DaiC01 got a reaction from Meridian in 100 shares and $100.00
I can see most cruise lines doing a share issue {generate some cash to cover lost income} when this all dies down which will probably drive down the share value further in the short term.

It's run by a 3rd party company - they provide the same service to Norwegian, which is why I don't know how clear most Royal employees are on it.

Well, I'm sure other people have other concerns, but for me I wouldn't mind being stuck on a cruise ship for a longer time than I paid for (I paid for only a 4-night cruise), and I don't have to fly to the departure point because I live only an hour's drive away. If I'm denied boarding, I'll just go out for breakfast and then return home. And face masks serve the purpose of preventing me from touching my face (the average person touches their face 23 times/hour without realizing it). And I already have a box of face masks and a box of gloves left over from my cancer treatment 2 years ago. So the decision is easier for me.

DaiC01 reacted to PG Cruiser in Cruise Ships Affected by the Coronavirus
Costa Smeralda - delayed in Civitavecchia (Rome) for coronavirus testing. A passenger was diagnosed with the flu, not COVID-19
Westerdam - Denied docking in five ports before finally being allowed to dock in Cambodia. All guests and crew members have been reported clear of COVID-19
Diamond Princess - one of the largest clusters of infection, held in Yokohoma, Japan.
World Dream - put in quarantine in Hong Kong after three passenger from a previous cruise were later found positive with the virus.
Anthem of the Seas - delayed departure from New Jersey with shortened and revised itinerary to Bermuda. Four passengers from the previous sailing were evaluated for the virus and found negative.
Meraviglia - turned away at Jamaica and Grand Cayman, allowed to dock in Cozumel but disembarkation was not allowed while Mexican officials conducted tests. Two passengers were found positive with flu, not COVID-19.
Grand Princess - held off the coast of San Francisco with crew members and passengers showing symptoms. UPDATE: As of 3/6/2020, 21 passengers have tested positive for COVID-19.
Costa Fortuna - denied permission to dock on the island of Phuket (Thailand) because 64 people on board had been in Italy in the last 14 days
MSC Opera - turned away from Malta after doctors threatened industrial action if it docked amid coronavirus concerns. The MSC Opera's operator said it agreed not enter the country's port on Friday to "avoid unnecessary public unrest". The government said the decision followed "public alarm raised by misleading information" and blamed an unnamed local media outlet. Both the government and the operator said there were no cases on board.
Carnival Magic - denied docking in Grand Turk over an illness on board the ship
Carnival Panorama - debarkation process suspended Saturday (3/7) due to a medical matter on board the cruise ship. Test results came back negative for COVID-19.
Royal Princess - Passengers who were set to sail for a 7-day journey to Mexico from the Port of Los Angeles on Saturday were forced to make other plans after the cruise was canceled over coronavirus concerns.
Regal Princess - refused permission to dock in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday (3/8) morning pending results of tests on two crew members who transferred recently from the Grand Princess.
LATEST UPDATE: ALL CRUISE SHIPS AND CRUISE LINES
These ships have been directly or indirectly affected by the coronavirus. Most instances were false alarms but have caused significant delays and disruptions for passengers and crew.

Face masks will do nothing to prevent you catching the virus - they would only help the infected from spreading the virus, who will hopefully be in quarantine. Face mask companies, will do nothing to dispel the myth, and explain how and when different type of masks are effective for what {Dust, chemical and fluid}

It does make sense. If they think they can move and refill X number of down-channel cabins (interior and whatnot) and they offered enough balconies opportunities they might not have needed to worry about moving you around. It could also have to do with the number of people in your cabin, your muster station, your dining time, etc. Who knows.

New Caledonia visa requirements include medical insurance. Most travelers would have had that in hand already for the entire trip, making an extra purchase unnecessary. I am sorry you have had a nice vacation discombobulated. But travel insurance is more or less a good idea regardless of where you go. I like Matt's recent video that puts it all in perspective. Nothing can make your disappointment go away entirely, but I find that if I plan appropriately and "go with the flow" I can find something positive in the experience. I have fretted about hurricanes (almost a direct hit by Dorian), but my wife and I try not to hold the carrier responsible for uncontrollable events. Again, I am sorry you appear to be missing your desired port calls.

