  1. So Royal is still trying to get crew members that have been on ships for months back to their countries.....With all the world wide travel restrictions I can't how they will be able to get new crew members back to the ships for end of June or even July. Plus the US have a 14 day mandatory quarantine on anyone arriving....would they be allowed to do this quarantine on the ship or do they have to do this on land before boarding.... Can't imagine anything happening this summer....
  2. Canada currently has a mandatory 14 day quarantine on anyone entering the country....I can't see them relaxing that before there is some sort of vaccine.... My guess is no Alaska this year.
  3. I have seen some people put a small white board on there cabin door and write notes on them....Walkie talkies wont work well, even on small ships they are hit and miss so on Oasis I imagine they would be worse.
  4. There is nothing worse than having a bad first cruise, it really makes future cruises questionable. I can only say that I have been on about 110 cruises and 84 have been with RC because after trying a few other cruise lines they have always been the one we have the most fun on and we get some great deals. They are not the best at everything but they do check a lot of the boxes. I would give them one more chance, maybe sail from Florida and on a newer ship and not during hurricane season.... All the best!
  5. Not normally as most people leave the cruise, you will find maybe 30-60 passengers doing B2B. (On TA there are more) I would recommend doing your own excursion. Sometimes they did offer a quick tour before the airport, I have not seen them lately.
  6. They seem to be assigning the rooms quite close to the sale date and my guess is the Royal Up has something to do with this. On my last 2 GTY rooms we were assigned better than we booked and they were about 15-20 days from sailing.
  7. They usually have all the important games on the TV and out on the deck. I think the Schooner bar (Deck 6 midship) also shows them. Best thing to do is speak with the Activities Manager once onboard and they can fill you in. Enjoy your cruise!
  8. I don't think there is a limit to how many price drops. I have never heard of cruise being canceled due to lack of sales/demand...they usually just keep adjusting the price until it's sold out.
  9. We did not like Grand Bahama...(maybe that's why RC bought a big hotel their) Nassau is much better.
  10. I do it right away but I don't print my Set Sail until a week before, in case there are any changes or I still don't have a room assigned.
  11. On our last cruise we had 1 cabin the first week and internet worked great but the second week we moved to another cabin and the internet was spotty at best. The access point was too far away...in general internet works great around the ship but in room access is a bit hit and miss.
  12. Last year the Black Friday sale was quite good, I think 30% or 40% off the regular price. Also the day you board they have drink package deals maybe ask someone that is doing the same ship to give you what deals are being offered.
  13. I think this is one of the few times that being Canadian is an advantage....no tax on Casino Winnings.... Now all I have to do is win....
  14. We did 4 weeks on here last year from Venice all the way back to the US and we really enjoyed our cruises. The crew were awesome, the food was great and we met some really great people aboard. The ship is in our opinion in great shape and well looked after. Enjoy your cruise!
  15. The issue is it may delay the boarding, we were involved in one that did delay the boarding until noon. I think its just to cover themselves in case all does not go perfectly during the inspection. Enjoy your cruise!
  16. You will be boarding Galveston. TX and those sailings have a lot of C&A members (more than 50% of the ship) so depending on the time you arrive at the port you will actually see the new cruiser line or anyone under Platinum level (this is the level you start to get priority boarding at) will be much shorter than the priority line. A couple of weeks ago we arrived at 1pm and it was like this. If you get to the port very early they have a waiting area upstairs that you wait at with a number, once the ship is ready for boarding (10:30-11am aprox.) they call out the numbers. (first to boa
  17. I also herd they were going smoke free inside the ships (no more smoking in the casino and the cigar lounges are all being converted to something else) There will still be smoking outside. I think Celebrity was the test and soon we will see this on more Royal ships.... I hope it's soon.
  18. The best is to go with an open mind and make the best of whatever situation arises. The idea is to enjoy your vacation and not hang on small details. Things happen on every cruise! Enjoy your cruise!
  19. I like the new wear you best thing. In the end people will wear what they want anyways why use the word formal.... If I'm eating in a restaurant with my wife enjoying a nice meal, why would I care if some is at the next table in a tuxedo or slacks and a polo shirt.
  20. I asked a crew member about currency once and the reply was "we love tips in any currency".....I'm sure they have ways to exchange money between themselves, with more than 60 nationalities working onboard.
  21. But we do have the FREE health care....
  22. I would love to be able to take advantage of the Royal Caribbean CC but as a Canadian I am not able to get one. We have many US currency CC available in Canada just not the RC one.....
