PENICILLIN
Classic Cocktails
The Bamboo Room

NOTE:
I did not want to get a $70 bottle of Laphroaig because I only needed a quarter of an ounce of it for this entire Bamboo Room series. So I ordered a shot of it at a local bar and took it home in a to-go portion cup. It cost me $13 for the shot, not including the tip. When I did the math in my head on the drive home, I realized it wasn't the best idea.

I loved the Penicillin when I made it and got hooked on the smoky flavor of Laphroaig. So I think I'm getting a $70 bottle of it after all. Any discount coupons out there?

NAVY GROG
Classic Cocktails
The Bamboo Room

NOTE:
This cocktail was born out of a desire of British sailors to make their ration of bad rum taste better. Royal's mixologists have combined some variations of this classic cocktail by adding grapefruit juice and allspice dram to the original recipe.

I just found out that the word "groggy" comes from "grog."

The recipes for all the cocktails on Royal Caribbean's menus released in 2023 have now been uploaded.

Eleven of the new cocktails on Icon are also included.  I'll try my best to get the rest.  If you get recipes please feel free to share them here.  No copycat recipes please.

I will start another topic/thread for copycat recipes.

  • 2 weeks later...

Starting this week I'll be posting official recipes for the cocktails on the new menus at the English Pub that rolled out this month (July 2024).  I've seen this menu on the Icon maiden voyage but it's now being offered fleet wide, except for a few items.

It's interesting, folks finding a drink they like, then expecting to see the recipe in print so they can copy it at home.

Sounds reasonable, but two seemingly identical drinks could be quite different, depending on the bartender.  A pinch more of this, and a little less of that, can alter any drink to the point of making it a different drink.  A recipe only suggests the basic ingredients, not how they are individualized by a bartender or by different ships.

The bartenders are not supposed to be individualizing the drinks unless the guests want to tweak them.  The recipes I'm posting on this topic are what the bartenders should be following. They come from a list which a bartender friend of mine calls their "Bible"

I do agree that every drink served is different but it should come very close to the company's standard recipe - quantities, procedure, glassware, and garnish.
