There are plenty of people who don't book any drink or internet package. Far from shady.
The model Royal has is based primarily in what guests want. They want the lowest possible price to get onboard and then customize their experience with add-ons that they elect to purchase.
It's a modular approach that has been in place for decades and it's resonated with guests.
The one area I wish was included was gratuities since they've become compulsory with the auto-gratuities.
But going back to your earlier point, I'd argue the onus is on the consumer to research before they buy.  Ignorance isn't an excuse.

Just looking ahead to a cruise I have in a few months, the MDR sugar-free offerings are:
Pear and Blueberry Cobbler Peach Shortcake Coconut Layer Cake Dark Chocolate Custard Profiteroles Pineapple Sunshine Cake Cherries Jubilee Those are just the ones specifically advertised as "no sugar added." There may be other options available and the menu could conceivably change between now and your cruise. But this has been kind of a "standard" menu for some time now, so that should at least give you an idea. There is always at least one of these on the MDR menu, as well as several options in the Windjammer.
I travel with family members who are diabetic and they've never missed a dessert yet.  😀

Currently, ships that use the affected dock are tendering guests into the port using the ships life boats.
Last week, Quantum left this message in the staterooms of it's guests.

Absolutely! As stated by @CrimsonCruiser, the MDR will have at least one new Sugar Free/No Sugar Added dessert each night with an ice cream flavor with no added sugar also available each night.
Also be on the lookout in other venues (Windjammer, Cafe Promenade, Etc.) for Sugar Free/No Sugar added treats as well, such as Chocolate Mousse, parfaits, and chocolate chip cookies (my favorite!). (These items will be labeled as SF or NSA)
Your F.I.L. will find no shortage of delicious things to enjoy!

    Welcome to the boards!
    1. Currently, you can choose a boarding time when it is time to check-in for the cruise. Check-in is available at 45 days from your cruise date. Boarding times are half hour windows that are GENERALLY about 10 or 10:30 am until (probably?) 3:00pm. (If you have any travel issues and show up after your scheduled boarding time, it's not a big deal). BTW, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to fly in the day before rather than fly in the day of your cruise just in case of travel issues, especially right now with so many airline troubles happening.
    2. Absolutely bring your bathing suits in your carry on! Pools, Hot tubs, and water slides will be open.
    3. While the ARRIVAL time of the ship can be pretty early, the ship may not be cleared by the port for passengers to debark until a bit later. If you decide to "self-disembark" and take your luggage off the ship with you instead of having your luggage gathered the night before, you can leave as soon as the ship is cleared. (As a general rule, many here on this site don't book any flights that leave before noon.)
FYI: Navigator is a GREAT ship!

How many Emed tests do you need? I have two left that I won't be able to use before they expire. (Nov 6, 2022)
I'd rather just give them to someone on this site that needs them instead of throwing them away.
UPDATE: The two tests have been requested by and sent to another blog member with a Canadian port stop.

I am pleased to report that the Bourbon was WELL STOCKED onboard Quantum of the Seas last week!
One hiccup that I had on Day One is that ONE BAR did not have Buffalo Trace. The bartender told me that they would have it the next day as they had not yet received their restock yet. All other bars I visited that day did have it.
For the duration of the Cruise, all bars we visited had Buffalo Trace (YES!), Maker's Mark, Bulleit, Bulleit Rye, & Jim Beam. I don't recall seeing Four Roses, but I was also not seeking it out.

We just used this and it was a great service!
I signed up and was concerned about getting the boarding passes and luggage tags since the "usual" checked in time for our flight was after 10:00pm the night before disembarkation. Our luggage tags and printed boarding passes were already waiting for us in our stateroom by the time we returned to the ship at around 7:00 pm.
Not having to search for our luggage at the port OR clumsily disembarking with our bags was VERY convenient!
Snapshot of the ship's port valet letter below.

To add to my previous posting about my wife's experience eating GF on Odyssey recently, a few photos my wife took of some of the gluten-free things she enjoyed!
    MDR - Crust-less Strawberry Cheesecake

MDR - Apple Pie ala Mode made Gluten-Free just for her! She liked this so much she made a request to have it again the next night which they gladly did.

Crown and Compass Pub - Pulled Pork Nachos. VERY Tasty and a great value at $4.00!

Café Two70 - Turkey and Bacon Club on a Gluten Free Bun and a Gluten-Free Puff Pastry (I can't remember any additional details about it.)

Wonderland - Liquid Lobster, Tomato Water (without the bread foam on hers), and Reconstructed Caprese.

Wonderland - Sashimi of Red and White Tuna

Wonderland - The Chicken and the Egg (Crispy skin chicken with potato puree "eggs")

Thank you for this post @Amanda92. My wife needs to eat gluten free and the amount of effort the staff puts into accommodating her dining needs is top-notch.
Recently on Odyssey, the effort was ramped up even more than on previous cruises. They did a great job modifying just about everything. (Especially, the apple pie a la mode!)
We agree about the pizza at Sorrento's. Unless you ask for it to be baked a little longer, it tends to be underdone.
I can't tell you how much stressed is eased off of her mind by not having to worry about mistakenly being served glutenous items and by knowing she is going to be able to eat delicious, well prepared foods throughout our vacation.
One note about Odyssey (and possibly other Quantum ships): The Café Two70 staff were terrific about gluten free options! We visited for breakfast on our first morning and a staff member assisted with preparing her breakfast sandwich with a gluten-free bagel (Udi's). This staff member (Rohman) and another (Emmanbien) obviously made mental notes of this because for the remainder of the cruise, whenever we would enter Two70, one of them would seemingly appear out of nowhere right next to her to personally ask her would she would like to have! 😆 Fantastic!
