I can attest that the interior room on Grandeur are T.I.N.Y.  …but I think $900 for a JS on a 5-nighter is a lot !  Me ?  I’d probably take the inside….especially if you’re solo.

AlohaLivin reacted to MattG in How to Access Digital Cruise Compass
On our cruise on Anthem last December, it took until Day 3 to get regular Cruise Compasses (I was able to get our attendant to gather a Day 1 and Day 2 copy for me to complete the set).
On our current cruise on Oasis, no amount of cajoling or reminding our attendant has produced consistent Cruise Compasses. We ask every day, and we've only been given Day 3 and Day 5 in our stateroom. I've seen them around in other guests hands so I know they exist. I've resorted to nicking them off the attendant's cart (sorry bro) or picking up folded-up leftovers. I could go to Guest Services but that would be a hike, plus however long standing in line. It's certainly made me use the app more, but for people like my wife, she'll just go without it and not really check the app, possibly missing out on something she'd might want to do.

you will love it! we've stayed in a CP balcony and it was peaceful -- our sweet spot was either deck 12 -- deck 14 had us too close to the pool deck and noise tended to trickle down. deck 9 had us too low to the passerby walking around (as CP itself is deck 8). the music at night was nice to listen to and the midship location was also very convenient.
i think you will be very pleased with your choice!!
having an open air balcony, into the tranquil space of central park, certainly beats an interior cabin for us!

You have to decide to go into the local selling area...It's not in an area that you will encounter during your normal day at Labadee...Unless you want to.

Exactly....and it's important to note that the vendors from this area are not permitted to leave that area, so they cannot encroach on any of the leisure areas of the port.  It is 100% possible to avoid the vendors if this is something that concerns you.  I have gotten some pretty cool stuff there, over the years...just sayin'.

Much easier to market a private island than a private peninsula

Labadee is awesome, one of our favorite ports. The beaches and water are spectacular, nothing better that a cold Labadoozie with the Boozie!

You won’t be going to a part of Haiti where you will have any interaction with the general public. Lebadee is a completely secure part of the country that is not near any city. The site is completely fenced in. Even if you wanted to, the option to get off the ship and explore Haiti doesn’t exist. You will be more safe at Lebadee than ANY other port (except maybe CocoCay!) or US city.
The post above is referring to a part of Lebadee where locals can sell their crafts and other goods to tourists. It’s NOT an open market where just anyone in Haiti can walk around and set up shop. Yes, the vendors can be pushy by American standards, but to call them scary is bit overboard.

Generally speaking, you're not going to Haiti. You're going to the isolated, protected, walled off snippet of land called Labadee, which merely happens to geographically be in Haiti.

Haiti is a wonderful place with incredible people. It's also incredibly poor and undeveloped. It's not for the faint of heart, but I've never had an issue during my visits there.
That being said...as my predecessors on this thread have said, you are only "kinda sorta" in Haiti. For all intents and purposes, you are anywhere put Haiti and you will never see the real Haiti, for good and for bad. It's a beautiful place, enjoy.

It seems to me that comments about people being somehow uneducated or undereducated because they are not familiar with two dollar bills are overly critical. Their lack of knowledge regarding these bills has nothing to do with education and everything to do with whether they’ve come across something that is extremely rare.  The bottom line is that a $2 bill is rare and thus a lot of people are not familiar with them… therefore a lot of people are not going to want them… thus it’s more of a hindrance to the people receiving one and probably should be avoided.

The short story is that all of these ships are fine, I can’t imagine being disappointed in any of them. Choose the date and the itinerary that you prefer and go with that.

They are definitely some people like that. The first cruise that we ever took on Royal after we had been cruising Norwegian we met a couple in the coastal kitchen day 1 of the cruise. We saw them a number of times after that and over that week the wife must have said “Diamond Plus” 10 million times (and we definitely knew every possible benefit that came with being a diamond plus before the week was done because she mentioned them all a few times). 🤣

It truly is amazing how much these prices having been jumping around recently. Sale, no sale, or during the same sale 🫤 We have a Casino comp 5 day in a balcony cabin that we added on to our existing 9 day in a suite during December recently and so I have been checking the key prices for the shorter add on. The price  has jumped around from 29.00 to 26.99 to 2299 and back in 2 weeks time. I have also noticed random jumping around on a lot of the excursion prices for the second leg (more so than normal). If you’re like me and like to hang on to your money, it definitely pays to check pricing on excursions and the extras pretty often ✌🏼

I know many food trucks who will only accept cards.  They don't have a lot of room and it's a safety issue. No cash = unlikely to get robbed.  Can't say I blame them.
