    HAHA!  If people think Royal is going out of business because of a shared drink package then Royal better rethink the business model!  It costs them so little for drinks!  This post made me laugh because I can see people freaking out...

    That email is from a different company. Caribbeanpaddle vs caribbeanpaddling. The first one is out of business, yes. The second appears to still be running.

    I'm not even a religious person.... but....  At this point, i really dont care so much about what happens regarding my cruise... I just heard on tv, that when this made landfall in the Bahamas an hour or so ago, it did so , officially in a tie with the one that hit the Fl Keys in the 1930's, as THE worst / most powerful hurricane to make landfall there..  in recorded history ... ?    Now is the time to seriously pray for the folks who live on those tiny islands

    Very true. It's sad that in these situations everyone gets worked up about refunds and ruined vacations. During the next few hours peoples lives are going to change forever. There will be massive destruction & probably loss of human lives. They will be in my thoughts as I selfishly enjoy my safe Labor Day weekend in New York.

    I am a cruise nerd.. I am Diamond Plus with 326 points.. Here is what I am excited for.. at 340 points I get a meal with an officer.. I am praying I get this meal.. I want to pick that officer's brain like no other. So im just hoping they don't take that perk away before I get to 340 which I will be getting by Jan for my birthday cruise. Other than that I have no complaints.. I like that I get my nightly diamond drinks and I like getting 2 days of free internet. I don't really care about boarding quicker as I cant always make it to the port before 12 anyways due to work issues. I mean would I love it if they threw in a free meal at chops like how NCL does with Cagney's sure that would be great but because they don't that doesn't make me want to stop sailing with Royal. I think people are getting way to upset with this whole loyalty program. I cruise on Royal because I like their product. I love how innovative their ships are. I love the shows/entertainment on Royal, I love the casino, I love the Unlimited dining package, I love the solariums, and now I also love Coco Cay lol so I absolutely don't keep cruising with them because of their loyalty program to me thats just so silly. But hey everyone is entitled to their own opinion and if the OP is done with Royal because they cant get on the boat fast enough ok no problem more room for the rest of us.

    Your interpretation of my posts was incorrect.  I was not angry nor dismissive and everyone is entitled to their opinion.  If you look all the way back to the beginning of this thread you will see the original posts were angry and basically temper tantrums because the poster was  not let on the ship early and the first two posters definitively proclaimed they would go elsewhere. I guess when people say that, I assume they mean it.  I guess they don't. My question was, and I repeat, if someone is so unhappy with the cruise line, why do they keep coming back? In my opinion, and this is just my opinion, many of these perks will be taken away as the upper tier levels swell. People will keep complaining and maybe eventually go elsewhere but it's not going to be any different elsewhere because they're all on the same playing field. I just signed up for this blog so I don't have a long history but I have been cruising for years and I see these people with bad attitudes affecting other guests trips and I don't think that's fair. One last point.  I really don't see how anything I say can be construed as cheerleading.  I just think people refuse to face reality

    I have to disagree that holding a conversation in a bar is disrespectful to a piano player or those who want to listen. The bar is a public area and it was inappropriate for the crew member to ask a paying customer to move away from the space they were already occupying when the piano player arrived.

    I see what you are saying in that some guests went to the bar specifically to hear the piano player, but he is in the middle of a bar. It's not like a theater where there is an expectation that everyone be quiet to watch the show. It's unrealistic to expect everyone be quiet in a bar atmosphere - to some passengers, he's just the muzak in the background while they visit with friends and enjoy their drink.

    There is an ala carte menu with more items at Izumi.  I tried to stay within the $35 credit but the waiter told me that if I went over, I’d be billed for it

    Yes, if I had any dining package, I could make reservations through my concierge via email. However, it's a moot point now since I am not taking a dining package.

    We’re on Navigator June 1-5, 2020 which has 2 stops at CocoCay.  I just got a 2 day ticket deal in cruise planner for $79.99 TOTAL per person, which is what they’re also charging for 1 day on the same cruise.  I’m guessing this is available for all the cruises with 2 stops at CocoCay .....

    My vote is to stay on the ship in Nassau. If you must get off, check out resort day pass for the British Colonial Hilton. The hotel is a short walk from the pier and it’s a pleasant beach day. I can’t speak for the two you mentioned but I believe you need to be brave enough to hop in a cab and trust one of those maniac drivers with your life (not for us). Good luck & enjoy.

    Can’t wait for the 1pm update from RCCL. Not sure how they are going to get Mariner back to Port Canaveral and Navigator back to Port Miami on MONDAY 9/2 when a possible CAT 4 hurricane will be somewhere along the eastern FL coast....  I really don’t want to get on this ship at this point.  We are scheduled on Navigator leaving 8/30 out of Miami.

    Royal created this problem and now playing catch up. They have for a long time catered to loyalty guests. Grandeur regulars have seen the drooling that goes on for Pinnacles. I was in a cruise where the world about ended to give a Pinnacle their pins. Stopped a show and dining room announcement. 
    Suite guests pay a lot more for rooms. Those rooms generate a lot more revenue with less people. Celebrity sees the value in keeping suite guests happy and Royal finally sees that they have to do the same. 
    If I want amenities I pay for them with suite rooms not loyalty. The loyalty perks are not a given they are now a thorn in Royals side.  They are trying to figure out how to fix the monster they created.

    I think Royal's intentions were good, it's just that in reality their program won't work indefinitely. It's a little like a Ponzi scheme.  It's all fine when few get the benefits. Eventually,  the system changes or collapses. I think we are close to change. It's a business and they have to make a profit. They know who generates revenue and who doesn't.  In the end, it will be those that generate revenue that will be catered to. It has to be that way or you go bankrupt.

    I agree.  I think a likely change is make the Suite lounge for suites and move Pinnacles and Diamond plus to the Diamond lounge.  Diamonds will get 3 drinks on their cards. That makes the most sense to me.

    They certainly could do that but the suites restaurant is kind of a standard suites amenity these days. I think it would be a step backward for Royal to eliminate a Suites restaurant. My hunch is that eventually the suites restaurant will be exclusive to suites guests the way it is on Celebrity and there will be other options for loyalty members much like what they’re doing on Allure next week.
    Royal has put a lot of money and effort into upgrading their suites experience. I find it very hard to imagine that they would remove one of the stand-out amenities.
