I've said it before, and I will say it again, the benefits of a suite all depend on what type of cruiser you are.  There are many different types.  Just because one person cruises and doesn't spend much time in their cabins, doesn't mean that all people cruise that way.
For myself, I've done everything from inside to Star.  I'm a suite snob, not ever ashamed to admit it.  The benefits are way greater on Oasis/Quantum class as @AshleyDillo described but I book suites on non-Oasis/Quantum class to purely because I like the space.

For most of life raising kids we had at a young age we rarely took vacations, 1) we could not afford them and 2) the time we could take them was taken by "kids" travels and obligations. Once the kids were grown and out of the house, we had friends who insisted we go with their family of grownups on a cruise telling us they do this every year and we would not regret it. The trip along the Eastern Caribbean was unbelievable and we did not realize it but the "hook" was set. Later that year I had a heart scare that really puts life into perspective. Nothing major but really shakes your foundation. The wife and I sat down and decided that of all the travels with the kids and places we had seen, the cruise was at the top of the list in all of the items mentioned above. Since then we have been on at least 3 per year and have taken our kids families, grandkids separately (much better) and now they are looking at when they can return to the ship. It is the feeling of total relaxation when you step across the gangway and know that you will be pampered, entertained and taken care of, and best of all I can shut off and out the daily grind for a week of total rest.

The only responsibility I have for 7 days is to make it back to the room under my own power, make it back to the ship on time and not be a ?head to anyone.
I can eat and drink to my hearts content, I can choose to do it all or do nothing at all.  It just doesn't get any better than that.
I will also add that I am not a very social person on land but I find meeting new people and hanging out quite enjoyable on the ship.

One more thing that I thought of: I feel very safe on a cruise ship. Years ago when I was a cute blonde 20-something-year-old, I would go to land-based resorts and be "propositioned" (if you know what I mean) by the local resort staff. Made me feel very uncomfortable and I wouldn't go anywhere on the resort property by myself.
Contrarily, the staff on RCL ships have always been extraordinarily courteous and polite and not leering in any regard. Now that my nieces have grown up to be beautiful young teenagers, I am thoroughly comfortable with them walking to/from the cabin by themselves without worrying about them being approached in an inappropriate way.

We were booked in a 2 BR Grand Suite on Explorer foe September 2020 on 9 night Greek Isles Cruise. On the 1st day they announced lift and shift in May, we shifted to 9 night Greek Isles on Odyssey in 2BR Grand Suite in October 2021. The 2BR Grand Suite would have cost an additional $6000 more if we had not L&S and got the same price we would have paid for our cruise this year. There are definitely some benefits it it works for you.

It's definitely possible to L&S and go from non-OA class to OA class and get the additional suite benefits.  I've heard of quite a few like this already.  The best one was still the one where someone went from the RL on Indy to the RLS on Oasis.  Extra benefits and a way better room!  I think at first they were really strict with what they were Lift and Shifting but it seems that the more time that goes by, the more lenient they have become.
    Good luck with yours.

I think the CDC's call for public comment is almost entirely political. I believe there is friction between CDC officials and Cruise line execs with the execs rightfully accusing the CDC of being unrealistic in their demands for what amount to a zero risk of having a passenger or crew member embarked on a cruise ship contract C-19. Instead of managing risks - which the cruise lines can do and have done in the past - the CDC is demanding perfect control of it and unprecedented levels of cross-coordination with foreign ports that a more friendly CDC could facilitate. Manage, not control would be by-words that the CDC could adopt.
Instead, the CDC takes their "crazy" set of questions (and I believe it's a check list of CDC demands) so the public will agree with them that cruising is dangerous to the public health unless the cruise lines obtain this unobtainable zero risk.  There is the capacity of the Executive to order the Department of Homeland Security - the agency that actually issued the no-sail-order on the advice of the CDC - to revoke it. That isn't likely to happen for purely political reasons. The public, not knowing what we know about how safe crising actually is, would howell.

So most of you know we are booked on a 7 day western Caribbean on Rhapsody in an OS in March, 2021.  I am trying to understand L & S as it applies to that sailing.  If I L & S, I can book ANY 7 day sailing in 2022 within 4 weeks of my original sailing (so 2/20/22 through 4/20/22) as long as length and stateroom class remain the same?  Does this mean I could change to a 7 day WC out of PC on Harmony in an OS for the same price I am currently paying for the Rhapsody cruise?  Doesn’t sound right.  Can you all enlighten me ?‍♀️

If you’re just looking for a better steak than is available in the MDR you can order the Chops Filet from the MDR menu for $16.
But agree the atmosphere in Chops or Giovannis is a nice step up.  We had dinner in the Solarium  Bistro a few years back in Oasis when it was an up charge.  It’s free now and was really a nice date night atmosphere.

Chops on Liberty last year was my favorite.  Ordered the porterhouse twice and it was the best steak I have ever had.  I wonder how much difference there is from ship to ship.
