@WAAAYTOOO  thank you so much for this comment!  I’ve been lookin for someone who stayed in this room. We’re staying in this room next summer and my parents in 1756.  Can the balcony divider be removed?  In the video I saw online, it looks like a white wall. Also, is 1758 and 1756 behind that first door?

    thank you!

You will LOVE 1758.  To date, it's the best suite we've ever had.  Next year we are in the one on the other side (Owner's Panoramic - slightly bigger).  The ONLY negative about the GPS is that the balcony is very small and narrow...but there is still room for 2 loungers and a hot tub.  We did a semi-live faux blog from this suite but I cannot recall the title of the thread.  Let me see if I can find it.  There are some pictures and information in it that you might find useful.  I totally hijacked someone else's thread and just added my stuff on top.

Yes, both 1956 and 1758 (and ONLY those 2) are behind that first door so you won't have to worry about anyone else loitering around your front doors.  No, unfortunately, you cannot access the balcony "next door".  Dan says that there's a bulkhead between the 2 balconies (not even just a balcony divider) plus there's a hot tub in the way !!  So your parents will have to walk around the long way.  LOL

OK.  I got my stories/blogs confused.  The one where I hijacked someone else's thread was for my Feb. shortened Anthem cruise.  There is an ACTUAL live blog that I did for this GPS on Oasis.  It is at

The first part is from Brilliance but the second half is from Oasis from 1758

  3. As I have mentioned elsewhere, I have always been vexed by the values for FCCs.  I don’t see how it’s possible for Royal to justify anything less than 100% - or 125% - depending on what has been promised, but they always surprise me with something less than I expected. I hope they will recalculate those who have received less than they expected but I have been disappointed before.

  4. So, if you remove your grandmother from the booking it will just be in your mom’s name then.  So after the name change, do a Cruise With Confidence on her booking and then Lift & Shift your booking. The FCC on the mom/grandma booking will be in your mom’s name, but you said that was ok, right ?  Won’t that work ?

  5. I don’t see any reason why you cannot simply remove your grandmother from the reservation first and the Lift & Shift the reservation afterwards. I think the worst that could happen would be that they might reprice the booking when you remove your grandmother.  ...but I think this would work for you.

  6. I found something interesting while checking out Alaska cruise + tour.  Thinking about booking something this Jun (sure to be cancelled) that I can Lift & Shift to next summer.

The Owner's Suite is cheaper (barely, but still....) than the Grand Suite.  This one would be a good candidate....except that there are no OS available for the Jun 2021 matching itinerary.  Bummer.

  7. Star Class pays for nothing additional as far as food is concerned.  The only thing that is not included for SC are the pastries at Starbucks and candy-by-the-pound at the candy store. All other food is included, including as many proteins as you want at Izumi Hibachi and/or sushi add-on at Izumi Hibachi.  Seafood towers and whole Maine lobsters at Chops are included. If you are on a Quantum class ship, the pastries at the French bakery are included.

I know what you mean. We were set to sail the Greek Isles out of Rome on Explorer of the Seas (whose Amp has now been delayed/canceled) in October. It was a cruise we have looked forward to for quite some time. Recently, though, the anticipation of the cruise has been overshadowed by worry. As soon as I saw Matt's Blog post on Wednesday, I researched same itineraries for October 2021 and once I saw that ours was available and on Odyssey of the Seas, we decided to jump. Our room, a 2BR suite, is limited and since there was one available our reschedule became easier to accept. The price differential was significant (the room we booked would have been 6000.00 more total over 4 people had we not been able to carry forward our original pricing) making it all the much easier to accept cancellation for this year. As an added perk we are now sailing on a ship with Suite Class so we will gain some additional benefits with our room now on Odyssey. I look at it this way; we have traded a vacation which became overshadowed with a little worry to one filled with excitement and anticipation again. And as they say, "time flies", and that year delay will be here before you know it. Because, like you, we need a vacation, we are hopeful that by the time we would have sailed, we can somewhat travel within the states, to a vacation spot that allows further distancing, and enjoy some R&R that way for 2020.

Wow !  I am very excited to hear that they allowed you to L&S from Explorer to Odyssey.  That's quite a step up in ship class.  GREAT move, IMO.

As a first time cruiser, I am hoping to be on Oasis of the Seas in October. We have a 1 BR Aquatheater Suite (11330) and have a few questions. I have been reading reviews online and have watched a ton of Youtube videos but I still have some questions that I am hoping you can help me with. I know there are a lot, so I appreciate any assistance you can provide. TIA

    1) I have not been in 11330 on Oasis, but I have stayed in that suite on Harmony.  There is a bathtub-shower combination.

    2) IMO, the filet at CK is the best one on the ship.  It may or may not be on night #1.  Some of the ships have moved it to later in the week so you will need to confirm the night for filet when you are contacted by the Concierge - usually 5-7 nights prior to sailing.

    3) We have often gone to the SL upon boarding to wait for our room to be ready.  It is a nice, quiet, comfortable place to wait and you can leave your carry-on luggage near the door and won't have to drag it around.

    4) The bridge tour is just that.  A bridge tour and nothing more.  I highly recommend the All Access Tour.  It is pricey but very enjoyable.

    5) Yes, the Concierge will make all of your specialty dining reservations prior to boarding, if you want them to do that.  Be sure and have them reserve your embarkation lunch, too.  When we were on Oasis in December, they had closed Chops on embarkation day due to the high demand of the staff in supporting the Key lunch in the MDR.  We were able to eat lunch at Giovanni's for embarkation lunch.  To my knowledge, Chops is still closed on embarkation day, but your Concierge will be able to advise you.

    6) The best you will be able to do is to get a tentative list of entertainment.  You can get this list by contacting [email protected]rccl.com about10 days prior to sailing.  The list of entertainment often changes at the last minute, but it will give you some idea of what types of entertainment will be onboard when you are there.  Otherwise, getting a recentish copy of the Daily Compass is about the best you can do to look at what types of activities are offered.

    7) Sushi to go is a ship-specific thing.  Some ships allow it, some do not.  I was able to get sushi to go when I was on Oasis in December but we were Star Class and I'm not sure if that made any difference or not.  Ask the Concierge.

😎 The UDP does not include any upcharge items...just standard menu items.  One thing to keep in mind is that you can get some items (appetizers and desserts, primarily) in any of the specialty restaurants or the Coastal Kitchen IF you have the UDP or are Star Class.  For instance, we often get the mushroom soup (from Chops) when we are at either the CK or Giovanni's (even 150 once) b/c I love it so much.  If you want the lobster tail from the MDR but you're not dining in the MDR that night, just ask for it wherever you are dining that night.  It's nice to have surf and turf at Chops without paying for the upcharge lobster at Chops !  Of course, the lobster tail is not the same as having the whole Maine lobster, but it is good enough.

Welcome to cruising.  You're starting in style !  Responses to your questions are above.

  10. I am guessing here....but I suspect that there is a waiting list for cabanas, and that if you cancel yours, the system will immediately pick up the first name on the wait list.  If you want to reprice your cabana I would recommend calling to do that so that the rep can make sure your cabana doesn't get snagged by someone.  If there are cabanas available, then purchasing the new one and cancelling the old one afterwards should also work.
