However, you still haven't addressed the question of the dining room attendants and crew that work in unvaccinated indoor areas of the ship where passengers are not masked currently and how that would differ moving forward. I wont get in trouble again but then there is the whole question of the efficacy of cloth masks and if they would truly protect the crew. One would think that masks will not be a requirement forever on cruise ships as the pandemic wanes. I will not mention theater in front of the crew but I do recognize that some protocols in place do not stop the spread of covid (EX: Crew filling your soda cup at Freestyle machine). However, I am choosing to sail during a pandemic and agree to the protocols. Just as crew have chosen to work on a cruise ship and assume the inherent risks of doing so
I think the best protection for the crew is to get vaccinated and as other people have mentioned, the crew skews younger where their risks from serious outcome should be minimized especially being vaccinated.
There is no way to keep Covid cases from happening on cruise ships. All they can do is effective protocols that have proven to slow the spread.
As cruise ship customers, we do have a choice to spend our money on sailings during the pandemic with the listed protocols. It is a reasonable expectation that Royal will provide protection for their crews as Royal does not want to lose revenue. Also, it is up to the personal responsibility of the crew to protect themselves as well by being vaccinated and not work a cruise ship if they have medical conditions that would make them more susceptible to Covid. My cruise dollars during this pandemic help support the crew as well as me choosing to sail during a pandemic.
I sail in November and I will follow all safety protocols that Royal has set.

Masking has already become a class issue (see the MOMA spectacle for a recent example here) and part of the reason I sincerely oppose mask mandates for anyone, crew included. @Canadian-Cruiser is committing the same type of logical fallacy. Because an injustice is being committed on the basis of flimsy (at best) science and is forcing the crew to mask at the behest of a corporation catering to the whims of scared passengers, then we should all do it too. The problem is with the requirement in the first place.

I work in retail and have been dealing with the general public since the start of the pandemic - masked and unmasked.  I have no idea whether my customers are vaccinated, and they are certainly not covid tested immediately before they enter my store.  I work in one store, but stores and restaurants are open all over the US, and even the world.
Just like the crew, there is a small chance that I could be exposed to a live covid case and be within 6ft long enough to contract it - This is the reason that I chose to be vaccinated!  By doing so, I have reduced my risk to almost zero of having anything more than mild covid symptoms - I am no more worried about covid than I would have been 2 years ago about getting the flu.  I have a job to do and cruises to pay for - there is a very small risk, but I take it willingly.

I think that if an adult is traveling with an unvaccinated child, then the adult is considered unvaccinated…while they are with the child. If they decide to leave the child somewhere and want to enter a vaccinated-only venue, they can…because they are wearing the wrist band. As far as unvaccinated due to religious or medical exemption…I don’t think Royal will allow them to cruise at this time. So…I think as of now…every adult must be vaccinated to board. So, why have wristbands?

Based on the last 18+ months ... nope.
Pretty clearly demonstrated to my satisfaction that the cruise protocols in particular are pure theater driven by fear of an overreaching government agency.
Witness my first cruise in July with fewer protocols in place and statements being made by crew on board that they were prepping to reduce the protocols further in the near future and instead going the other way just to keep the CDC "happy".

Are these the Public Health experts that deny natural immunity and still mandate vaccines for those who have already had Covid?

Money allocations and certain other things can only be done under an "emergency" declaration, otherwise too much red tape. Leaving their options open in case they need it - easier to extend an existing one that institute a new one, most likely.

My premise is based on the fact that the CDC "experts" are driven more by politics than public health. And there lies the problem.
I am driven by looking at the data over the course of the pandemic to see what has and has not been effective and not to keep repeating the same protocols that have shown to not affect the spread of Covid but instead strictly based on politics
And do you follow every CDC guideline/recommendation in your day to day life?

If one thing has been exposed is that there are no TRUE "experts" when it comes to a novel coronavirus.
Back in May the Director of the CDC said vaccinated people do not spread the virus...guess what they do. She has been wrong on Covid MANY times. The CDC director went against her own "experts" regarding boosters recommendations and overruled them because that is what the WH and politics demanded. Top "Experts" in the FDA resigned over the booster shot issues. You can put your blind faith in CDC if you would like.
And do you truly follow ALL the guidelines from the CDC "experts" in your day to day life?
A BIG Issue is that the CDC is politically driven no matter what party is in control.
The Cruise Lines are following whatever protocols they think will keep them sailing. The are in contact with CDC officials and those CDC officials are part of the political agenda that the WH sets for them
Cruise ship passengers can assess their own risk by reviewing cruise lines health protocols and determining whether they feel safe cruising without government oversight. Some of these protocols are causing cancellations and reduced bookings. People who booked cruises well in advance for late 2021 and early 2022 sailings did not anticipate that some of these protocols would be in place and unless certain protocols change, there will be more cancellations
There are current protocols in place that are purely Covid theater and have nothing to do with stopping the spread of Covid. Having someone fill my soda cup vs me filling my own cup at a freesytle machine does not protect me from Covid.
Walking into a vaccinated designated dining room wearing a mask that i take off when I sit, does nothing to protect anyone from Covid.
I am all for protocols that are actually based on science and data, but unfortunately the cruise lines have to keep up the theater just to appease the CDC
IN 2 weeks we will see what happens to the CSO and how the cruise lines respond.

Agreed and that in itself is the major problem. Trying to appease a politically driven health agency. If ever there were an oxymoron...

Only in Florida is the CSO optional. But no way they wouldn't follow it out of fear of what the CDC might do.

Cruise lines follow the CDC because they have to.

Otherwise they never would have stood up the Healthy Sail panel to come up with their own recommendations.

Logic really hasn't had a lot to do with any CDC action so this would seem perfectly reasonable.
I'm just hoping they don't ask to demonstrate how to flood the ship in an emergency in order to "wash away covid".
