The CDC was very slow to respond when the pandemic started and they stumbled several times when they did.  It should come as no surprise they are slow to react now.

What’s your latest prediction for the restart? I’m at March 2022.

There have been no official announcements from Royal and I think it’s unproductive for things to be stated as fact when they are not.  I think we all know the current status of cruising from US ports and are frustrated at the lack of information.

here’s the link to the Royal page about the status of everything.

@Mattwrote a post about the “cancellation schedule” and basically, it’s not standard and fluctuates wildly.  Of course, I cannot find the post at the moment.

Hello RCB Community, time to dust off the suir=tcases is getting closer.
We are booked on a cruise out of Miami in February 13th 2022 on the Radiance for a 5 night  going to Key West. I had a price issue with my TA, so I looked at Royal's US site to compare to the Australian site and the itenarary is slightly different which I find ubnsusal? Although in saying this, it is Royal and their IT department seems to have afternoon drinks on occasions, LOL
The Australian site has Nassau, Bahamas and the US site has Key West, Florida.
I don't really care as never to been either, and this leg for us is a recovery, relaxing cruise after a mind and body blowout on the Symphony

If I switch to the Aussie site, once I select that date and start the booking process it shows Key West.

Are you on the Symphony 2/5/21? We are on that cruise then drive down to Key West for the following week. It is a 3 hour drive.

I think I would be okay if both a vaccine and mask were required to cruise. As long as most of the regular cruise options are available, I would be okay. If there are no shows, limited entertainment, and the relaxing elements are changed then it makes it less worth it.  Especially if you are paying for sky class or higher. They can serve my buffet and limit capacity but not my fun.

We got the vaccine so we could travel.  For early cruising, I would put up with the mask.

I will absolutely cruise with other vaccinated people (and not go on a cruise with unvaccinated people), but a mask would be a deal breaker. I love cruising and the whole thing about mask wearing, social distancing, and limited onboard experiences doesn't sound like something I want to be a part of. It wouldn't really feel like a vacation given we are constantly wearing this thing on our face and the thought of not being around others on a ship is kinda weird, ruins the cruise experience IMO. Definitely willing to wait as long as possible until those restrictions are gone.

Will not go if mask is required. Had covid in Nov., vacinated this past month, now a negative test also required......see the pattern developing here?

I am afraid like @Lovetocruise2002 and other Canadians, this is the only cruise ship I will be on this coming summer:

My next booked cruise is January 2022. After already having 6 cancelled I accepted that even if cruises do start up this summer or fall in US it would be an incredible hassle as a Canadian to try to get on one of the first cruises ?

I'm married to a Naval Aviator (USMC) and my father was also a Marine Naval Aviator.
Both of them flew the A4's - my dad flew them when they first came into the Marine Corps and Dan flew them out.

The cruise lines, yes. But politicians seeking workarounds to the Canadian cruise ban while the American cruise ban still lingers seems counter productive.

POSTED ON MICHAEL BAYLEY’s FACEBOOK PAGE 1 HOUR AGO
Today, U.S Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan introduced the Alaska Tourism Recovery Act. This bill would allow cruise ships to sail to Alaska without requiring that they stop in Canada. If passed, this would represent a step in the right direction for the Alaskan communities that depend on the tourism industry. If you support the bill, please reach out to your representatives to make your voice heard!

I feel like with news that the US will have so much vaccine in a few months time Canada should respond to the plead from Congress to open their ports with...
We can open the ports... for ten million doses.

The good news or positive spin is...  Congress didn't address that cruise ships can't sail yet because of the CDC CSO, so maybe they already know the CDC will be allowing cruise ships to sail this summer.

The government will never allow that...even though no tourists would come ashore..ppl here would be in an outrage at the thoughts of that...
Ppl here are so brainwashed about Covid, that the vandalize cars of fellow Canadians if the license plate is from not around here......that should tell you all you need to know.

Why doesn't the US change their own stupid law and solve the problem...like really?......

I do find it interesting that Congress is going to Canada to ask them to allow something that has previously been ruled in a formal hearing to violate the laws of the United States.  ?
Also, Congress must have determined this to be the path of least resistance rather than amending the actual laws, both the PVSA and immigration law.
It's kind of funny actually, unless it's just for show and they know it isn't going to happen.
    Time will tell.
