WAYNO Posted September 16 Report Posted September 16 Phew! I am onboard! Other than pushy crowds, everything has progressed well. We are in Windjammer trying to summons up enough ambition to push my way to the food bars.⁰ Sweety, SweetPea, Dan Curtis and 5 others 7 1 Quote
Mrs. Regular Posted September 16 Report Posted September 16 Have a fantastic cruise! Alaska is like no other. WAYNO 1 Quote

WAYNO Posted September 16 Author Report Posted September 16 Just some random photos. Our pier is truly a fish dock. Large fishing vessels are constantly coming and going. The different ferries are also constantly coming and going. SweetPea, MaryS and Cactus527 3 Quote
WAYNO Posted September 16 Author Report Posted September 16 This Jr Suite is different than others, and not in a good way. The combination of small closets works out to less than half the closet space of other Junior Suites. It causes us to scatter a little here and a little there. There are no drawers or cubbies at the desk, and the desk chair cannot be used if someone needs in the closet. There are also no cubbies or shelves in the bathroom. And our balcony, although huge, offers a forward view only. I still am in paradise, but next time I will pay more attention to the room layout. MaryS, SweetPea, Ampurp85 and 2 others 4 1 Quote

Ampurp85 Posted September 16 Report Posted September 16 What side of the ship are you on? Since I royal'ed up I am now midship instead of aft and I am sitting on my balcony watching cranes do stuff on the Artic Fjord. Cactus527 and DDaley 2 Quote

Cactus527 Posted September 17 Report Posted September 17 Yay, you're on board! And I'm glad you'll get a chance to meet @Ampurp85 and her Bottomless Brother (because he eats so much). Have you done Quantum class before? Are you enjoying the ship overall? What port are you looking forward to the most? WAYNO 1 Quote
ScottD Posted September 17 Report Posted September 17 Was that the show where the woman goes up in the air and sings from up there? I remember watching that mighty cruise ships show when the ship first sailed, and the lady got stuck up there and they had to shut the show down. Glad you are on, and besides the room being a little oddly shaped, everything is going well. I love the dual blogs from different people, it's interesting to see the different takes and experiences during the same cruise. Ampurp85, WAYNO, Cactus527 and 4 others 5 1 1 Quote
WAYNO Posted September 17 Author Report Posted September 17 Day 2... In spite of setting the clocks back, I slept til 9:30 . Must've needed some extra beauty. Finally found the Crown Lounge. I wanted black coffee but they don't have any. So coffee abd espresso with cream it is. And a nice little cup of fruit. I really had to fight my way thru the abbreviated promenade. Sale on t-shirts, and folks are lined up at every table. MaryS, Cactus527, SweetPea and 4 others 4 3 Quote
OCSC Mike Posted September 17 Report Posted September 17 Love the double coffee machines; first time I've seen that besides Wonder. Fancy toaster too... wish they all had those so I could get a freshly toasted bagel to go with my morning cappuccinos without going to Park Cafe for the bagel. This show had a gorgeous lady elevated with a gown as large and flowing as a parachute. The art, the talent, and especially the technology of the show was out of this world. But nearly an hour was really long. ScottD, Sweety, SweetPea and 1 other 4 Quote
Ampurp85 Posted September 17 Report Posted September 17 I looked for you in the casino, it was not a good night. I waited 40min at the bar for a machine and then gave up and went back to my room for some much-needed rest. I did just play for a bit on Dancing drums. Then peeked into 270 at the top-tier event. Got an urgent email from work, so popped back in the room to answer that. Will see Stillwater tomorrow, Cactus527, WAYNO and SweetPea 3 Quote
WAYNO Posted September 17 Author Report Posted September 17 Figured out the coffee process in the D-Lounge. A shot or three of espresso topped with hot water. Ampurp85, Cactus527, OCSC Mike and 1 other 3 1 Quote
WAYNO Posted September 17 Author Report Posted September 17 Barley with tomato, rice with a dash of gravy, bbq corn and a pork chop is making for a great lunch. So simple, but so tasty. Oh... and coffee. I remember now, these folks do not understand black coffee. It seems to always come with cream no matter how black I ask for it. Cactus527, OCSC Mike, SweetPea and 1 other 4 Quote

WAYNO Posted September 18 Author Report Posted September 18 Ate dinner in the MDR tonight. I don't want to be a complainer, so I won't. The dining room on this ship is not grand like so many other MDR's. It's more like a cafeteria. Our server gals are delightful. We are at a shared table for ten. Last night there were 6 diners. Tonight we were the only diners at our table. Many tables are empty. WAAAYTOOO, Ampurp85, MaryS and 1 other 4 Quote

WAYNO Posted September 18 Author Report Posted September 18 Day 2 ... we saw Sequins and Feathers in the Royal Theatre. It was 40 minutes of modern dance, with continuous changes of costumes. The AV support, the music, and the talent involved is incredible. But everyone has different tastes. 40 minutes was a long dance act. MaryS, SweetPea, Cactus527 and 1 other 4 Quote
WAYNO Posted September 18 Author Report Posted September 18 Day 3 ... I don't stray far from my habits... the fruit in the D Lounge is really good. And this place is empty. Cactus527, MaryS, WAAAYTOOO and 2 others 4 1 Quote

WAYNO Posted September 18 Author Report Posted September 18 To the Windjammer for a little protein. The place was packed. I had to ask another group if I could join them. And we're now tied up at the dock. We have no view other than forward from our balcony, so I can only get a minimal snapshot of the cruise ship Eurodam which is tied up next to us. It is quite rusty. I strolled the pool deck. The pools are quite unused. I am cold tolerant, but it is quite chilly outside. I hate coats, but I will wear one today. Cactus527, WAAAYTOOO, Ampurp85 and 1 other 4 Quote
WAYNO Posted September 18 Author Report Posted September 18 Today was Sitka. We were unable to get an excursion, so we did the walk around. Surprising to me, Sitka has a relatively large shopping district. MaryS, Ampurp85, WAAAYTOOO and 2 others 5 Quote

WAYNO Posted September 19 Author Report Posted September 19 We have been moved from deck 4 to deck 3 in main dining. Seems to me from my new view, the 3rd floor is somewhat more elegant. The only Asian fare I had was the Tom Yum soup. I also ordered the shrimp cocktail, so I asked for only a half serving of the soup. It was quite good. OCSC Mike, Ampurp85 and Cactus527 3 Quote
WAYNO Posted September 19 Author Report Posted September 19 The Solarium ... other than passing through, one time, on a different ship, I've spent no time.
