Can I bring onboard a small fan to help me sleep?
GaryAA replied to Karen Bauer's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I have brought an 14” fan in my suitcase for over 20 cruises. One time they held my suitcase in security but let me take it anyway. -
I had a similar situation in Bayonne before a cruise. We ended up just booking an additional night so we would be guaranteed to have a room. The manager of the hotel did give us a break on the room rate.

I paid my final payment and checked in for the 12/4 cruise on the Symphony but appears I’ll have to check in again.
-
What is your sail date? Just curious how far out it was before they made the 12:00 checkin available. We sail on the Symphony December 4th.

Thanks or the info from another Buckeye (Westerville). Our public library has test kits also. I may go that route for our December cruise. For our Ovation cruise two weeks ago, we had a Covid test scheduled at CVS. They canceled our appointment the night before so we had to scramble to find another place.

Passport required for Alaska in 2021?
GaryAA replied to steverk's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Yes, passport is required. We just sailed on the Ovation last week. The White Pass train is not able to go into Canada since there are bridges being repaired. Our excursion was shortened by 45 minutes. -
I'll never stay in a ________________ cabin again!
GaryAA replied to FManke's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I’d never pick an inside cabin, reminds me of my Navy days on an aircraft carrier. We always get a junior suite or above near the rear elevator. Back when we cruised on Carnival, we were ok with cabins with just a porthole. Once we sailed on the Mariner in a junior suite on our first Royal cruise, that spoiled us. -
First Royal Caribbean Ship You Went On
GaryAA replied to LovetoCruise87's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Mariner of the Seas in 2004. Prior to that it was all Carnival cruises. We haven’t sailed on a Carnival ship since ? -
Ocho Rios and Fallmouth Jamaica. Dunn’s River Falls was fun 25 years ago but is so crowded now.
-
I also avoid the casino due to the smoke. I wish Royal Caribbean would follow Celebrity’s lead and ban smoking in the casino.

We started out on the Voyager class but have been on the Freedom, Oasis, and Quantum classes too. We like them all and choose based on who is traveling with us (kids) or itinerary (scuba/snorkeling spots).

Once the bid is made, you can only modify the bid amount. You will have to cancel your bid, then re-bid with the new payment information.

Marriott Biscayne Bay is nice. There is a “mini mall” that connects to the adjacent Doubletree Hotel. There are restaurants and shops in the mall. The port is a short cab ride away.

We flew first class to Hawaii 5 years ago and now we are spoiled. Ever since then we fly first class. We enjoy the priority checkin, free baggage, and no third seat to deal with. The extra snacks and meals on longer trips is nice too. Not sure it is worth it money wise but we still keep doing it....?

We’ve stayed in Hilton Hawaiian Village before and liked that there were shops and restaurants within a short walk away.

We started out on Carnival cruises with our two daughters in a bunk bed cabin with a porthole. When we switched to Royal, we got our first balcony cabin on the Mariner and loved it. We enjoy stargazing at night and watching the ship dock in port. We now get a Junior suite and like them although we have a few cruises booked in grand suites. I would not hesitate to go back to a standard balcony room though.

I assume the one I have booked on the Odyssey in March 2022 is a spa junior suite like the Anthem and Ovation. The deck plan is slightly different than those ships though. Cruisedeckplans.com shows the junior suite you are mentioning (assuming this information is correct). You are right though, can't find any information on it.

Nothing worse than going back to your cabin and having your clothes smell like smoke.

Cruise planner purchases if cruise cancelled
GaryAA replied to UNCFanatik's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I canceled an Alaskan cruise booked in 2020 and the excursion money was applied directly to the deposit on another Alaskan cruise for 2021. I was surprised it did not go to onboard credit. -
I like the Mariner, it was my first Royal cruise. I’ve been on several Voyager and Freedom class ships after that cruise. My TA kept telling me to try an Oasis class ship but I resisted until finally trying out the Harmony and Symphony when they first came out. They are probably my favorite ships in the fleet. I would not hesitate to go on the Mariner though if it was a good route.

I have 3 cruises planned on the Anthem/Ovation/Odyssey in cabin 10638 (deck 10). I like being close to the elevator. The noise is not bad at all.
