  1. Okay folks I started this thread in October after our horrible food experience on Quantum from Vancouver to Honolulu. Just got off Oasis with one of our kids and her family, ate in the MDR 6 of the 7 nights and other than the reduced menu choices everything seemed to be back to normal. Windjammer was fine (other than unbelievably crowded)everything was the appropriate temperature and what we expected, all other venues lived up to our expectations except Playmakers wait staff was unbelievably slow when we were there(possibly shift change)but the bar fare was great. First attempt at Port Side BBQ and we really enjoyed it! Ribs were great and the brisket as well. Coming from a place where Texas BBQ restaurants are on just about every corner, that says a lot! The dining staff in all the venues were amazing as usual and are the reason we keep coming back. Conclusion after all this, the Quantum event was either purveyor issue or lack of quality control in the kitchen or perhaps a little of each. Going back on the Oasis in 3 weeks to give it another test but for now all is good in Cruise Land on the high seas.
  2. Our thoughts at time. We will see this weekend.
  3. I posted this on live blog probably more appropriate here. I noticed on Cruisemapper that the Oasis was in San Juan today. Not on its itinerary. I’d everything ok? We are supposed to sail on her 2/4 and 3/3.
  4. We started this thread 3 months ago in hopes that our experience was not the new norm. Unfortunately, it continues to evoke responses, leading us to believe that our cruises the first week in February and March as well as mid April are all going to be unsatisfactory food experiences. We are bringing our adult kids and introducing their children to cruising and sadly don’t believe that the grandkids will have the same fond memories of cruise dining their parents had growing up.
  5. We agree. Doing Oasis again in February and March. Will see if same experience.
  6. I’ve read all the nasty sniping since I posted our dining experiences. Let me put a bit to rest. 1. We are normal people that have enjoyed cruising since around 2005. 2. We are not food snobs 3. We consumed what we were served without complaint. Unlike several tables around us that were loudly complaining/unloading on the poor server. 2 even had the head waiter come to their table to air their complaints. 4. Our windjammer experience was similar to numerous folks around us. We took this experience as an exception rather than the rule. We are already booked on our next cruise in March. We are NOT one and done and all this sniping is a waste of brain power
  7. I completely agree. As I said previously, this is the very first RC cruise of our 15 previous RC cruises that we had an issue with, and was curious if any others on that particular leg had similar experience. Did not expect to set off a fire storm.
  8. Our expectations for Windjammer and other complimentary dining venues not set real high. Over the years there has been a general declination in the quality. We have accepted that as the way the industry is going. Please note at no time have I mentioned anything about the crew. They are as always top notch. My issue is the quality of the supplies and possibly with the preparation on this particular cruise. I’m hoping my upcoming Oasis cruise will be closer to what we have come to expect of Royal Caribbean.
  9. JF, first of all, We asked for med well. Fatty and undercooked applied to just about everything else(fish , lobster, bacon, corn beef hash, etc) Carving station in Windjammer fatty full of gristle, same thing cafe 270, and solarium bistro. I was totally confused and thought since first trip out of Canada maybe a source/provisioner issue. We did address in post cruise survey
  10. Yes once. We were to busy doing things we love to do anything except windjammer. We have never had a problem until this trip. Nothing but glowing reviews for 15 cruises.
  11. Also evident Cafe 270, cafe promenade, and solarium bistro. The menus extremely limited, portions smaller and even ran out of items that we considered normal fare. Ordered a strawberry daiquiri and was told out of strawberry mix.
  12. Seemed the problem was ship wide. Bought the key and had “ Chops” menu lunch, filet was undercooked and fatty, did Windjammer a couple times a day with same results. First time we’ve encountered poor quality in over 15 cruises. Don’t know if provisioner or trying to cut corners to save money. Kitchen needs a quality control check because poor supplies and poor prep means really poor end product.
  13. We just got off Quantum’s 8 day run from Vancouver to Honolulu. The food on board was horrible! All cuts of meat were fat and gristle, fish and Lobster were always under cooked. Windjammer entrees were poor at best and almost always cold. We only ate in the MDR on lobster night and overheard many around us complaining, some to wait staff others to the head waiter. Are they trying to force all to the various dining packages??
  14. They have been updating the app as embarkation approaches this weekend. One of the updates includes time changes on various days enroute .
  15. Understood. This is a twice a year op and wasn’t sure how they handle the significant time change
