I agree with @WAYNO.  Keep the room.  Even if your wife is fully ambulatory, she will still be limited in how far she can hobble.  Staying closer to the elevators will be a blessing.  Don’t worry about Royal “taking the room away”.  It won’t happen.

I loved the idea of Sky Jr Suites when they were announced...but the fact that they are on a such a low deck, don't come with internet and are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive (which also bumps the price for GS up to the heavens) really makes me hate them. I would hope that in a year or so, they come down to a reasonable price but who knows.....

We got hit with this surprise in Jaime's last year. We assumed the photos were going to be treated just like the ones taking in the MDR, so we happily posed and everything. Then, half way through our meal we're being presented with the photos to buy. We said "oh no we don't need the print/frame, we have the photo package" and that's how we found out it's an add on charge.
I do wish they made it clear that it wasn't included like allllll the other roaming photographers >.>

Yes, they apparently changed it sometime last year. We had the same experience on Wonder last November. They took our photos in 150 CP and returned later with printed copies in a portfolio and asked if we'd like to purchase them. They also explained that specialty dining photos are no longer included in the photo packages.
When I asked when this change occurred, the photographer stated over a year ago. I immediately showed him my phone with the typical "framed" photos (with the border, name of the restaurant, ship name and date) from our JAN sailing on Wonder (included in package that sailing) taken in 150 CP the same year and he was shocked! Needless to say, we were annoyed and skipped the photos. I cannot understand why they would exclude specialty dining venues. I can understand weddings, etc...
    It's listed in the CP...

I believe they're going to introduce a new class in between Sea and Sky. They'll call it Smog Class Suites. Above the sea but not quite to the sky.

Oh boy...I am most confused now. I think you guys are all correct, it is full Sky on Utopia, Icon, Star.
My conclusion? I will not be booking a Sky Junior on any ship. Forget the shady "is it full Sky" "is it not" nonsense, I don't even want to be on Deck 6! lol

This is why I think they're doing them and why the new and bigger ships are getting more 3 and 4 night trips. Certainly makes sense, but I admit, it's a bummer to me as someone who has to fly to port, that so many ships are doing short ones. I was hoping to hop back on Freedom in 2025 but she's only doing 3 and 4 nighters....and b2bs don't end up being cost effective vs a standard 7-night (trust me I looked T_T)

Right after last Thanksgiving, we booked a July sailing for Wonder. The price of our 3-person OV balcony was reduced several times since then- to the point that it is now costing us $600 less (total for the cabin) than when we booked. However, the same cabin is now going for $300 more than what we initially booked at. I suspect those of you who aren’t seeing price reductions are just booking really far in advance and getting the best price as soon as itineraries are released!

For the folks residing near a cruise port, a mini-cruise could work well.  For folks like me that it takes a 12-hour+  flight window plus a motel stay once I get to the cruise city, a mini-cruise would be a waste of travel resources.

That said, as I get multiple cruise offers in my mail box every week, the most recent ones have been for these abbreviated cruises.  Seems they are indeed trying to fill these rooms.

I wrote this under the article but thought I'd repost here:
It will be interesting to see how what changes are made to the entertainment schedule to accommodate the new (middle) dining option.  Up to now, there are 2 shows in the theatre.  The first show is to accommodate the late diners and the second show accommodates the early diners.
On a different note, while we eat early at home, we prefer the late dining on cruises.  This is because we don't want to be rushed back to the ship on port days and gives the wife plenty of time to get ready (while I'm enjoying my adult beverages).  If we're really hungry, we get a slice or 2 of pizza at Sorentos to hold us over.

The move to short FL cruises allows them to charge more per night and it allows them to put more bodies on CocoCay which is a money printing machine right now.

Sweet! Then you could just book weekend cruises and take hardly any time off. Just keep going back to embarkation day and make the cruise last however many days you want!

    I looked into doing a couple b2b short ones like a 3 and 4. It's still worth just booking a 7 nighter.

Especially with theme park tickets the level they are now. For the price of a three-day park hopper at Disney, you could take a family on a cruise for the weekend.
