Yukon Summit tour... bus windows were steamed so I have just a few photos.

I am tired and glad to be back on the boat.

The view from the Windjammer is pretty nice.

Something I have not mentioned...

Although slow, the wifi on this ship has worked very well.  Even a month ago when my wife was on this ship with a friend, the wifi was so dysfunctional, she was unable to communicate with me at home.

Went to the cabin for a quick nap.  When I woke, we were untied and steaming, with a beautiful view.

Beatles Maniacs .. 

We saw this show tonight,  and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen on a ship.

The sixties is near and dear to ne, and this band covered the Beatles and the era, wonderfully.  I am easily melancholy  and this show really got me.

Ah, if you're up for a change of pace sometime, many of Norwegian's newer ships have a Beatles tribute band. It's always crazy crowded and on point.

I think my last time on Oasis they had some sort of Beatles tribute, but they kept listing it as "British Invasion-the best of the Beatles and more"

Juneau, Day 5 ...

We're still moving, but this is what my balcony is revealing at 6:30 am. We have some pretty extreme tides happening right now.

I do enjoy an empty CL in the morning although I'm usually just grabbing my coffee and pastries to go.

Truth is, that was my appetizer before my Windjammer breakfast.  The D Lounge has terrific coffee.

Juneau.  50-ish.  Rainy-ish.  Folks were bundled like Eskimo's.  I wore a vest and short sleeves.

The Dog House ...

I try it each time.  All I ordered was a Bavarian Dog with no bun, and potato salad.  This dog is so anemic, and kind of gross, so I think it's not what I asked for.  And the potato salad was so frozen, I don't know if it was good or not.  I'll try again on our next cruise.

That Pic of the whale coming out of the water .... I'm assuming that's real, and if so, what amazing timing you had to get that shot!

 

As i type this, I'm afraid to look stupid if that's some sort of statue or something ..

i thought the same at first and i am 99.9999999% positive it is a statue of some kind.

That's a full scale sculpture.  It is so realistic, I thought just maybe someone would think it was the real deal.

We saw Michael Holly tonight.  A juggling comedian, he is extremely entertaining.

Our cabin person has been very good.  And now at the end of day 5, he has left us 6 towel animals.

We ate at Chops tonight.  This is our first experience there, and it was truly fantastic.  I ordered the 16 Oz ribeye, and I could not finish it, however much I wanted to.

I needed to charge my phone, so no pictures of this wonderful experience.  My wife took pictures which are far better than mine, but although she forwards these photos to me, and they are successfully transferred to my photo album, I am unable to post her photos to this website.

The potato salad at the Dog House is one of my favorite foods on an Oasis class ship. I'm so sad that yours was frozen! I was stockpiling them last summer on Allure because they were so good. Here's hoping you can try it again and it's NOT frozen this time.

Day 6 . Sea day.  The boat is really rocking. And today the D Lounge is popular.

Today, a sea day, has been relaxing.  I have taken multiple naps which are therapeutic.

It is quite stormy out.

We ate at our new table agaìn on deck 3 of the MDR. 

Steak and lobster of course.

I love lobster, and it was good.  Our upgraded steak came from Chops Grill. A filet mignon and it was extremely good.  I am not a fancy desert person, but the baked Alaska was wonderful!

The window views from the D Lounge are nice, and especially so with their great coffee. We are still steaming alongside Vancouver Island toward Victoria.  It is nasty outside, but my Wife's weather report says it will be 60 degrees and mostly dry in port.  We have a geezer bus tour booked.

And while I am thinking of it, folks ask about soaps abd shampoos in the cabins.

Today is a real whale show from the Windjammer.  Try as I might, whales are difficult to photograph.

Luck of the draw, I am a bit under the weather, so I elected to remain in our cabin while in Victoria.  The best I can do is share the view from our balcony.

Another change up tonight.  I elected to also remain in our cabin at dinnertime.  Imagine my very pleasant surprise when one of our little girls from our first table brought me a complete steak dinner.  These servers have all been so good to us.  

I wish folks such as these could live close to us so I could see them and their children do well.

I am home safe and sound.  Our drive from Seattle to Oregon was uneventful, and the traffic was very cooperative.   We were home in 3-1/2 hours.  And that was with food and bathroom stops.

I say the trip home was uneventful, but the cruise was not.  At least not totally.  Saturday night in the casino I started getting a cough.  I thought it was the heavy cigarette smoke.  I excused myself to the cabin for the rest of the cruise.  Long story short... I am now tested positive for covid.  And my wife so far is just fine. 

I also had a surgery scheduled for Wednesday, which is now cancelled. 

Oh boy, this cruise life sure has its own set of side effects.

Sorry to hear that. One of the vintages said she had a cough, it was the bears, but she tested negative for covid but believes she has the flu.

Thanks for the blog, @WAYNO, now just get to feeling better! The two times I've had Covid, vitamin B12 was my BEST friend. Rest, drink water, B12, and get well soon.
