Jmccaffrey
With most Ships near the Bahamas and high chance of a Tropical storm, I wonder where RC is going to move all of their Ship.
twangster
They'll slide them out of the way then move them back after it passes. It's pretty mild right now, not even a tropical depression. Water temps are still low compared to the summer so it's not likely to develop rapidly into an actual hurricane. Truth be told if it doesn't progress into a depression or storm as it moves through the Bahamas they could ride it out. Small crafts wouldn't want to try that. It's also pretty small at time of writing so it wouldn't take much to sail away from it then return. Baked Alaska and Pima1988
ScooterScott22
Jim Van Fleet will come to the rescue and keep these guys safe. As @Twangster mentioned it shouldn’t be too bad for the ships unless it suddenly intensifies. A few years ago we were out on a cruise and sailed through the system that became Hurricane Matthew. Didn’t impact the ship much except for a few outdoor events. About a week later back at home we were preparing since it did develop.

LOL, that's usually the protocol, we were on the Anthem in Feb 2016 when it sailed into the storm with hurricane force winds, thank goodness for Captain Claus, if it wasn't for him it could have ended very badly! But at the end of the day, even a bad cruise is better than a good day at work Baked Alaska and WAAAYTOOO

Yes, Royal's embarrassing blunder of watching the Super Bowl instead of weather guidance nearly cost them a brand new Anthem of the Seas. They changed weather forecasting companies and hired James Van Fleet to offer a public face to weather issues. James Van Fleet's honesty and right down to the facts style is comforting to every cruiser no matter the weather circumstances. I vote he takes over as Chairman and CEO when Richard Fain steps down.` Baked Alaska, Lovetocruise2002 and Jmccaffrey
rjac
It's also the reason why you can't open any of the windows in the solarium nor the retractable roof.

twangster
To give you an idea what shipping interests do to avoid storms look at the tanker and cargo ships that are still sailing. Overlaying graphics from the NHC with MarineTraffic.com you can see a void of ships in the general area around the storm. rjac, SpeedNoodles, teddy and 3 others 2
