I am just trying to plan a cruise and have been looking at a few ports and what is available at each to do, so it is interesting hearing the what and why behind certain spots for people who are more travelled than I.

Curacao is pretty and a chance to use Spanish. Costa Maya has the ruins I love.

Yes, Aruba is my favorite, though Curacao is #2 after I found a good brewery there.

That said I'm not overly partial to any port.

Which brewery and where is it?  I'll be in Aruba and Curacao for the first time in a few weeks.

Back to the original question, I'm partial to Costa Maya just because of Maya Chan.  Excluding Maya Chan, I probably enjoy Grand Cayman the most overall.  Hopefully my answer will change to Aruba and/or Curacao as well here in a few weeks...

If you want the complete opposite, Ensenada is the perfect example of a day to stay on the ship.  I know it's not the Caribbean but I think the Mexican Riviera is similar enough to what you're actually looking for, North American warm weather ports.

St Thomas as we have friends there that have a sandwich shop.

Everyone should stop there and get something at least once in their cruise career.

I suggest the bacon wrapped plantains.

We booked it through the cruise line. We are a family traveling together by like parents and mid to late 20s kids. It was a small group excursion a mini bus full of people. It took us to Shipwreck Rum and they took us on a tour of the sugar plantation it was on then we went to a renovated barn and had an amazing rum tasting (5 or 6 shots of rum). Then I went and bought some. I need more of this rum and cannot get it in Canada where I live
