The rules being suggested for cruising have not been applied.  There has been no cruises or even test cruises.  I think all these restrictions will change more than once  before cruises actually begin.

The Original poster clearly states that these measures and restrications are in place on Qots.

I understand this is not a cruise out of US but i would imagine that any measures found to work on these "test cruises out of Asia or anywhere else " will be implemented across the fleet.

  2. When at home and its raining we sometimes dont go outside!

When on vacation and its raining we just get on with it! We are not going to let a little bit of rain stop us from making the most of our vacation.

So same applies here! Either be at home with restrictions in place or be somewhere new with restrictions...for me its a no brainer simply because getting away anywhere eases the mindset of lockdown

Fortunately it looks like the US accepts the the rapid antigen tests, so hopefully it would be a bit easier to get quick test results and not have to plan on staying an extra two days in the disembarkation port while you wait for test results to be able to get on the plane.

Obviously you would need to have a back up plan just in case test was positive and you need to stay an extra week or so in isolation.

I'm going to preface this by saying this is a very naive comment and I definitely know the answer is $$$$. But I can't help by think that considering this is a world wide pandemic and people are dying everywhere...shouldn't Pfizer etc give labs around the world the formula and pump it out like crazy. If it was a cure for something small I can understand wanting to make it a monopoly. But considering it could get the world back on track to normalcy im sad it doesn't work like that...

To date they are the only company selling vaccine at a substantial profit at about $30 a shot compared to the Oxford Vaccine which is about $3 a shot, however 70+ third world countries will get the Oxford Vaccine at cost price, less than the $3

  5. Common sense really, if you are happy to cruise with measures and restrictions in place then book a cruise for 2021, if you dont want so many restrictions in place then dont book it for 2021 leave it for 2022 and hope things are back to some sort of normality by then ?

One thing he missed out though, if you book a cruise for 2021 and dont enjoy it due to all the restrictions dont bloody moan about it lol

Mock sailings from U.S. port needs to be made in order to get the Certificate from the C.D.C. The C.D.C. only has jurisdiction in the U.S.A. and not international. If you read the entire C.D.C. Framework, it will explain everything and you will understand.

    Kl however

Having dealt in H&S for a number of years, being Nebosh Certified, having written Risk Assessments and safety procedures in line with various government regulations, carried out safety Audits and incident investigations i can honestly say the part you posted didnt say what you said it did.

But hey what do i know ?

a cruise ship operator must document the approval of all U.S. port and local health authorities where the ship intends to dock or make port during a simulated voyage or a restricted passenger voyage.

This section does not say mock sailings can only be from US, what it does say is

If you want to sail be it a mock or restricted sailing from any US port then you have to get approval from the ports the ships plan to sail from or visit prior to sailing.

    That's not a mock sailing from a U.S. port.

Ooops sorry didnt realise you meant from US port as you never said in post. And im pretty sure a sailing from anywhere in the world right now is a mock sailing and im certain those back in RC head office in Miami will be ensuring that the minimum recommendations laid down by CDC are in place on every ship no matter where it sails from.

Also pretty sure RC will be relaying the results of the "not a mock sailing as its from singapore not US" to the relevant bodies in the US..

We will see...new strain shutting down airplane/travelers  all over the world to travelers from the UK...

The new strain of virus has the UK government is bricking it......

The rate it can spread is a lot quicker the OG strain, new strain also found in Italy, also no guarantee vaccine will work on new strain

This is why we are going back into a lockdown on 26th if new strain takes hold our health service wont be able to cope!

, if we didn't, do you think that would mean the world would continue the way it has for the last 9 months for years?

    NO!!!

Economically the world cannot afford to continue as it has for the past 9 months, look at all of the businesses closing down, people being made redundant etc

If things were to continue as is then every day/week or month more people would be impacted be it financially, mentally or health.

Right now the UK Government is bailing everyone out the best they can with furlough payments, grants or loans but at what cost?

Tax increase for those still employed in April?

Of course we have the 5 day free for all over xmas to look forward to before we have to suffer another lockdown causing even more misery!

I don't think so. After the 1918 pandemic, things were the way they were before very quickly.

I can see the high flying executive back in 1918 sitting in an airport lounge hooked up to the free wifi reading about the daily death toll or conspiracy theories while they wait to jet across the world

And i am 100% certain that be it 5, 10 or 50 years the next virus's to come out of Asia will be treated the same as all the ones previous to 2020 IE Airlines wont bother with masks, people wont think " please god not another 2020"

Because the world be it how companies operate or how people think wont change ?
