  1. Personally I just want to get on a ship.  We have not been able to cruise since 2017.  I do not want to wear a mask all on the ship.  I know its just from point A to B.  However, I am willing to deal with the restrictions so we can finally get back on a ship.  Eventually all restrictions will be lifted and these kinds of discussions will be moot.

Everyone has their thoughts on covid and they are entitled to their opinions.  Personally, I believe the faster we as whole get used to the idea it will never go away we will get back to "normal".  The vaccine, air filters, extra cleaning, etc. only help to mitigate the virus.  I am not trying to downplay anyone's experience with covid.  I had it, some of my family has had it.  It sucks, but unfortunately its here to stay.

So like many out there, I am concerned that the Delta variant will throw the travel industry back into what it was when the pandemic first started, as the peak has not yet happened. Honestly hard to see this thing slowing down in Fall and Winter.

I cancelled my November and December cruises, and am instead now going twice in August, then mid-September, and then again in October, avoiding the peak of Fall/early Winter.

Anyone else changing their plans just so they can be out at sea, confidently? Who knows what a few months will look like from now!

Nope, we are sailing in Dec.  The cruise lines are showing they can handle people testing positive onboard. IF the cruise lines are unfairly shutdown again, then we will find something else to do.

Any other Rcl shareholders on this board?

For the last two weeks the shares have been going down rapidly where I would expect the opposite since Royal has started sailing again.

Any thoughts at what's going on?

I am wondering the same thing, but I am not going to lose sleep on it.  I believe when cruising is "really" back the price will jump back up.

  4. Hello,

I know this has been discussed before, but I am not sure if I read it here or elsewhere.  We have a Thrill Waterpark Cabana reserved and 4 people in our party.  I know that cabana section only allows 6 people from the cruise planner.  Friends of our are thinking of joining the same cruise.  They would be a party of 5.  I read before that you can add people to the cabana for X amount of dollars a person.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to where I can find that or if that really is true?

    Thanks in advance!

In my case the excursion was parasailing in Key West.  It was cancelled by Royal the morning of the excursion due to high winds.  The amount was refunded to my credit card.

Good to know.  If that is how its all handled I would just use it to book the next cruise.  This is all hypothetical anyway, Id rather make the stop and check out Perfect Day than have it cancelled.

  6. @wordell1 and @steverk I should have clarified what I was asking.  I was thinking if the excursion cancelled during the sailing.  For example, not going to Perfect Day due to high winds/rough waters would the cabana or whatever was booked be turned into OBC or back to the CC used to pay for it.

The reason I am asking is that in my mind the money was spent already and having an OBC might not get spent.  Might as well book another cruise with the OBC if that is allowed. Especially since we would most likely be booking another sailing while on board.

Again just something I was thinking of and thought I would as the folks here.

  7. Hello,

I was wondering how the money spent is refunded when or if a shore excursion is cancelled by Royal Caribbean during the cruise?   Does it become onboard credit or go back to the card used for payment?

A follow up to the above questions.  If the money is made to be onboard credit, can that credit be used for a deposit at the cruise next desk?

  8. I found this article an interesting read.  I hope this means there is a path to a restart as planned.   I think DeSantis truly wants cruising to restart sooner than later, but is also doing what he believes is best for the State of Florida.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Is Crafting A Cruise Line Exemption For His Vaccine Passport Ban

@Matt has a mention in it as well.

  9. TL;DR

We sail just a few weeks after our daughter turns 12.  We are unsure if we should give her the vaccine.  We have taken it, so what's the hold up?  She is 11 soon 12, we are in our 40's.  She is still growing and maturing.  There is no long term data on the potential side-effects it could cause.  There is news that children are potentially developing myocarditis after getting the shot.  Link below.  I am not 100% convinced the vaccine is the cause, but it is something to keep an eye on.

We are sailing after the CSO expires in Nov.  Has any word come out about vaccine requirements past the CSO expiration?

I know this is super early days, just wondering if there was any information for me to review?

Also, I know the simple answer is do not sail if we are uneasy giving her the vaccine.  I just want to know more information before we have to make that decision.

Most capacity limits and mask requirements are being lifted today in North Carolina, effective immediately. No specific mention of individual businesses having the right to require masks, but unless requiring them were to violate a law they should be free to do so.

If a place of business requires a mask and I don't like it (I don't) I have the option to not frequent that business.

Ohio has now, after CDC made more changes, that vaxed can ditch masks 100% (nursing homes still the exception I think).  I tested this update over the weekend.  My wife and I went to a Home Depot walked in talked to staff about purchases we were looking to make etc.  No one mentioned needing masks.

We decide to have lunch at Panera.  We are ordering food and then while taking our order the cashier asks us if we have masks.  I politely stated we are vaxed.  She then says we still need to have masks on and walks to get, I am guessing the manager.  I am not trying to be on a YouTube "worst customer" video so we went ahead and just left.

I will say my wife was a little annoyed with me because she really likes one of the salads they have, whoops ?

I am wondering how businesses are going to do when June 2nd rolls around when everyone can ditch their masks here.

Edited:  I want to make sure that it is known the Panera cashier was not snotty or rude to us when asking about us having masks.  I fully believe they were just doing their job and there is nothing wrong with that in my eyes.

  11. June 2nd Ohio is dropping all health and social mandates from the state.  Business will be able to make the decision to require social distancing and masks if they choose to.  I am very excited to start getting back to freaking normal.

Governor DeWine also made a lottery out of it so to speak.
