Wow !  That's a lot of eatin' !!!  Good for you.  We love the UDP.

You bring up an interesting point.  Will prices for onboard services (drinks, food, internet) stay the same, go up or go down ?  Of course, none of us know the answer to that.  Just postulating...

I have heard that a cruise makes the majority of its "profit" from onboard sales.  The cruise fare is basically "break even" but most, if not all, of a cruise's profits are realized from onboard sales.  With the cruise line losing SO much money right now from cancellations, it seems to me that they would be hesitant to lower the only remaining revenue stream - that of onboard sales.  So far, I haven't really seen any kind of trend.  The so-so sales are there but the really GOOD sales have not been visible (at least on any of my bookings).  We were lucky enough to snatch a 2 person Voom package for the Brilliance group cruise for $18.99 but that was a while back and it hasn't come down to that level again, since.

Anyone else seen any kind of trend with onboard services ?

We have deluxe drinks was included when we booked at a silly £1000 pp for a Central  Park view...and when we were on the Oasis in December we loved the new eating places especially the Playmakers ? I will need rolling off the ship by the time we get to Miami ?

I know this is topics has been discussed a lot lately for anyone who has a cruise in the Med with three of the five ports being in Italy.  Final payment is coming up on 23 March, and I just read RCL looks like they are extending final payment on some itineraries in this region by a month.

My real decision is do I make the final payment and roll the dice knowing if Italy is still on the "hot list", RCL may cancel the Italy ports and possibly substitute them for something else (not sure Allure can dock in many places due to the size)?   I really want to go, but I don't want to find out at the last minute that RCL cancels the Italy ports, adds additional sea days, and refunds the excursion costs.

I have been looking forward to this trip and understands RCL has no control over what is happening right now.   So, questions:

    1.  Considering the cruise isn't until late June what are the chances of RCL cancelling the cruise?

    2.  Does anyone know if any itineraries have been modified for current cruises that are occurring over in the Med?

If this was a Eastern/Western Caribbean cruise, I would have no worries as sea days would be welcomed.  However, it is the Med and seeing the sights is why I chose this cruise.

Italy have just announced they are to play all sports behind closed doors, close all schools, colleges etc until mid March so hopefully that will help the situation ? Oh and they’ve banned kissing ??‍♂️
id pay final payment and hope for the best..

I think maybe those are UK booking rules, perhaps ?  With NA booking rules, a no-show at boarding will receive no $$ refund.  Only the taxes and port fees will be refunded.  Double points is an enigma.  Some say yes and some say no.

    makes sense.
Wish he had done double occupancy for the 14 night Allure cruise in November ? instead he booked single fare and saved just a few pounds, would have been interesting to see what refund he would have gotten...

but you no longer will receive double points.  I just sailed Symphony and the other passenger was a "no show" and I did not get double points.  I called in and was told that I would no receive as it was booked for 2 people and the other was not canceled off.  I gave up

My son sails solo and did the no show in September for some reason he got over £800 refund he paid total £2k on the Oasis and in December he got just £200 refund from Oasis total paid £1300 both times he got double points...

Not every one receives the RoyalUp offers.  There’s no way to “get invited”.  I have read of others being permitted to bid by using the website you referenced, but personally, I don’t believe it.  IMO, unless you get the email invitation, or at least, unless they INTENDED that you get the email invitation, you will not be able to bid.

On the UK site we have this..I never get emails on the royal up but my wife does..?

The BBC over the past 10 tears has become a shadow of what it used to be for factual journalism, they have become a puppet of the government and the rich / influential. their political team have a free reign to say whatever their government sources leak them, with no traditional checks and balances ie. obtaining credible  confirmation before publishing.

Yep the BBC just copy what everyone else says or make stuff up ??‍♂️ Their breaking news is generally old news..this establishment needs to be gone and stop making us pay £160 per year for the privilege ?

I'm going on a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale to Cozumel Mexico March 12-16 and I was curious if I chose to bid in the RoyalUp program if there is a way I can guarantee a handicap stateroom? I'm in a wheelchair but I would not mind taking advantage of possible cancellations due to the coronavirus scare. However I obviously don't want to spend my money and then get a room I can't even access. Does anyone know if this is possible?

No they won’t guarantee that, it’s best to go on the waitlist for accessible cabins, upgrades one of the any disadvantages to wheelchair users..??‍♂️

We are on the May 10th sailing

    twangster

It would stink (really bad) if we skipped Italy, we have three ports there.  Do you have any clue what they will replace with Italy?  Just want to do lite research now vs trying to figure out something on the ship last minute.

Sorry Chris H, not trying to hijack your thread but since you will be there May too, might be helpful if Twangster or anyone else has an idea.

They will struggle to find alternative ports as none are big enough for the allure, we’ve done this itinerary on the oasis a few times and I asked why they don’t change it up every year and was told no other ports can take the Oasis class...?
