Before the nonsense of Hurricane Dorian, my biggest mistake was booking my arrival to the port city the day of embarkation.  Even though I didn't go on the sailing, I was feeling the stress of having the flight the same day.  Will not be making that mistake this summer and will see a little what Miami has to offer.

Sorry for your troubles, vacations that don't work out are a drag, so I feel for you there for sure. RCC has their policies that affect everyone on the cruise when unexpected events happen to the current passengers and the next ones that are coming on board. Looks like  an issue with your follow-up and RCC's failure to do what they said they would do for you. If someone else out there was left whole after this ordeal, then you should be too. Keep at it to see if there is resolution for you, but don't expect to be an exception as they are dealing with up to 5000 guests, but defiantly get what is coming to you that is similar to what other folks on your booked cruise received. By all means find a cruise line that fits your needs so if this happens again you will feel you are being treated fairly. Good vibes for the next cruise for you...take care!

Sorry you had so much trouble.  I had to unfortunately cancel a cruise do to health reasons.  RCCL was great to work with.  I received my refund when promised and my cruise credit within the 5-7 business days as discussed.  Was able to rebook a later cruise with out any problems.  RCCL customer service was top notch for me.

Sorry for your frustrations.  I am new to Royal and hope they make this right for you and correct their mistake.  Whether you used a TA or not it seems Royal did not come through as they told you they would.
Hope you get this corrected and have a wonderful cruise to win you back.
Thanks for sharing your experience as we can all learn from each other.

I thought going through RC would turn out to be a great decision, however I've been met with nothing but incompetence and frustration.
My sailing was unfortunately during the time Hurricane Dorian was around.  My 4 night sailing was trimmed to 2, a decision I have issues with, but ultimately I was able to cancel and got some of my money back because of the weather.  **It took me THREE tries to get the trip completely cancelled because the people on the phone didn't do their jobs** They told me that I would receive a travel voucher for the remaining amount and it would be generated in 7-10 days. Fine, no problem.  That was at the end of AUGUST
Today NOVEMBER 16th when I booked my trip and tried using the money that should have been there...well you guessed it, NO VOUCHER WAS CREATED!!  The people on the line said it would be done in about 7-10 days...*sigh*...after this I'm done with Royal.
During this entire process no two people had the same information.  Things that were said to be completed were not at several turns.  A complete failure at customer service, I'll take my business elsewhere once I spend this voucher money.

    That stinks ?
In the future when you book solo you may want to consider booking a fake 2nd passenger if you're booking a cruise that has the 200% solo supplement.  That will allow you to add someone up to a few days before the sailing.  And if you end up going solo you will get refunded the port fees and taxes for the "no show".  Or make sure that you always book refundable if possible.  It may cost more, but sometimes it is less than the $100 you lose when you have to cancel a NRD.

*For cancelling Navigator's shortened sailing* No thanks...I'm not paying full price airfare for a laughable attempt at a vacation.
I'm a very calm and understanding person when it comes to call centers/customer service.  They shouldn't be punching bags...but this has to be shared.
Was on the phone for two hours yesterday to cancel my sailing and flight.  The first person in reservations didn't listen to what I was trying to do, she eventually transferred me to someone to Air2Sea once I thought I was done cancelling my sailing.  The A2S rep said that I couldn't get a refund and it would have to be credit (fine no problem) but I would have to contact the airline to use that credit (turns out that ALL of that was wrong).  I then made sure to get transferred back to reservations to make sure my trip was cancelled.  The first rep DIDN'T cancel it.  So I had the second rep do that...so I thought...
Airline couldn't help me because they couldn't see the total they would be crediting me for and I would have to call A2S back. So another call to them revealed that I COULD get a full refund for the flight..great lets do that, I'm done being passed around..."but you need to cancel your trip"

I don't know what a PNR is but one thing that helped me during this recent mess of travel is just being persistent with calling or being transferred to someone who may be able to help you.  It became very clear to me that not everyone is on the same page nor has the same information.  I spoke with at least 5 different RC reps the last few days and not one of them had the same information as the other.

I know this wasn't for me but I figured I'd share.
Spent 2 hours and 18 minutes on the phone.  Maybe 8 of them speaking with a real person...the rest was repetitive ads.  (Did you know Jamie Oliver has restaurants with RC?  I will have nightmares about this)
Since I know that it is chaos down there I tried to be nice and joking with the people I spoke with.  The first RC person I spoke with wasn't helpful and didn't listen to me but she at least got things started.  Receiving 100% credit for the sailing to use at a later date and am getting money back for the drink package and excursion bought with my credit card.  There was still a sizable shortfall with my Air2Sea booking.  She said that was non refundable.  "Not acceptable, transfer me to someone who can help me".
Representative from Air2Sea was helpful and was able to get me a credit through the airline.  So now I will be calling them up to see what my options are, but at least I'm not being forced to make the choice of flying into a hurricane damaged area with no place to stay for a few days, or lose my money.  Once done with him I was transferred back to RC's line so I could confirm that my booking was in fact cancelled.  Come to find out the first person didn't even finish cancelling my booking and I fear I would have been on the hook if I didn't not ask for the confirmation.
Should be receiving the voucher around September 20th.
    Good luck everyone!
