VinceC
What is the earliest time I could expect to make a flight at Fl. Lauderdale after debarking from the Allure of the Seas?
tiny260
If you do the self disembarkation you can easily make a 11am, I'm usually cautious and try and book 12:30 - 1. That way I can be a little more laid back about getting off.
twangster
My personal best off an Oasis class ship in Port Everglades using self-assist, taking a cab, checking a bag and using TSA Pre to get through FLL security got me to my gate at 7:55am. I would not plan on that because the stars aligned perfectly for me. It's simply to illustrate what is possible. On Monday I was coming off Brilliance and had a 10 hour fog delay. I barely made my 6:30pm flight. That gives you spectrum of best case to worst case scenario. Allure's luggage valet program requires the flight depart after 11:30am so that gives you an idea of what they consider safe. tiny260

I wanted this so bad on my recent Allure trip but we were ported out of Miami. I did love the facial recognition system that was in place, being Star Class the Genie escorted us off about 9-9:30 and there was no one in line for the facial recognition machines except my wife and I, it was nice. VinceC
Thank you for the replies..... Tiny, do you think I could make a 10:20am flight out of FLL? I know they allow lining-up for debarkation at 6:30am, but with Customs I figured I could be out of there by 8:30am and at airport by 9:00am. I have Pre-Check but I will be checking 2 bags. I know it is close but at least my connection would not be so bad. Otherwise my next flight would be at 4pm to 5pm.
tiny260
You would have to do what @twangster recommends and be up early and at the self disembarkation line, get out and through Customs (Which shouldn't be bad that early) and then get you a taxi or uber to the airport. Pre-check will help. I would have a contingency plan in place in case the ship doesn't arrive when it is supposed to.
twangster
I'm trying for a 10:40am Southwest flight out of FLL from Port Miami in March. It's risky but I have travel insurance and accept that I'm pushing my luck. There will be some out of pocket costs if I miss my flight but traveling alone, getting up early and being near the front of the self-assist line should help. A 10:20am flight will work if the stars align but understand you are pushing your luck. tiny260
FloridaCruiseGirl1210
My boyfriend are having this conversation now about our Adventure cruise in October. We tend to like to take it easy on debarkation, so we are actually planning a 5pm departure, thankfully its a direct flight for us. My mom was on the Brilliance cruise that @twangster was on last week, and I personally couldn't justify taking a risk. NJCruisers

It might be worth looking into

PS: the line starts for self debarkation earlier then 6:30. I have seen lines start to form at 5:30am. For reference I have been off the ship and drinking a coffee at Starbucks nearby by 6:45am. monctonguy
If your one of the first off the ship then you could make it for sure....but its risky...I wouldn't do it myself to be honest..not that early....

Matt
11am is usually the earliest I recommend. You can certainly make an earlier flight, but it requires hustle, some planning, and a schmidge of luck.

There was no wait for customs and we walked right through. We were at our gate at FLL by 7:00 AM. We had a 9:00 AM flight. We fly Southwest so we could change flights if needed. It was an early morning but was nice to be home at a decent time. tiny260
FloridaCruiseGirl1210
Can someone explain to me the reason behind early morning flights after a cruise? I get if you have to take like 2-3 connections, but if not, why not enjoy the "last" day of your vacation. I know on debarkation day, I am not ready to go back to reality... I know what you are saying and I do agree, but everyone is going to have a reason. Family, pets, work etc.. The last time I did it we were cruising out of Galveston with my Grandson, he really wanted to get home and see his Mom, 6 day cruise would have been perfect, 7 days he started getting home sick, plus his little brother's birthday was the same day at 5pm and it was a 9 hour drive. So we rushed off to get him home.

Those flights are often the most economical. You are also beating the "rush". You might be able to hail an Uber/Lyft before surge pricing hits. lovecruising!!!

Yes, and when I say a "easy morning" I still mean being at breakfast by 6-6:30 a.m.
Katiel53
I have sailed on Allure several times and I have had flights from FLL at 10:15 most of those cruises. I do self assist and have done an early breakfast and then right off the ship. I have arrived at the airport shortly after 7, so it's been plenty of time for the check-in for my flight. I won't recommend what I did a couple of weeks ago, but I sailed on Harmony. I had an 8:30AM flight home. We got in line about 6AM and were off the ship shortly after 6:30 and at the airport before 7AM. There were no lines for check in and I was at my gate about 7:10 or so. I did have a back-up plan and that was a flight at 5PM, but I didn't want to sit around all day waiting to go home. I felt badly for my sister who was traveling with me as her flight home didn't leave until 10:30 so she was at the airport for quite a while.