Interestingly, I didn't get an RoyalUp invite, but on a whim, I decided to try the web site -- not to bid, but to see if it worked. I'm 70 days out, and it takes me to the bid screen.
On my December 2020 cruise, I get the "only available 30 days prior" message; that one's not paid in full yet.

@Cruiser nic Hello and welcome to the RCB forums! I am sorry for the trouble you are having. What are you looking to do? Do you want to cancel and get your money back? When is your cruise? What did RCL say when you called? Did you ask them what would happen if your airline cancels your flight? Please let us know. I am cruising this Sunday and am quite nervous. Any and all information would be helpful. Thanks...

THe CV list. Is that 2 now? The hysteria is what is out of control, not the virus.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ this site looks to have accurate info - like you my feeling is the media is over hyping the situation. Looking at the figures the rate total of new suspect cases world wide is on the decline {when I checked yesterday}.
In my opinion the web based news media are using the virus as click bate and TV media and Newspapers are not much better.

DaiC01 got a reaction from whenismynextcruise in Worried about coronavirus
Interesting addition to an article I've been following :
"IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - CORONAVIRUS
Last evening dining out with friends, one of their uncles, who's graduated with a master's degree and who worked in Shenzhen Hospital (Guangdong Province, China) sent him the following notes on Coronavirus for guidance:
1. If you have a runny nose and sputum, you have a common cold
2. Coronavirus pneumonia is a dry cough with no runny nose.
3. This new virus is not heat-resistant and will be killed by a temperature of just 26/27 degrees. It hates the Sun.
4. If someone sneezes with it, it takes about 10 feet before it drops to the ground and is no longer airborne.
5. If it drops on a metal surface it will live for at least 12 hours - so if you come into contact with any metal surface - wash your hands as soon as you can with a bacterial soap.
6. On fabric it can survive for 6-12 hours. normal laundry detergent will kill it.
7. Drinking warm water is effective for all viruses. Try not to drink liquids with ice.
8. Wash your hands frequently as the virus can only live on your hands for 5-10 minutes, but - a lot can happen during that time - you can rub your eyes, pick your nose unwittingly and so on.
9. You should also gargle as a prevention. A simple solution of salt in warm water will suffice.
10. Can't emphasise enough - drink plenty of water!
THE SYMPTOMS
1. It will first infect the throat, so you'll have a sore throat lasting 3/4 days
2. The virus then blends into a nasal fluid that enters the trachea and then the lungs, causing pneumonia. This takes about 5/6 days further.
3. With the pneumonia comes high fever and difficulty in breathing.
4. The nasal congestion is not like the normal kind. You feel like you're drowning. It's imperative you then seek immediate attention."

Well does anyone remember how RCL dealt with H1N1 and the Swine flu?
IMO I think it will probably be similar to that.

DaiC01 reacted to BB1 in Worried about coronavirus
Just my opinion. This is going to be like a slow train wreck. I believe that not only is the virus in the US but it is wide spread. As they test more and more, they will find more and more. The reason it seems to be spreading so quickly is that they're just identifying it in pts who were assumed to have the flu or a cold. In my city, it has been one of the worst "flu" seasons in history and hospitals have been full for months. If it is very wide spread it would exaggerate the apparent death rate as most people recover without seeking care and so hopefully it won't be that virulent. Thousands of Chinese were traveling all over the world before the Chinese government even acknowledged the virus. How could it not have spread. This whole situation has never made much sense to me and this is the best I can come up with.

Not every one receives the RoyalUp offers. There’s no way to “get invited”. I have read of others being permitted to bid by using the website you referenced, but personally, I don’t believe it. IMO, unless you get the email invitation, or at least, unless they INTENDED that you get the email invitation, you will not be able to bid.
