Unless there is a Margaritaville outside the International Port where Royal docks, meeting your friend at the bar inside the port will probably not happen. Security will not let them in unless they have special permission and a pass. Allure docks at one pier all the time.

Will be interesting to see if they apply the "new cruise math" to the certificates that folks earn while gambling on-board. The offered cruises out of Galveston are only at higher point levels which is a bummer for those of us who consistently cruise from that port. Typically the wife gets an upper point level and I get a lower level so we use hers for scheduling future cruises. Will have to see if you can combine the offers in order to get both of us in a balcony at a lower cost.

Having been on Allure several times in the past couple of months you will have plenty of areas to chill. The Central Park area on Deck 8 is an outdoor oasis with plants, several nice eating areas and piped in bird sounds. The Boardwalk is a nice area with a merry-go-round and other areas to sit and watch others. For real chill you can go to the Solarium adults only area for a little peace and quiet. I have found more than enough areas to sit and read without being bothered.

Port Parking (www.portparking.com) has elevated, inside parking and opened a new facility close to the new terminal. We use them for all our cruises and they have separate buildings next to each other, one for the 4-5 day cruises and one for the 7 day. They are not the lowest price but are very close to it and are definitely closer to the new terminal than the others. They give senior discounts, coupon discounts (same code every time) and a loyalty program the gives really good discounts to repeat cruisers.

If you want to be close to the action then the D+ seating is not for you. We enjoy the D+ seating in the theater as it is usually less crowded and we get there early enough to have seats in the center a couple of rows back from the railing as it can interfere with the sight line. The seating for the ice show is at the end and the action comes at you. Just depends how you want to view the shows.

Can get the same hamburger in Windjammer BUT the milkshakes are what I go for. Can't get them anywhere else and is a treat for each trip.

Sabor on Liberty of the Seas does not have a bar. They bring their drinks in from the Schooner Bar. We have dined there many times.

There are two formal nights on Allure now. There is also Red night and White night. To round it off there is usually 70's night which was really fun to see the attire some brought out, complete with long hair wigs, bell-bottoms, platform shoes and open flowered shirts.

We got off Sunday. They have two guys working every day pruning the plants that can be saved, removing the dead ones and planting new ones. In a week they were able to attend to a little over 40% of the plants there. Unfortunately the trees fared poorly and I am not sure what they will do with those except replant which is a major task. Probably wait until Spring before they do so there will not be a repeat. Overall it is much better than it was.

If you want the paper Compass you need to request it from your room steward. They do not keep them around Customer service like they used to. I have the Allure from this past week for each day except day 1. Scanned and gave it to our son who is going in March with the kids.

My wife goes out of her way to talk to the crew members who are doing the "thankless" jobs such as cleaning the hallways or sweeping the pool deck. They recognize us throughout the cruise and are happy to say hi and are thrilled that we are taking time to speak to them. We have met many this past year that we see on return cruises and they recognize us and come to greet us, even if they are in another job which they do get moved around. The other thing we do besides tip the stewards and bartenders is make small goody bags of chocolates that we pass out to these folks who are working hard to keep our cruise clean and safe. They remember and when we see them again they quickly remember us as the chocolate people and come to speak to us with beaming smiles. My wife makes a list of these folks and mentions them in her survey for the great job they do.

We love the West Coast cruises even though we are in Texas and try to get back as often as possible. We were on Navigator on the Royal restart of the western cruises and actually sat next to the local governor in Puerto Vallarta who was presenting Royal with a plaque commemorating the event. We keep checking the air fares so we can go back.

Congratulations! We always heard how beautiful the Alaska sailing was but never wanted to pay the high airfare. Last summer we were offered an Alaska cruise on Ovation and on that particular date there was a bargain rate on the airfare ($200/ea). Needless to say we went and I highly recommend this trip to everyone. Each of the stops were fantastic, the scenery is unbelievable and we and my wife's two best friends thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
