    I was bored so I did the math on that one;

You would have to go at 66.28kts from Barcelona to Cococay

And then 72.22kts on the way back from Labadee to Barcelona.

If they were to push it a bit on the way back and reach 76.4699 kts ...would temporal displacement occur? ?? ...and if it did would that mean an extra free sea day? ??

    back to the future GIF

  2. I've not booked the waterpark or overwater yet, we usually go to Chill Island.  There is transportation that runs around the island that is hop on hop off that would take you between the two. $1049 for overwater is the lowest I've seen price wise, i.would be tempted to book for that price. For comparison, we paid $899 for a standard club cabana for feb 2021 and that was a good deal

  3. While all of the dining venues are excellent, for us, the first time in a suite on a quantum class ship gave us full Coastal Kitchen access and it was the impetus to keep us in that class or above on all future cruises. It has the ambiance of a specialty restaurant coupled with a menu that changes throughout the week ... and I suspect many here would agree: Filet night is a can't miss!

Yeah, after 10 days, 2 surgeries and $17k, we lost our girl.  We're kind of lost without a girl in the house, but we're still trying to decide if it's the right time to get a puppy.

I am very sorry to hear the sad news.

We have had an unfortunate dog year also, we lost 2 boys shortly before this all started and are on the list for 2 pups.

Whatever your decide about the puppy, I always take the approach that you can't  have too many dogs! ???

The COVID bill for NY has got to be pretty high.  I have family in the Western part of the state where COVID had less dramatic impact but they'll all face the same state budget shortfall.  Maybe I'll move there but keep an address in Florida for tax purposes.  And a dog. And a cell phone.

And be sure to only keep expired items in the fridge! ??

We are in a county that has had almost 0 effect. 12000 tests, 113 positive, no new cases in 2 months, and 3 deaths, early on and none of them were locals. I wish we had a cruise port nearby ... perhaps we could host an Oasis class for a few months while everything else gets sorted out!

Interesting read.  "Wealth Flight" - learned a new term.

In this case people weren't fleeing NY, they just claimed they did as a tax dodge.  They were actually still living in NY but claimed to be living in Florida.

What they needed to do was find a Florida resident, give them a dog and a cell phone and pay for them.  Then the auditors would discover cell phone traces and vet bills in Florida.  But I digress.

That may have been the case for some, but others it was a case of guilty until proven innocent, and with some leverage they settled. Overall,  it was what I expect from NY.  I just hope I'm smart enough to get out before I'm the last person with a job ....paying everyone else's Bills ?????

Just another event in the ongoing cold war between NY and Florida. People have been fleeing NY in droves to escape oppressive taxes. Many go to Florida yet maintain property in NY for the summer months. Seems like retaliation  to me.

A couple of years ago NY state was sending investigators to Florida to investigate former residents for tax purposes. Tracing credit card purchases, mail forwarding, even showing up at the Florida properties to inspect and even inventory the refrigerator in an effort to establish less than 181 days Florida residency so they could collect NY income tax.

In case you wondered, I dont love NY.

    --------------------------------------------------------

So in essence, NY wasnt sending investigators to Florida to investigate former residents for tax purposes, per your previous statement. Sounds like to me a disgruntled ex-residence just bad mouthing NY!!  ?????

Not at all ... a current resident embarrassed to still be living here.

Although you are correct about me being willing to discuss the glaring shortcomings of the State Government.

I'm surprised a NY state employee can appear at a residence in another state and demand to enter the premises for an inspection.  How do they have authority to do so?

I found the article, I was a little fuzzy on the details as it over a year ago. The refrigerator inspections were in NY, the extended surveillance was cyber based. For some interesting reading:

I dont recall the particulars, it may have involved the IRS or may have been somewhat clandestine. I was pondering that same question, time for some research....

Don't people who retain property in NY still have to pay oppressive taxes on them?

I've often assumed it was retirees who go in droves to Florida.  Are young working families relocating to Florida to escape NY taxation as well?

In Florida the leaves on trees don't change with the season, the color of the licenses plates do.

I've always assumed it was to escape the depressing winters in New England.

Originally, it was more of a weather thing I believe. The term used here is "snowbirds"...probably elsewhere also ?

While it was mainly retirees in the past, working families in large numbers are leaving also as of late.

The property taxes are half of the equation. Income taxes are out of control in NY also, but zero in Florida.

So have you gotten any new offers ?  The only thing on my list are our annual prime offers.  I haven't decided where I'm going to use these, yet.

That is the only offer I have in my queue currently also. I suspect Club Royale is holding off on new offers other than the required annual status offers since most ad hoc promotions have a limited shelf life, and the short term future for sailings remains uncertain.  I do, however, check frequently just in case....??

I clicked on the Symphony and the page that opened was only Day 7 CocoCay. Won’t allow you to see any other days.

So my guess is: 7 night with only CocoCay. I’m fine with that however I’d prefer for CocoCay to be in the middle of the week but I won’t complain!

I am seeing something similar still for my October Oasis only day4 Cococay is on the calendar. Full site has all of the itinerary info ...although the dates are still wrong on the main page.

I would be OK with that itinerary though, 6 sea days and a stop at Cococay... I would book that if available ?

Still waiting to hear why no vaccine will be introduced prior to election day. Would really like to know you reasoning behind that specific date but I understand why you choose not

At times such as these I recall history and look for guidance, and focus on Proverbs 26:4 and 26:5. Although, I prefer Mark Twain's interpretation.  ?????

You started a thread on questions to ask Michael Bayley. For those reading & who would respond, you added that they "not ask the question as if they were members of the White House press corps". Reading " I have never posted a political view on this forum", my reaction is.?

You clearly have me mixed up with someone else. I neither started the thread you referenced, nor did I comment on it.

I now remember why I have NEVER been even tempted to have anything to do with Social Media. I stumbled upon this forum last year and decided to join the conversation. My expectations did not include this.  *sigh*

And exactly why is that specific date(election day) the one you typed?

Your political views should remain yours and not be repeatedly posted on a cruise forum.

    1. I have never posted a political view on this forum,  @Matt has a rule about that and I believe it should be followed.

    2. My comment wasn't politically motivated, it was a commentary on the influences of flawed bureaucracy that keeps us from cruising. A system that is an equal opportunity offender, it effects all sides.
