Cruising to Retirement!

Thanks again for blogging your Edge cruise.  We have never been on Celebrity but had 3 cruises on Celebrity moved from 2020 to now 2022.  You sure gave us a very good overview and important information on Celebrity along with great pics as always!  We are Diamond Plus with Royal so will be going on as Elite.  We are going on a 6 night in July in the Retreat on Equinox and an 8 night in the Aqua Class in August.  The Edge wasn't available at that time of year.  The price at the time of our booking for the 6 night was less in the Retreat with the all the onboard credit and premium included than the Aqua Class.  That will never happen again I'm sure.  I'm just realistic not pessimistic.  So we definitely pulled the trigger!   We are more balcony people with an unlimited dining package couple!  We both love to go on as many cruises as possible with limited vacation time.   Retirement can't come soon enough.  Now if we won the lottery we would explore other options too I'm sure!  I love all the great adventures and activities people do.  I love to try many new things that people share!  Please keep sharing all your great experiences Twangster!  Much appreciated!

Thanks!  We found the document from Royal that has December 31st.  I guess the only other possibility is if the CSO is cancelled October 31st, Royal could possibly cancel their policy that goes to December 31st.  We would be not be nervous at all if Royal told us that that policy would still stay then even if the CSO cancelled.  This Variant is more present each day, and the idea of having to get our own travel home, and we aren't eligible for the booster until mid December is fearful for us.  
I really appreciate your help.  If you hear that Royal will extend no matter if CSO doesn't, I would sincerely appreciate you sharing!
We are so excited to be back on Harmony.  We went on her when she left out of Ft. Lauderdale many years ago and had another one scheduled over Labor day 2019 which was the Hurricane cruise!  Ha!  We always have said our first cruise back would be the Harmony so our fingers and toes are tightly crossed!

My immediate concern regarding the C. Virus is if lots more of the small caribbean countries stop letting ships into dock in their ports can Royal and Celebrity actually let a cruise go that hasn't stopped at a port or is there possibly minimum stops required?  Are the cruise lines permitted to begin a cruise knowing they can't dock at a port?  Or would we be allowed to float around for all 7 days?  I'm not saying that wouldn't still fun but of course we would miss stopping at the ports.  We have our first cruise on Celebrity on March 22nd Edge very soon and are definitely concerned what could possibly happen in this case?  Royal and Celebrity seem like they would be cohesive with one another on this subject, but information on either cruise line would be helpful to us at this time really.  
Do you have a source of knowledge/procedures on this subject by chance?  You always give important detailed information that really help us for so many circumstances regarding cruises.  So I sincerely would value any information, ideas, or any opinions you have on this subject.  Thanks again for all the knowledge you provide for us on this blog.!

I totally agree with you Sweety!  The Milford Sounds pics and the return to Sydney pics were my personal favs!

You are truly a class act, @twangster. You are so appreciated, and not just for the amazing photos.

No more updates for now so hopefully things have stabilized.  At this point they are refunding 2 days of cruise fare, 2 days of prepaid packages and reimbursing hotel and food up to $200.  They’ve cancelled Nassau (yippee) and cut out 1 sea day.  IF things go smoothly tomorrow I think all will be well.  I have a 4:00 checkout at the hotel so if they begin boarding at 5:00 that should work out.

If you saw @Matt's post today, you know that Royal is having a WOW sale on the Cruise Planner. Well, after reading this I checked the Cruise Planner on Celebrity and saw they, too, are having a sale right now! Discounts that I saw included:
Many shore excursions (including on-ship activities like the All-Access Ship Tour) First-night dinner at Tuscan Grille (but no other dining packages or individual reservations, including Chef's Table) All internet packages (discount gets bigger with device count -- 10% off 1-device, 20% off 2-device, 30% off 3-device, and 40% off a 4-device plan) Photo books and digital photo packages Take a look if you're booked and see if you can get some savings! I'm pretty disappointed that there was no discount offered on the beverage packages (even the non-alcoholic ones), but I'll just re-check around Memorial Day and 4th of July weekend when it's that much closer to sail date.

Thank you so much for clearing that up for us!  It sounds like a great idea for us since I especially like to play the slots.  It will be a nice added perk to enjoy playing in a smoke free casino, too!  Your blog has been so helpful in navigating this great newly renovated ship!  We are looking forward to doing our first 10 day cruise ever on Equinox going back to the ABC's for 3rd year in a row and Key West and Grand Cayman in September.  It was an itinerary that was definitely calling our names!  Ha!
