safe because you refuse to take the step of getting vaccinated to keep yourself safe. At that point there is no reason to keep anything shut down. (You in this context does not mean ChessE4 since I have no idea if you have been vaccinated or not but refers to the "you" that demands protection by me doing things instead of "you" taking responsibility for doing what you need to do to protect yourself).
If you aren't comfortable getting the vaccine, great do so at your own risk.
If you aren't comfortable coming to Florida to get on a a cruise, great, don't.

In terms of following CDC COVID protocols, I think pretty much everyone knows they aren't exactly proven to be effective.
They already admitted they made up the 6 foot rule, before amending it to the 3 foot rule so that we can safely send kids back to school (footnote Florida schools have been in session since August).
They now admit the whole sterilize every surface you can find, every time you see it phenomenon wasn't accurate either ...
Anyone that thinks that haphazardly wearing a random assortment of cloth masks while wandering around outdoors has had a huge impact should immediately contact me about some fantastic waterfront property for sale down in the Everglades.

We are at the point where cruising in July should be a non-issue. By then truly we should be at the point where every one who wants want can have one, so make the decision now that by then life will be as normal as it ever will be again and let everyone start planning on it.

CDC recommendations change all the time and are often times not based in science but politics. 6 ft changed to 3ft for social distancing in schools. CDC now saying plexiglass dividers are not needed in schools. Wearing masks outside where multiple studies have now shown that there is virtually ZERO chance if acquiring COVID outdoors. Kids required to wear mask while playing outdoors is anti-science. Florida has the right to determine their own Covid protocols and looking at Florida compared to Michigan,NY and NJ where Covid protocols are stricter, they are doing better. I think States like Texas and Florida have shown the CDC that they are ready to open their cruise ports. Sorry, I will follow the data rather than the highly politicized CDC whose director has to walk back her proclamations on a regular basis
