  1. I had a fraud alert on a card while on a vacation. We paid at a restaurant and as we walked out the door, got a call from Chase that our card was also just used elsewhere. We suspect someone in the restaurant wrote down the number and used it online but that's not important to the story. I was able to ask Chase to approve our expected hotel charges using the old card but deny anything else. Then, I just used a different card until we got home and received the replacement Chase card.
  2. The US version of the Royal website is also known for not showing all available cabins. People used to recommend viewing using the UK version of the website because it showed everything but I've heard they've got the "updated" version of the website too now. If you call Royal (or a TA) to book, they can see all available cabins. So if you call with the deck plans in front of you, you can work out the best option.
  3. Actually, I'm pretty sure they'll only give you one block even if hubby/under 17 ARE on the sailing.
  4. Those snacks look like full meals to me! If I'm ever fortunate enough to experience Star Class, I fear I would have to ask my genie to roll me off the ship at the end of the cruise!
  5. UDP = Unlimited DINING Package so has nothing to do with alcohol. This package can't be used for MDR upcharges. DBP = Deluxe Beverage Package can be used in the MDR (and generally anywhere else) to cover drinks/wine up to $13. Gotta watch your TLAs! (That's Three Letter Acronyms)
  6. I don't have an official source but I believe I've seen it posted that the pricing for passenger #3 and higher is locked in once you book with 3+ passengers. So going from 2 to 3 will trigger a reprice but going from 3 to 4+ does not. They just add more people at passenger #3's price. Based on that, I've seen recommendations to book for the most people you think will come because it's always harder to add people. (For example, even if the room fits more, if the muster station is full, you cannot add more passengers). If the per passenger cost is locked, it shouldn't be hard to remove them. Definitely worth calling. No show is certainly an option but probably an expensive choice due to the suite.
  7. Would be helpful to post the contents of that email... Swapping embarkation lunch for free room service has been discussed and generally well received in other threads. If there's other changes, you'll have to describe them.
  8. I would say both C+A agents were wrong since the double points promo is through Dec 31 2022. I suppose we should all be careful with our choice of words. It's technically extra points for single, extra points for suite, and double points for the promo. But I agree that if a no show means someone sails alone, they will earn the extra points but might have to call to actually get them.
  9. No need to feel bad about asking questions. You'd be surprised how much more I've learned from reading posts here vs the official Royal sources. Sometimes their websites just don't make it easy to find the info you need!
  10. Out of curiosity, are your graphs showing the price for a specific class of room (like Jr Suite) or just what Royal's website shows for the broad category (Deluxe)? I'm wondering if the deluxe prices really fluctuate like that or if the lower prices are when a Jr Suite is available and the higher prices are when a Grand Suite or higher is the cheapest available room.
  11. For the most part, it doesn't matter what % or $ off discount was used when you booked. Those "sales" and "full price" are constantly changing so that they always sound like a good deal. All that matters is your actual price. If today's deal works out to a better price, you or your TA can call and reprice to take advantage.
  12. Not sure when you last cruised, but people have been wearing whatever they want to the main dining room for a long time now. The official dress code recommendations are just that. Recommendations, not enforced. Swimsuits are pretty much the only thing that will get you turned away.
  13. Your points won't post until some number of days after the 2nd cruise but you have earned them. You will need to contact the Loyalty Ambassador once you board the 3rd cruise. They can verify you have earned the points and upgrade your status in the ship's system. Most likely, your SeaPass cards won't be updated to the right color but you will get the benefits.
  14. Seems like a typo to me because it says Days 3-5 in one place and Day 3, 3PM - Day 4, 1PM in the other. I find it pretty hard to believe that they would stop for less than 24 hours on a 6 night cruise that only visits one place!
  15. I asked a similar question right before the previous expiration (June 30 I think) and was pleasantly surprised when they extended it to now. Unfortunately, my wife still isn't comfortable booking trips mostly because our son is too young for a vaccine and she won't consider leaving him with his grandparents for a whole week. I've made my peace that we'll be missing out on the Double Points promo. I'm really hoping they will extend the booking date until Dec 31, 2021 and I seriously doubt they will extend the Dec 31, 2022 sail by date.
  16. You can only be booked as traditional OR my time dining and the choice will be for your entire party. Many parents would take their kids to the Windjammer Buffet for dinner, drop them off at Adventure Ocean, and then enjoy their own dinner (whether MDR or specialty). However, that option doesn't work right now since the Windjammer hasn't been open for dinner during the restart. You could use another complimentary dining option instead of the Windjammer though.
  17. Honestly, I don't understand why the default setting for WiFi Calling is OFF. Whenever I get a new phone, it's one of the first settings I change before I even leave the store! I think I also had to call Verizon to activate it for my account with my first phone, but that was many years ago.
  18. While on board, you can buy the package for the rest of your cruise as long as it is still on sale. Actually, some people think it makes a lot of sense to wait until day 2 or 3 to buy the package especially if they board late on day 1 because they won't get enough use that day. You cannot buy individual days or end the package early. The only option is the current day until the end of the cruise. They will stop selling it eventually. So on a 7 day cruise, you should not expect to be able to purchase a package on day 5.
  19. Repricing may change on board credit if it was part of the price. For example, if you booked during a "Save 30% on the second guest and get $200 OBC" promotion and you reprice under a "$400 off your booking" promotion, then that $200 OBC goes away. However, it's important to look at your final cost because the base price of the cruise is also constantly changing. In my example, there's not enough information to tell which is the better deal. You should only reprice if the final cost actually saves you money.
  20. New life goal. Spend long enough on a cruise ship that getting my sea legs hurts! Apparently, a week isn't enough!
  21. What is this new meaning for "sea legs"? I've only heard (and used) it as being on a ship long enough to get used to the movement of the water so you can walk steadily without looking like you are drunk and falling over whenever a big wave comes by.
  22. Unfortunately, no one knows yet. We probably won't know until the first cruise with a new final payment date reaches its new check in date. Personally, I wouldn't trust Royal's IT department to save the previous check ins but we might be surprised.
  23. @Matt speaking of site issues. Lately I've noticed that when I visit the home page (https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com) I don't always see the most recent blog post. For example, I just visited and see a post from yesterday but I know I've already seen posts from today. If I hit refresh, then the most recent post is there. At first, I thought this was a cookie problem, but I've now seen it happen from multiple computers. Any ideas?
  24. Actually, on further reflection, on board credit (OBC) might be effected depending on where it came from. If it was part of the promotion/sale that was in effect when you booked, it would be replaced with whatever is in effect when you reprice. So you would want to look at the total cost of the trip including OBC but for a $500 drop in price, you will probably still come out ahead. There are other sources of OBC. If you got it as a bonus from your travel agent, or from owning >100 shares of Royal stock, or some other category I'm forgetting, that would not be effected by a reprice.
  25. Do you want to change rooms? If it's the same category of cabin, you can just call and reprice your current cabin. Either way, it shouldn't effect your deposit or on board credit.
