Eating in the MDR costs the same for everybody. It is included in all cabin fare from the smallest inside cabin to the Owners suite. Everybody is equal. I'm all for an optional "formal" dining experience for those that want to pay for that experience.

I really liked where you were going with this equality idea.  But if my wife and I like to dress up on our cruises why should we have to pay extra for that experience?  After all we would be the ones following the RCCL rules and it would be the others who aren't.  So why shouldn't they pay to dress down?

Chances are Royal will settle with the family for a couple million with no admittance of fault. The sad thing is that it was an accident. Accidents happen. It's part of life. Not every accident is someone's fault (although I will say I think the grandfather is totally at fault in this situation).  However, we have to remember that none of us were there to see what happened and until all the facts are revealed to the public (which will probably be if it goes to trial), everything is speculation. I do think the lawyer is pushing the family to make a case out of this, maybe for his own greed (he'd take at least 33% of any settlement).

@MattCasey  Hi Matt, Welcome to the RCB forums!

I think it's pretty obvious who is right and who is wrong.  If the grandfather set the baby on a railing on a balcony or an open area on one of the upper decks, same thing would have happened.  If the window had been closed and the baby fell into the window, it's likely the pane would've held the weight but not guaranteed.  A screen probably wouldn't have.  And the baby still could've been severely injured or killed.

Their Today Show performance disgusted me.

I don't think this is anything more than trying to gin up public outrage against Royal Caribbean and pushing them to settle to shut them up.  It isn't about protecting other children, it isn't about restitution for Royal Caribbean's negligence, it's about taking advantage of self-inflicted tragedy to blame somebody else for their own stupidity and get a big check in the process.

Agreed!  Well put.  Why do so many people in the world today believe they are entitled?  Such a sad state of humanity...

It is actually very easy. Go on cruise planner. At the top click on order history. Open the particular order you want and click cancel. Then just order again. Refund will be to original form of payment and will take a few days. If you had bought it using on board credit, that OBC will show in your account immediately so you can then use it for the new purchase. I have done it several times.

Of course, you can call also if you prefer.

Skid, thanks for this info!  Not sure why, but I never noticed the 'ORDER HISTORY'  link before.  My eyes always go right to the 'CART'.  I have been waiting for prices to go down before purchasing, but with this info, I will book now and then keep looking for a price drop.  No, my preference would be to do this directly on the website and to not have to call.  This is great.  Thanks Again...

I'm getting excited first royal Caribbean  cruise. Going for our 20th anniversary. Anybody else going on this cruise? Any tips for me since this is my first RC  cruise. Cruised with carnival a couple of times on the Dream

    Hey Tennessee,

Welcome to the RCB Forums.  Yes, you find lots to do and plan for on the Oasis.  I love the Oasis class ships...

  6. Brenna, ditto on all the above.  Sorry your husband is having difficulties.  As for a second cruise, my choice would be Anthem.  We love that Solarium.  We were on it in JUN and will be on it in OCT.  So if it works out for you, then go for it.  Like so many of us now say thanks to Matt - "You Only Live Once".

I am Pinnacle and was staying in a balcony cabin. My friends are Diamond Plus.  No one has ever asked to see my card, much less swipe it in the Suite Lounge, however I was told that as of a few months (it would have had to have been since Feb. 2019 - as I went in there then and no swiping was taking place) cards are being swiped for drinks in the Diamond Lounge. As of my sailing, there was no restriction placed on the Diamond Lounge # of drinks, but there was definitely no swiping going on in the Suite Lounge.

Wow, I have never heard of or seen that before.  ?

I walked into the Diamond Lounge on Adventure of the Seas (June 28 to July 6) to visit with friends who did not have access to the Suite Lounge. I was very surprised when I ordered a diet coke to be asked for my sea pass card. I questioned why they were swiping cards in the Lounge and was told it was for "inventory purposes for the Loyalty Department" and that it had been going on for some time.  No such swiping for Pinnacles in the Suite Lounge, so I guess Loyalty doesn't feel there are enough of us to impact their inventory.

I did see a woman who was with friends asked to leave when she could not produce her sea pass card and didn't want the Concierge to look up her room.

@MaritimeR&R  Are both you and your friends Diamond members?  Also, for your Adventure cruise were either of you in a Suite?  I am trying to understand the relationship between the Diamond Lounge and the Suite Lounge as it pertains to you...

Was this this first time you walked into the Diamond Lounge on this cruise?  I always say "Hi" to or at least catch the Concierge's eye when I walk in.  My experience is once they engage with you for the fist time then they will recognize (and not bother) you for the rest of the cruise...

My wife and I will be traveling on Anthem of the Seas to new England & Canada on Oct. 10, 2019.  message back if you are going at the saem tome OR if you have been on this particular 9 day cruise before.

I am particularly curious as to whether or not there is any time while on the ship you are able to get a signal on your phones. I have unlimited data on my plan and am hoping to upload images & vids from time to time on the cruise and prefer not to pay the additional charge for Voom.

I am also looking for possible excursions NOT sponsored by RC at the various ports.

    Peace,  Dan

    Hi Dan,

I booked the OCT 24th version of your cruise: 9N Anthem to NE/Canada.  You shouldn't have any problem getting signal in ports.  I did the NCL Dawn back-to-back last year from Boston to Quebec City to Boston.  We stopped at most of the same ports.  I am on Cricket, which uses AT&T equipment and had no problems.  Cricket has a Canada option which I enabled last year and it worked fine too.  Not sure if I will bother with that this year with only 3 stops in Canada.  Did you find any excursion info?  I need to start looking.  I also need to make final payment as it is now due.

  11. Celebrity has been sending me emails (the latest one at 10AM this morning) with these subject lines: "Hello Massachusetts residents, you're eligible for special resident rates."  I would love to see a great deal on a 2021 British Isles cruise.  Still looking...

  12. @andy  If you are interested in the podcast, you can listen on your computer right from this RCB website.  Here is the link:  https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/podcast

Also, good job on booking some of the shows in advance.  With ~6000 passengers on board, not everyone can see the shows at the same time.  I usually book the best show times first, and then make my dinner reservations second.  Sounds like you are off to a great start!
