For those keeping score at home, I booked one those $1,777 solo interior deals.  Here is how this journey proceeded:

I booked on June 18, eleven days prior to sail date.

During the evening of June 18 I was able to begin making cruise planner purchases and to check in.  I was able to secure most entertainment reservations except Effectors conflicted with the Aqua Show available times and the Wizard of Oz was sold out.  I grabbed the Aqua Show.

I tried RoyalUp but it responded with an error message about needing to be within 30 days.

The morning of June 19 I checked entertainment again.  New times for the Aqua Show and Effectors no longer conflicted.  Wizard of Oz was available.  With that I managed to get reservations for all shows despite being just 10 days from sailing.

June 19 saw an email to participate in RoyalUp.  A three night dining plan opened up but I didn't bite.  It was gone later in the day.

There were five solo deals @ $1,777 when I booked on the 18th.  On the 19th there were none.   The cheapest cabin was now a suite >$20k.

June 20 I was assigned a Q2 Interior Plus cabin.

Another solo interior became available on the 20th but it was $199 more.  This disappeared later in the day.

June 21 a cruise planner sale appeared and I was able to book the UDP for $63 less than the rate from the prior day.

Another solo interior GTY became available on the 21st but it was $399 more than the $1,777 rate I booked.

I received a RoyalUp "Your bid was cancelled" email on the 21st due to being assigned a cabin but I was offered the chance to bid again.  I'm sticking with my Q2.  I'll leverage the rest of the funds I was allocating to the concept of a RU in a slot machine to finish my Prime renewal for next year.  I'm just a few hundred points shy at the moment.

I'm kind of impressed.  Despite being a last minute whimsical booking I have managed to secure everything I would have wanted had I booked a year ago.  I'm hoping this lucky streak extends into the casino.

Now I'm off to a store as I recently learned that casino odds improve when one wears the lucky color of underwear for that day.  I've got seven days so I need seven colors.  However a wise man once told me always bet on black so I'm a bit conflicted at the moment.

Amateur 😆

I deliberately split mine up between 2 sailings to hit the minimum 1200 for an instant certificate to get a couple more cruises out of it.

Glad to know we will see you onboard!

I was totally wearing the wrong color of underwear on my last two cruises resulting in very poor luck.  The ratio of money in versus points earned was not in my favor.  At the rate I was going a 1,200 certificate would have cost me $6,000 so I quit while I wasn't ahead.

I'm hoping Icon treats me better.

I did well on Icon...of course I wasn't chasing points during the sailing so I took my winnings and ran.

Having an escalator there to take you down to the casino bar over stairs is already a win in my book 😉
