Hey, Doc. Fellow LGBT cruiser here. A group of about 18 of us, men and women, are going on the the 5-day Western Caribbean and Mexico cruise leaving from Tampa on February 27. If you happen to be on that cruise, make sure to say hello. We're a super-friendly bunch.

Under the CDC inspection guidelines for whirlpool spas on cruise ships:
The water must fully circulate no less than every two hours. Water must be changed every 72 hours. Granular filters must be cleaned and inspected at least every 72 hours and replaced every 12 months.  There are required ranges for pH and chlorine levels.  But that is the minimum--cruise lines are acutely aware of the possibility of any disease spread or bad health inspection records. So I believe @twangster is right and they are generally drained and cleaned more often than that.

WesKinetic got a reaction from teddy in Will RCL cancel/refund excursions because of weather?
@WAAAYTOOO hit it on the head--if it is cancelled, you will automatically be refunded. But for them to cancel, the weather would have to be something that could truly threaten the safety of the excursion. So, in your thunderstorm example, they could cancel the excursion if there is a risk of lightning in the area or if the winds would be so bad as to make travel to the snorkeling site unsafe. But outside of that, excursions are generally considered "rain or shine" events.

So I was just told by staff on Grandeur that diamond now has the specialty BOGO option. That means if you are diamond you can buy one specialty restaurant and get another half off. First or second day reservations are required. She said it's not just specific to this ship.

Yes but not always the status. If you sail eight times and reach diamond but they only sail 5 times. They will have the points for 5 times all their life. But possibly the status only until they are 18.

Not just cool, but encouraged. A lot of times, there will be waiters coming around the Windjammer during breakfast taking drink orders or carrying around trays of mimosas.

I did a little more research and wanted to post some information I found in case someone else has the same question. It looks like there is luggage storage at the Vancouver port (for a cost of course). This may work well for my purposes. https://www.portvancouver.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/WCS-Bagdrop.pdf

@Vancity Cruiser is correct--the double points promotion expired Sep. 30, 2021. I remember it vividly because I was frantically trying to get one booked that afternoon.  😄

Sorry if you were given bad information.

Fantastic thank you for the hope that I can.  I didn’t see why it should be an issue but sometimes little things like that become a place where they follow the rules to the letter.

I did notice the ship has a Chacchoban tour that stops at Bacalar lagoon "beach"  after lunch.
Native Choice has a ruins tour that stops at Bacalar aka Seven Colors Lagoon as well, cost is less than half what the ship charges and it includes lunch and drinks.  The only difference is that you have to find your way out of the maze of shops and leave the port to do the NC tour.

WesKinetic reacted to Bowen in What is Your "Pet Peeve" on a Cruise? (something that a particular person finds especially annoying.)
I did this on a cruise once, most embarrassing moment of my cruise life (and likely the poor lady’s in the stall as well). You know how some stalls have a push button open that is conveniently located right above or below the button to open the general bathroom door? I didn’t know this was a thing, hit the wrong button, and could not for the life of me figure out what I’d done or how to undo it. The lady is nicely pleading with me to close the door, so I just stood to the side of it directing people away until it closed on its own. I still refuse to those buttons to this day, I’m way too nervous about repeating that experience.

WesKinetic got a reaction from TrishG in Onboarding - when to select time?
In most cases, check-in will begin 45 days prior to your cruise. In the app, you should be able to check in shortly after midnight on that day. Keep in mind that you don't have to do all of the check-in stuff right then. You can just select your boarding time and then do the rest (passport info and such) later.
You can check everyone in together, but you will need to link the accounts ahead of time. But once you've done that, you should be able to see everyone's reservation and check them in.

Not necessarily cruise-specific, but I seem to notice it more on cruises:  People who stand right in front of the elevator and move in as soon as it opens instead of waiting for people already in the elevator to get off.
